Song Lyrics #36

Okay some Journey this week.

You never call me up
When I'm alone at night
What can this poor boy do
When he's hopelessly in love with you

So I will tell you now
This love is fallin down
Just what more can I do
When I'm hopelessly in love with you

Hopelessly in love
Hopelessly in love
Hopelessly in love with you

So I will tell you this
Our love is in a fix
Just what more can I do?
When I'm hopelessly in love with you

You never call me up
When I'm alone at night
What can a poor boy do
When he's hopelessly in love with you

Hopelessly in love
Hopelessly in love
Hopelessly in love with you

Hopelessly in love
Hopelessly in love
I'm hopelessly in love with you

Ooh bye bye baby

The party's over
I have gone away

The big news this week is that my cousin probably has coronavirus. I tweeted about it earlier in the week but basically she woke up on fire- her description- but her extremities were freezing and her heart rate was in the 130's. She's a nurse in U of M health and couldn't even get a test! Spent hours on hold. Said after a few hours she felt better but it felt like her immune system was at war with her body. It was kicking her ass- again her words. And she's young and healthy. I think she's better now- I haven't talked to her in a couple days, she's on the other side of the state- but yeah it's hit close to home.

In other news I found out this week that one of my favorite bookstores- Horizon Books in Traverse City- is closing sometime this year. And this news came out before coronavirus hit, so who knows if the downturn will move things along? I can't stress enough what a big deal Horizon is in Traverse- this is like a gut punch.

Lovely week! Oh. Do you remember K-mart? Well, I found THIS. Seriously- someone uploaded a bunch of the in- store music and announcements that were played in the stores in the 80's. Yes, this is as awesome as it sounds. I listened to the 1989 one as I was doing other stuff and wow.

Last week on Tuesday's Top Ten list I mentioned Lost Horizon as on my TBR and someone said they wouldn't mind reading it if I did a read-along. So... is anyone else interested in a Lost Horizon read-along? If anyone wants to I'll set it up and keep it super simple- I'll do a reading schedule and a few discussion posts, people can do whatever and it'll be fun?

Girls 9

Girls #9

So the secret is out. Taylor is now outed as having kept things from the townsfolk, just as Ethan and Wes did. Although she has a good point when she asks if they would have believed her anyway. Everyone is pissed at Ethan though and violence breaks out, but luckily Ted shows up. Meanwhile, Wes and his crew are looking for a way out and having serious disagreements.

Girls #9

Wes is seriously getting on my nerves but the reverend at least is making sense. The Picketts, meanwhile, are burying Ma and junior is mumbling some kinda promise. That can't be great. Also, the gender role stuff and interaction between townspeople just keeps happening.

"...steamed vegetable gone, egg roll gone. Fridge almost empty. Howard, talk to them."

Ying-ma is not happy.

"Ying-ma, I can't tell them to stop eating."

"Not "stop eating." Stop eating like pig!"

The scene with the bear is pretty funny... until it isn't. Cole does something very dumb. You just never know in this comic!

Again, this is as much about how people survive (if they do) in a crisis as much as it's about the "girls". Karen tries to talk Ted into getting everyone to to cut back on resources, but he doesn't. No one steps up.

Nancy is a serious pain in the ass. Taylor says Ethan cheated on her- he thought they broke up (she moved out) but she thought they were still together. Even though they didn't speak for six months! These two are a mess!

Wes and crew are stuck at the house they hid from the bear in. And to top it off- Ma is gone!!

Song Lyrics #35

I LOVE this song. Part of the Stranger Things soundtrack but also a lesser known 1983 movie Two of a Kind. Has anyone seen it??

Do we deserve a second chance?
How did we fall into this circumstance
We weren't so straight and narrow
This is much more than we deserve

A higher voice has called the tune
Two hearts that lost the beat will now resume
the gift of life extension
By divine intervention

It's gotta be a strange twist of fate
Telling me that heaven can wait
Telling me to get it right this time
Life doesn't mean a thing
Without the love you bring
Love is what we've found
The second time around

Don't understand what's going on
Woke up this morning all the hurt was gone
This is a new beginning
I'm back in the land of the living

It's gotta be a strange twist of fate
Telling me that heaven can wait
Telling me to get it right this time
Life doesn't mean a thing
Without the love you bring
Love is what we've found
The second time around

I mentioned Tales From the Loop last week but I have a funny story. My mom came over and it was sitting on the table (it's a coffee table book) and she was looking it over- she made some faces as she paged through it, and wanted to know if it was real. It was the realism of the pictures that got her- she was surprised they were paintings, she though they looked more like photos. I mean, I don't think she thought it was real, but the photorealism I guess threw her?

Anyway, in apocalypse news- Michigan (my state) has canceled all school through April. How is your apocalypse shaping up?
