Sunday Post #521

So I went to the beach last weekend and it was a beach hazards day so the waves were super rough. It was awesome. I actually went twice and tried a burrito place along the beach. So good to be in the water and it was nice to get knocked around by the tall waves.

I'm sort of between shows and thinking of revisiting Riverdale.

This week's discussion post is Favorite SF Tropes

Here is this week's lyric.
Deep in the night
Alone in the dark
I get a need for you

Here is the lyric f/ last week and the answer

Here's looking at you
what do you think the chances are
we're gonna make it together

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

You're lonely when you're dead:

  1. We have a manmade beach right down the street from us - it's actually a waterfront with picnic areas, volleyball, walking paths. I wouldn't go swimming in because there's a logging place right down the way and the logs are floating down the river and will conk you in the head lol But I do love walking the dogs down there and being near the water. In the spring, the seals come through looking for fish.

    Loverboy! Loved them.

  3. So glad you had a beach to go too. While in upstate New York at the time, there was no pool in the village, but a mud puddle of a pond that was not all that inviting, but people went there if it was humid enough. I think of the times I did make to the shore back east, many was the water cold! If LBJ has any water in it, it's pretty nice for snorkling back in Texas.

Oh LOVERBOY. Yes, that does make me think of summer. Hope you have a beautiful weekend.

    1. Thanks for reading and your comment. I'm never sure how some will feel about subgenres and especially about invisable friends and lesbians. The first lesbian story I ever wrote was a Holly Oakes (a British soap) fan fic which was about two girls fed up with their blokes hanging out at the pub all the time. Oh, it was naughty and then they'd play that card, "It was only because I drank too much wine and so did you." But now after having a co-worker who's been married to her wife for so many years has really given me a different perspective. And invisible friends..well, I have to wonder when did they really go away? I have only met one other writer that had an invisable friend. And she won't talk about that friend, either. Anyway, it gives me more to write about with Beth and Louisa.

    3. Thanks for your comments. Oh, I just had to have a Wade Moment (✿◡‿◡) Hopefully, we have some rain moving in. So did you go back to Riverdale? I tried the first season, but I just wanted my Archies left alone. I started K-drama Mad Dog from 2017. It's fast paced, yet still a little long in installments. Gotta great cast.

  5. The Japan scene looks so well manicured in a sense. The book cover is mesmerising so noir.

  8. I am not such a big fan of the beach, but burritos are always great. When I was a kid, they found my unconscious on the shore at Riis Park. That beach always had wild waves.

  9. I didn't get a chance to head to a beach this summer- but maybe next year!

  17. Sounds like you're enjoying the last days of summer, Greg! Big waves actually frighten me, so I wouldn't go in, but I like to watch them crashing on the beach.

  25. Ooo I love when the sea is excited or angry!!! Are you talking about an ocean or a lake? What KIND of burrito, Greg?

I always hear Ozzy Osborn's voice in my head when, on his reality TV show his wife asked if he wanted a sandwich and Ozzy said "What KIND of sandwich, Sharon?" (Strong emphasis on the word "kind".)

My sis and I always asked each other that whenever we mentioned a sandwich or other type of food where that would fit and yes we asked in an Ozzy accent.

  27. It's just getting cool enough to think about going to the beach here. It's about a 2 hour drive for us. There are some great restaurants and the Aquarium. We take turns going in the Aquarium so Lulu can go along and eat at restaurants with outdoor seating.

  30. I thought about going to the beach this weekend, but after church, I decided to come home and just chill. About to nap and read for a while.

But seriously, I need to make it to the beach again soon.

  33. I've found a few YouTube channels that do recaps of shows and Riverdale is one of them. I listened to recaps of Gossip Girl and I think Riverdale is next. The beach sounds fun! We are going at the end of the month and I can't wait. This will be in the Atlantic and we normally go to the Gulf. Have a great week and enjoy your reading!

  36. I am not a fan of the beach. Maybe when I was younger and always living close to the beach. Hopefully I will be leaving for greener pesters soon.
    Have a great week.

  39. My husband and I were watching Riverdale, and he got tired of it a few seasons in. I never finish watching shows on my own, but maybe I should. I watched the first season of Russian Doll on Netflix, recommended by my daughter when I was sick recently. It actually has a time loop (s/f trope) in it. I should definitely watch the second season before I forget the first.
I think my favorite S/F trope is the spaceship of misfits who are accidentally thrown together and become a team.
