Sunday Post

The Olympics are here. In fact by the time you read this the Opening ceremonies will already have happened due to the time difference. I debated whether I should pay the $5 for Peacock's coverage. I decided just to watch in primetime although I'm sure the coverage will be terrible.

So my reading is holding steady-ish but I'm watching more than I'm reading. Boba Fett and I'm getting into my Star Trek watch a thon again also.I will probably end up paying for Peacock's coverage just so I can watch some of the Olympics.

  2. LOL, Winnie doing his own Olympics. Could it become a real sport? Enjoy the coverage!

I love the man flying on the huge seagull's back!

  3. Ooh, which series of Star Trek are you watching?

  4. Love the pics -- definitely worlds that I'd like to explore too! And Pooh GIFs are always welcome. :)

  5. I watched a little bit of the opening ceremonies yesterday morning, it looked cool!

  6. I couldn`t watch the opening ceremony, but I would like to see the figure skating program.
    Have a good weekend ;)

  7. One of the reasons I don't watch the Olympics is NBC's horrible coverage and constant yammering. lol

What do you think of Boba Fett so far? We have found to be fine but lackluster until the past few episodes - but they aren't really about Boba Fett lol

  8. I usually don't watch much of the Olympics, but Nathan Chen is one athlete I've been keeping an eye on. :)

  9. At least you set the bar low for you expectations of the Olympic coverage. I always find it a bit anti-climatic with the time zone challenge.

  10. I hope to be able to watch some of the Olympics. I love the figure skating. Have a great weekend!

  11. I hope you enjoy watching the Olympics. I'm really excited to watch my cousin. His first competition is on Wednesday.

How do you Star Trek a thon? Meaning what do you watch? Is it the tv shows or the movies or everything? My husband and I are big Star Trek fans.

  12. Oh, I've watched Nathan already ❤ And can't wait to watch more of him. I feel so bad for those skiers and those in the outdoors in the below 0 temps. I hear China has already won some GOLD.

Thanks for the POOH spot. It made me smile =)

    1. Oh, these horrible winds for the skiers in the Olympic! I do feel for the skateboarders too, but that chick from San Francisco representing China has some really cool moves!

I'm still pondering those "worlds" In my dreams there is a lot of green and majestic mountains. Funny, how you have the recurring ones where you are in such a familiar place, but there is a mountain there you didn't know existed.

  13. Canada's coverage of the Olympics so far has not been great. There's been a lot of commercial breaks during competitions and times when Canadian comps aren't aired but other countries are. It's just weird. We're a big Olympic family so the frustration has been real in our house!

  14. I really like the style of the art pieces this week!

  15. I remember the Summer Olympics coverage being so confusing to figure out. I hope you're enjoying the Olympics, however you end up watching it!

  16. I will be watching the Olympics, I love both the summer and winter games. We are very lucky in the UK that it is one of the events where broadcasting rights go automatically to the BBC.
Coverage of the paralympics has improved massively since we held the summer games of 2012 and is also on non-pay channels.
    Have a great week.

  17. I love your weekly graphics and songs!

  18. The art this week reminds me of some animated video. Ugh it's going to drive me crazy I can't think of what it was called. Pretty sure it was from the 80's... I'm going to have to ask my hubby. Anyway have a great week and enjoy the shows.

  19. Thanks for reminding me about the Olympics Greg! Because I love watching Figure Skating!

  20. I always find it strange how heavily the summer Olympics were promoted here in the run up and we've heard practically nothing about the winter ones. Hopefully, I'll manage to catch some of the coverage on TV but I'll see how it goes. I want to see some of the figure skating if I can.

  21. I recently listened to that Shire ambiance! Love it! I've not been reading much at all this week or last week...

  22. Enjoy your watching of the Olympics, I never watch and didn't even realize it was on till a friend online mentioned it. :)

Have a great week and happy reading,

  23. I watched the opening ceremony live on German TV. Hadn´t planned doing so but I had a bit time between other things. Well, to be honest, I am still wondering why the Olympic flame is that tiny but the rest of the locations had to be built in maximum format? Don´t get it. Have a wonderful new week and plenty to read. No matter what format. Stay safe.

  24. I love Winnie the Pooh...and hate the Olympics! LOL

I am not a TV sports fan.

Enjoy your books and your week.

  25. War of the Wing Man looks interesting! Love all your pictures every week! I don't like to watch sports really on tv. I might watch ice skating, but that's about it. Have a great week!

    Have a great week.

  27. Happy Olympics viewing! (Even though the coverage does kind of suck.)

  28. We have Peacock as part of our cable package and oddly I'm not interested in watching this year - too many good books for me. Will probably catch the highlights on regular news. I should check out when the figure skating is as I do like that.

  29. I'm sad to say I'm not feeling the Olympics this time around. Even the figure skating...my favorite. First time in my life. But I am glad that YOU are enjoying it.

  30. i am so disappointed about the olympics. i feel like they are trying to force us to do all this streaming shit. i pay a lot of money already! i did wake up around 4:30 and started watching the ladies on the moguls. finally just got up. is it just us...or ???? it's hard to feel the excitement. BUT I'll be watching

  31. I've never been interested in watching the Olympics, but I do l ike watching Star Trek. I stopped watching Discovery, but I think I should go back to it. Hope you have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  32. My husband was thinking of subscribing to Peacock for the duration of the Olympics but I don't think we have. I feel like I am watching more than reading too. I hope you have a good week, Greg!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yay, I am so glad you have got back into your Star-Trek-a-thon! So have I! I have also been enjoying a LOTR themed ASMR video too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrZmt6_lV6g&t=36s 😊 Take care and happy reading!

  34. The Olympics weren't on my radar. But I caught Leslie Jones doing commentary on TikTok for figure skating and now I want to see the schedule of when things are airing.
    Loved the videos and art.

  35. We love watching but the editing of this year's primetime ceremony on NBC disappointed me. There was way too much political discussion. Also, I appreciate that the Olympians are excited to be there, and I do recognize the impossible amount of work and training they do, but the athletes entering the stadium always bores me to tears. I didn't feel like we saw much of the actual artistic show. Or maybe we did and it was just scaled back because of covid? And then the sound editing was all wrong. I couldn't hear NBC's anchors over the background announcers. After the spectacular show that China gave us in 2008, this was a huge letdown. But we'll keep watching the primetime sporting events.

    Enjoy your week!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think you can watch One of Us is Lying on Peacock too. If I'm not mistaken so that may not be a bad purchase. Nice to hear you're still enjoying some of your reads! Enjoy the Olympics!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love he Olympics. I am watching on NBC broadcast. It's the only station that works on our tv so that's lucky. I also have free Peacock. You can't watch live but it does have all the replays the next day - without commercials - so if you don't mind watching a day later it's fine. I like how you can look up what is available as highlights, replays or upcoming by sport.

  38. I cannot explain, but the Olympics have never appealed to me. To me, the Olympic games are boring. I feel the same way about golf, tennis, and soccer.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I haven't watched any of the Olympics but on YouTube tv you can set it to record specific events so I've done that. I did notice that with curling the lengths of the recordings are like 6 or 7 minutes. Granted curling is not the most popular sport but it did not inspire confidence. Have a great week!

  40. Yes Olympics! I love the luge and those bobsledders and the speed skaters!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You just reminded me that I need to cancel my Peacock subscription bwhaha. But maybe I should watch OOUIL first? Will I watch OOUIL first? I have no idea. Thoughts? Worth it? I definitely don't have time to be worried about the bobsledders or whatever the heck happens at the winter Olympics!

  42. I'm enjoying the Olympics as well. I'm so impressed with these athletes. Love your little Winnie the Pooh graphic. He's always been a favorite of mine.

  43. I haven't been watching the Olympics although one of our snowboarders got a gold medal and I saw that run on the news. Amazing what they can do.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I've seen snippets here and there of the Olympics mostly on YouTube and in restaurants that have it on their tv screens. Have a good week.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I just remembered we have Peacock over the weekend so I've watched some of the Olympics. Actually watching speed skating right now while blog hopping, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Love the pulp cover. Even better, two novels for 35 cents! My Book Date Monday post is up - just joined this blog roll. Happy reading. - Lyn

  47. It's odd to think we must pay for tv so we can watch the Olympics! Sigh. We have free Peacock so I'm not sure that we can see that much. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Enjoy the Olympics! I'm watching skiing right now. I'm mostly interested in hockey, and the regular networks are pretty good about showing the important games.

    ReplyDelete
  49. We've watched more of these Olympics than the past few--meaning we've watched *some* of the Olympics. I like the winter Olympics because many of the events are so unique. We got really into some sort of snowboarding event (I can't even remember what the event was called) and my husband got really invested in a cross country event. We are football people, so this is all very strange for us! - Melinda @ A Web of Stories

  50. I have been watching some Olympics too both on NBC and the USA network. I am mostly interested in the figure skating though. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  51. I use a VPN service (for French programs, etc), so I use it for the Olympics. The Canadian site here is awesome, with the table of all the sports and days, that you can then watch live or in replay:
    https://gem.cbc.ca/olympics
I discovered it for the Summer olympics, because suddenly the French site I was using was no longer working properly.

I would love to fly on the wings of that big white bird!

  52. Love those old sci-fi covers! Those last four drawings look like something from a Miyazaki film. Love to explore his worlds. Thanks for the purple cat feed. So soothing.

Star Trek is always a great thing to keep on watching. I'm halfway through the second season of TNG.

  53. I've been watching the Olympics in Primtime, too. I wouldn't have time to watch more than that anyways. I'm sure we'll get the fun highlights.

BTW, I tried to use the link from TTT to get to your post about it and it took me to a page that said "Sorry, the page you were looking for in this blog does not exist." Just wanted you to know.

  54. I don't really watch the Olympics, but Boba Fett is on my watch-list!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I haven't watched any of the Olympics. I only have Netflix right now.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I'm not the biggest on winter Olympics! I am all about Shaun White though, since it's his last one. I am die-hard for summer Olympics. My husband is obsessed with all of it and it's always on.. haha!

    ReplyDelete
  57. I've been watching primetime as well, and it's pretty bad, haha. We'd been debating whether or not to get Peacock (again, since we did it for the Summer Olympics) or not. I love the illustrations!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Olympic coverage hasn't been that great in years. I'm also catching primetime coverage, but that's about it. Those illustrations are beautiful.

    ReplyDelete
  59. A Star trek-athon sounds good ! I started one last year, to rewatch all the series in order, then the films, but I still have to make more progress ^^ Great pictures, thanks for sharing :)

  60. I love the artwork this week! I'd love to explore that world, too. 😊

I hope you are having a great week. 🌞

  61. Ha! I just watched the Winnie the Pooh movie recently for nostalgic reasons with my youngest two kids. It took us back. Hope you have a great rest of your week!

  62. I sprang for the Peacock coverage but I can't watch it on my TV so it's not working out that well for me. Sigh. Watching YouTube videos after the fact seems best for me.
