Sunday Post #56

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Another week, another good but busy one. I had a guest review from my daughter and a couple of feature posts.I'm hoping to have another Bookstore Spotlight this week as long as I can get the post finished. I have to say the features have been fun and a nice change of pace.

I saw the Guardians of the Galaxy movie and loved it- check out my review. Marvel hits another one out of the park. I'm ready for some more Marvel cosmic at this point.

I have a COYER review or two coming up this week, need to link up and see what I've been missing on the linky. Have a great week!

    1. Wonder why my blog on your sidebar is showing a post from a month ago, hmm. Could you delete it, Greg, and then add it again if you want? I have a new site address but the old one should redirect it. Thanks!

    2. I'm looking forward to it, my current read is disappointing me just a bit, not that it's bad but just not what I was expecting. Maybe Counterfeit will sui t me more as it's a sequel as well I've been looking forward to.

I will update my sidebar right now- thanks for letting me know! I should have noticed that...

  2. Very productive week for you, Greg, and some nice new reads. I'm captivated by the cover of The Wild Dark Flowers and The Counterfeit Lady cover is calling to me too. Will have to check those two out.

    1. Thank you Catherine. I'm especially looking forward to The Counterfeit Lady as the first book in that series was quite good.

  3. I also saw GotG and have a review coming up on Wednesday. I am not a big comic book/graphic novel person so the Easter eggs don't hit me. I like how they pull so many names from different cultures in to the mix: Ronin being a Samurai without a master, Thanos being a Greek god, Gomorra being, well, Gomorrah.

    1. Looking forward to your review! I was surprised how much I liked it. My review probably focused too much on the Easter egg aspects, more so than a general review, but yes it is fascinating to mull the possible origins of the names they come up with. :)

  4. My hubs took our son to see Guardians and LOVED it - and he's usually pretty picky about his Marvel & Stan Lee movies (I lum p those all together, sorry!). I'm just sad I had to work when they went! Another DVD viewing for me, sadly! Glad you loved it, too!

    Enjoy your week!!

  8. The Counterfeit Lady looks good, and fun. I may add it to my wish list. The Guardians of the Galaxy has been getting positive buzz. I may have to watch it when it comes to DVD.

    Have a good week!

    1. I think you would like it, the protagonist is a sort of amateur sleuth working with an archivist society- which I thought was a neat idea. The first one was one of my faves from last year.

  9. I am not familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy so I'll probably wait to check it out on DVD. I am glad you liked it though.

The Wild Dark Flowers looks good. I still need to read Rutherford Park. The lady on the cover reminds me of Lady Mary Crawley for some reason. Probably just the posture and the pearls.

    1. It's definitely one to see if you like movies like that. Lots of humor along with the action.

WDF is good although I liked Rutherford better- but I'm not finished with it yet so we'll see how it finishes. I agree about the cover- she does look like Mary!

  11. My stepson saw GotG and loved it too. The previews haven't appealed to me, but I'll have to check out your review. I saw Lucy Movie this week and really liked it. First movie I've been to in a theater in IDK how long.

Man eating bugs?! Scary! I'll have to check it out! Have a great week Greg :)

    1. I was the same way, the previews didn't do anything for me. I went tosee it just to see it, and was pleasantly surprised. Usually it's the other way around, the trailers are sometimes the best part of the movie and I end up disappointed, but not this time.

      Have a great week Berls!!

    1. I think you might like it if you like English country house stories, although you might want to start with Rutherford PArk, the first book. Thank you for visiting!

    1. Go see it, it's a lot of fun and laugh out loud funny at times!

WDF is disappointing me just a bit, but I'm only halfway through so it's early yet. I think maybe I was expecting a little more intrigue in the family, kinda like the first book, and this one is a lot more about the war- although there is, of course, family drama going on too. I am enjoying reading more about th characters, it's just not grabbing me like the first one did...
