Sunday Post #184

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

March is finally here. In reading news I'm happy to report that with one exception all of my reads lately have been pretty good. In cat news I have two cats who have spotted the baby chipmunks running around outside and are eager for the kill. At least I think so... what would they actually do? I'm not sure. Although the way the one's tail twitches, and the little throaty noises she makes, I'm a little afraid of her. Or would be if I was prey.

Trust Issues IV went up this week and I have Trust Issues V scheduled for Wednesday. I have a bunch of reviews coming along too and as I said most of my reads have been great. The problem I have is my schedule is kinda full, so some of these are being posted weeks after I've read 'em. #bookblogger problems, I know.

Last week I reviewed Six Wakes and will have my review for Winter of the Gods this week. And A Darkness Absolute. Winter of the Gods I wasn't feeling. Absolute on the other hand- fantastic. And The Rains was surprisingly good.

  4. The Kelly Armstrong book looks good. I see her books around a lot but have never read any of her books.

  5. Having a ton of reviews is an excellent problem to have! It's great when the reading really starts to flow. :D

    Have a lovely week, Greg!

  6. I cannot wait to see your thoughts on Darkness Absolute (which I haven't started reading yet). And yeah, I worry about some of the sounds my cat makes, he's a tiny delicate flower who never grew very big but becomes convinced he can catch a pigeon everytime he sees one in the garden. Normally he can be found surveying his kingdom on a window sill or sleeping in the dogs basket. I think cats like to think they can catch things but they often won't know what to do with them when they do.

    1. Oh I loved it. Better than the first one (I thought). And I know- my smallest cat is like the runt of the litter, she's the smallest of the three I have and she's the one in the window acting like a lion!

  9. Glad to hear The Rains was good. I almost grabbed it from my library a week ago. Now I will the next time I see it. I bet the chipmunks wouldn't stand a chance against your cat. Hope you have a great reading week.

  10. Poor chipmunks! When my dog was younger he was obsessed with squirrels and I was always scared he would catch one!

  11. Yay! I'm happy your reads have all been pretty good so far this month, Greg! That's great. And I love that your kitties are excited about stalking the new prey that's arrived. A few years ago, we had baby chipmunks around and my kitties were on the attack as well. As to what they'd really have done if they could get to them?? Play. I'm going with play. *haha*
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Glad to hear all your recent reads are good! I'll have to go check out your latest "Trust Issues"!!! :) Have an awesome week!!

  14. Looking forward to your reviews! A Darkness Absolute actually didn't work as well for me as I'd hoped, and The Rains was a letdown for me too, but I'm glad to hear you had a good experience with both! Winter of the Gods is queued up on my to-read-next list, hope I can get to it soon and see how that goes!

  15. I am loving Big Little Lies....and I also really like all of your images today...especially that last one, with the balcony.

I haven't read any Kelley Armstrong, but I'm tempted.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog. Enjoy your week!

  18. Well, cats are predators, after all. I hope the chipmunks will be faster than the cats! Freddy is going bananas these days over all the birds chirping in the garden. He runs out like a rocket, barks and runs after them. Then he comes back inside for a nap before he starts all over again ;)
I love the Ex Machina and the Unexpected Meeting art, Greg! Beautiful.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  19. Every time you say "in cat news" it cracks me up lol. But awww, poor chipmunks :-/ If the cats do end up catching them, they'll probably bring them to you.

That's awesome that most of your reads lately have been good! You have me itching to read The Rains now. I swear it's the one book on my shelf that my eyes keep gravitating to every time I look over there lol.

  24. Hi Greg, Cats and chipmunks... From my experience - yup, they will catch them and kill them... But maybe that only happens in darkest Africa! Hopefully your cats will be more peace-loving. Oh gosh - I forgot about Big Little Lies again! Need to put that on my reading schedule. I always enjoy watching your graphics, really don't know how and where you get hold of them!

Wishing you a great week and I've actually managed to do a Sunday Post. Hop on over...

  26. There are a few chipmunks that live under our front porch and the dogs go nuts every time they see them from the window. But I am pretty sure if Yoda ever actually got near one he would not be nearly as brave!
    have a great week!

  27. Chipmunks, eh? We have slow worms, frogs, hedgehogs and foxes that regularly visit the garden - but thankfully we don't live in squirrel country and these days, we don't own any pets... I enjoyed your review of Six Lives, which certainly sounds right up my street. Have a great week, Greg:). My Sunday Post - https://sjhigbee.wordpress.com/2017/03/05/sunday-post-5th-march-2017/

    Here's my Weekly Recap!

  35. I still have to read Big Little Lies....maybe this week.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It's hard to believe March is already here. It's good to hear a majority of your books have been enjoyable. I've also have a good streak and so far I just have one that I'm disappointed with and debating on DNFing (it's Wintersong which is getting mixed reviews). I don't have cats but our dachshund always barks like crazy when she sees anything (people, cats, birds lol) outside. But I don't think she would do anything. We can see the hair stand up on her back but I would be surprise if she attacked lol. I hope your cats don't go crazy for the chipmunks lol. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't believe March is here! AW poor baby chipmunks--they are the cutest. But I know both my cats would eagerly love to kill them. I had a mouse problem just outside where I keep the bird feeder outside and I actually let Frida hunt them down. Am I a monster? maybe, but Frida was happy. LOL

Hope you have a great week! ~Aleen

  38. Ooh, nice sea-and-dragons picture! I feel sorry for your baby chipmunks, at least if the cats get to them. Sounds like they both have the instinct of hunters. One of our cats does, but the other seems rather baffled by squirrels and birds he sees through the window. He quickly gets bored of the little red dot, too. I think he's a Ferdinand (as in the children's story about the bull) in feline form.

  39. Dang it, I never read Big Little Lies, but now with all the hype, I really want to watch the show. BUT I always like reading before watching. Goodnews is, I don't have HBO, so there's that. Have a great week, Greg! Lauren - Obsessive Book Nerd

  40. You have some good reviews coming up! I am so tired of seeing Six Wakes being reviewed though! I just need to GET THAT BOOK for once. Lol

  41. Yeah...my cat sometimes runs from window to window seemingly chasing something outdoors. I'm reading books faster than I can post the reviews too. Hope you have another great reading week.

  42. I really need to read Big Little Lies! Everyone seems to love it and now with the new show people are raving about it again and I feel left out. haha!! Hope you have a great week!

  43. Loved Big Little Lies! I need to start watching the miniseries. Thanks for the reminder! I hope you love An Absolute Darkness as much as I did! Beautiful Pinterest pics! :)

  45. Iadded Winter of the Gods and Rains to my Amazon wish list. I'll be grabbing those on my next buying visit. I've been reading on a lot of posts that we all seem to have lots more books to review recently. I think a see a light at the end of the tunnel, but being buried so deep, I'm sure its false light. LOL Have a great week, Greg.

  46. That's awesome that most of your recent reads have been really good! I've been experiencing the opposite lately, lol, and am hoping to finally find a book that clicks with me soon. A Darkness Absolute looks intriguing; it's been a long time since I read a Kelley Armstrong book. Looking forward to your review! :D

  47. We don't have chipmunks here. I wonder if a cat would go after them? I guess they are a bit like an oversized rat. But of course cats love to chase things that move!

  48. I was always glad that my cats were indoor cats, so I never had to worry about them bringing home any furry "gifts" for me, ha! :P

  51. Oh, I wish I had that problem, my schedule being too full. Haha! I've been a bit lax this past week or so; I need to pull it back, so here's to the fresh week!

Lots of great pictures shared this week also.

  52. I really need to get to that Kelley Armstrong book -- She's one of my go-to authors.

  53. I'm glad you had a good reading week. For the exception did you DNF it or does it take a lot for you to give a book such status? What kind of cats do you have? My nine year old is dying for one but she's allergic so Santa couldn't bring kittens last Christmas. We're thinking about getting a dog but we'll see. Thanks for dropping by first and for your cheers. I worked out today with a DVD since it rained on and off and then had to do chores and buy ingredients for tonight's fried rice. Have a good evening.

  54. I have Six Wakes on my shelf to get to. I'm really looking forward to it. Hope you have a great week.

  55. Chipmunks forced us to get a new pool liner so I'd be tempted to let the cats out. (Did I just say that?). So glad your reads have been great. Are you bracing for the snow that is coming? Lets hope the weather people got it wrong!

  56. Great pictures again! Makes me think of everything from Moana to LotR to Ghost in the Shell.
Glad to hear your enjoying your current reads; I've got a few rereads and I'm looking forward to something new.

  57. Haha sounds like my cat when he sees the squirrels and birds outside. Sometimes I swear he cackles at them.

I will have to catch up reading your Trust Issues series, I'm a bit behind but still would like to continue reading.

Hope you have a wonderful week.

  60. Glad to hear you had a good reading week. I had some pretty good reads so far this year, although I had my first DNF this of the year this week sadly.

I like the cover for Winter of the Gods, sorry it wasn't that good.

I hope I can read darkness Absolute soon. I loved book 1, so I hope I enjoy this one too. I am looking forward to hear what you think of it.

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing! I hope this week was a good one too!
