Sunday Post #53
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
We are back from vacation after a week up north in beautiful Traverse City MI. We had great weather after a rough start, and had a lot of fun. I'll be posting some pics as soon as I get them organized. And... I got some nice pics for my Bookstore Spotlight feature. We spent time in three (yes, three) indie bookstores this past week, and I'll be spotlighting them in the coming weeks. I look forward to sharing these great stories with you guys. Of course, we got a few books too along with all the fun in the sun!
I need to get caught up on COYER as well. I had a review last week so will be linking that up. I did have some prescheduled posts go up but didn't get around much, so I'll be catching up this week. Thanks everyone who stopped by and commented. If you missed my first Bookstore Spotlight you can check it out here.

The High Summer Readathon is here- check out the starting line here. I had a lot of fun with this last year...
Bronze Age Babies had some good posts this week- here they talk about the summer annuals of yesteryear. And Bronze Age Reprints, another fine retro blog, is counting down to The Guardians of the Galaxy movie with a look at the original Guardians- and some of Marvel's other cosmic heroes as well. Should be fun...

Glad you had a great time in Traverse City. Love it there. Was it a bit cold at the beginning of the week like it was here in West Michigan? Looking forward to your bookstore spotlight.

ReplyDeleteThanks Kathy, I'm looking forward to posting about them. They were all quite different!
DeleteThree indie bookstores sounds really dangerous! Glad you had a nice vacation even if the weather wasn't always cooperative. Looking forward to seeing what you think of Wild Dark Flowers. I've had Rutherford Park on my wishlist since your review (or rereview!)
ReplyDeleteOh man I'm very curious about your Bookstore Spotlight, going to go check that out! Sounds like a good vacation - 3 bookstores is a definite good sign :) Hope you have a great week!

You too, and thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWe just got back from vacation too-we were up in Big Rapids :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiza! It's good to be back... I guess. Ha ha!
ReplyDeleteWelcome back! I wish we had more bookstores around here. We do have a fairly large on in Greensboro. As a matter of fact, we were just there today looking for a couple Summer Reading books from the kids' lists. Didn't score any of course since everyone appears to need them (library backlogged, too). lol So, I ordered off Amazon and with Prime they'll be here Weds. At least I tried to buy local. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHey you tried! I do too, alhough I have to admit I get tempted by Amazon's discount and Prime is a good deal.
DeleteThree great new reads, Greg! Glad you enjoyed your vacation. I look forward to seeing the pictures and the bookstore spotlights. I always try to visit indie bookstores and the local library when I go away. I've gotten some great tote bags from them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. Have a great week--sure hope you get all caught up.
Heading off to vacation this week! I am going to the San Diego Comic Con. Should be fun. Not sure if I will get to any book stores or not. We'll see! I am hoping to get some autographs while wondering the floors.
ReplyDeleteHey have a great one, and enjoy the con! Those of us not there will have to enjoy vicariously through you attendees. :) Are you going to post from the show?
DeleteI'm glad you had a wonderful vacation. I can't wait to see your bookstore highlights. It's such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your reading this week!
Glad you had a nice vacation. Michigan is beautiful.

My It's Monday, What Are You Reading
Hi Elizabeth! Michigan does have a lot of beautiful areas, especially northern Michigan. My bookstore post should be up tomorrow.
DeleteI do love Michigan. :) I haven't been in 9 years so I'm ready to go back. It looks like you have a wonderful bunch of books to read!
ReplyDeleteOoh, indie bookstores! Love it, and your feature about them. This one looks cozy, inviting and worth a trip, if I was in Michigan that is. I like their no-charge policy to help out tourists who leave the area and enjoy them. Also the little bowls of water outside for the dogs with the framed book covers to look at, lol!
ReplyDeleteThank Rita, it really is a nice store to hang out in. I liked the little bowls too... actually several of the businesses on Front St. do that, I got a kick out of it the first time I saw it!
DeleteI hope your vacation was awesome! I love exploring Indie bookstores, definitely can't wait to see the pictures! Have an awesome week!
