Cover Love - Journey to the Center of the Earth

Journey to the Center Of The Earth- is there a more evocative book title out there? Of course when this was written it probably seemed a little more plausible but there's still a lot of imagination here, and as I've scrolled through various versions of this book I've been struck by how many amazing covers there are. So here are a few of my faves.

  2. I love me some vintage sci fi book covers. They always make my imagination run wild. Modern covers don't have the same childlike wonder.

  3. Great post! I actually found the one for 35 cents buried in a stack of books at a new thrift store I found, and grabbed it. I don't know how they find them, but they have lots and lots of older books which are so cool to look. Hugs and Happy Monday! RO

    1. I love the variety. And I saw the bluish one where it looks like they'r coming out of a cave one of my regular commenters posted it a while back and I loved it! I was surprised how there are so many!

  8. Those are some great covers, I like the 2nd and 3rd ones best.

Funny enough, (nothing against this book I know it's a well loved classic) Journey to the Center Of The Earth was on a required summer reading list when I was in grammar school and it was one of the books that made me NOT want to read books. Ugh. That and The Red Badge of Courage. Oh my gosh. Why people? lol. Finally Animal Farm came along on the required reading list and that was much better.

    1. I love those. And that's interesting! Full disclosure: I've NEVER read this book. Although I did read 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (another concept I adore) and was bored to tears. So sometimes I just like the covers. :)

  11. Of course I love the Rock Paper Books edition. All their covers are so gorgeous. I also really like the second one and the one near the end with the volcano. I like the art styles! I can see why you like your faves though. I'm guessing giant mushrooms must be a thing in the book? Lol.

  15. I love the first and the fourth one because of the styles. They kind of have a modern style but also a vintage style of sorts that has a nod to a past time and I really enjoy seeing that.

  16. Wow, I had no idea there were so many cover choices for this book. The one with all of the mushrooms is my favorite. It looks like art.

  17. Has anybody come across the Alien Voices version? Alien Voices is a series of dramatised classics, of which this is one. It’s produced by Leonard Nimoy and John De Lancie, who also perform in it, along with some other Star Trek actors. John De Lancie was the nephew, Leonard Nimoy the uncle. Worth digging up if you can get it, and great fun.
