Sunday Post 507

So this week I started a new show- SILO- and so far am loving it. I got a free trial to Apple TV so I could binge it. Other than that, the big news for me was Bookcover Spotlight. I haven't posted one in two months perhaps? So I'm including it below as well because it's a favorite of mine.

Enjoy your weekend!

Here is this week's lyric.

Yeah it's been a long long time
You're such a sight you're
Looking better than a body has a right to

Here is the lyric f/ last week and the answer

Meanwhile have another beer

   Song of the week

PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:

Neal Adams 13 Tarzan At The Earths Core Cover

Tarzan at the Earth's Core. I absolutely loved all these Hollow Earth type stories as a kid.

Neal Adams 13 Tarzan At The Earths Core Original

There is a very similar scene in One Million Years BC

Image result for one million years bc gif

Now granted, the Neal Adams book cover above had not been painted yet when the movie came out, so maybe Adams was inspired in part by the movie?

  1. Is SILO based on Hugh Howey's WOOL series?

    1. Oh! A great guitar intro to next week's lyrics! Has this song ever been in a movie? It should have been if it hasn't. It's the unofficial anthem too of this one city, as well.🍓🍓🍓🍓🍓

  9. Is the song He'll Come Again by.... I want to say Dolly Parton but I'm not sure. Have a great week :)

  10. I think I'll ask for a free trial to Apple TV when Lessons in Chemistry will be released LOL

  11. You always stump me with your lyrics! I never know! Lol. I would love to have a bonfire on a beach - tis the season!

  12. Ah... I'm playing the video of the camp fire on the beach as I write... Such lovely soothing sounds - thank you, Greg! And that Tarzan cover is fantastic - as is the clip from One Million Years BC. And yes... I'd say it's highly likely the film inspired the cover:)). Have a great week:).

  13. Love the Pulp Cover. I'll have to check out Silo. Your lyrics are throwing me a little. There is apparently more than one song with "Lookin better than a body has a right to" in it. Dolly Parton's "Here You Come Again" is one of them but I don't think that's it. Here's my SP: https://bonniereadsandwrites.com/2023/06/04/sunday-post-seeing-clearly-sundaypost/

  15. Haha, my husband keeps wanting to try new shows, and I'm like, no! I have too many already! But with most network shows ending for the season, I guess we will need stuff for the summer!

  16. Great pulp cover. I don't have Apple+TV anymore. SILO sounds good. Hope you have a great week!

  20. I think I read that Silo is based on the book Wool, which I hated, but the reviewer said the series is good so I want to check it out.

  21. The ambient beach campfire is nice; very low-key and relaxing. And I agree with you: if the movie predates the cover, the cover artist was totally influenced by that scene.

Have a good week, and continued good wishes for your writing!

  24. I really want to watch Silo, but I'd like to read the book first. Which means I may never watch it. Ha!

  25. I am definitely enjoying Silo! Not sure when my Apple TV free subscription from buying a new tv runs out, but hoping it lasts long enough for the whole series since they are releasing one a week. Have a great week!

  26. I haven't heard of SILO. I'll have to check it out. That is a very retro cover. And yes, the movie was probably an inspiration for that cover. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Greg!

  27. I hear about things like Silo. I even got an Apple TV free trial last year to watch Shantaram and only got through a couple episodes right before the trial expired. That was the only thing I watched. And I want to watch but there are other things I just want to do more I guess.

  30. I keep looking for new stuff to watch on Apple TV since we kept our sub going to finish Ted Lasso (great show, if you need something else to watch!) and I keep seeing Silo pop up in my recommends. I probably should check it out!

  31. Oooh...I like that bonfire on the beach video. I'll have to play that one on the Roku soon. Lately I've been playing some with birds and squirrels for the cats. It will be nice to change it up! (Hopefully they'll agree.) :-)

  32. I need to try Apple TV. I've seen several shows lately that I really wanted to watch that on that service. The Overnight Blonde cover is fantastic! So very vintage looking. Have a great week!

  40. The photographs that you included inside your post, just remembered me the famous Catalonian cómic El Mercenario, de Vicente Segrelles. It is authentical Art in form of cómic. The Author painted every picture in Oil. It is a draconian and memorable work.
