Happy June! Hope everyone had a nice week. Mine wasn't bad, I got a little reading in and it's finally like summer around here! Things have kinda settled into a routine and I'm here for it. Give me some lazy days and some reading time, in a hammock somewhere, and some time to devote to my Netflix queue as well. I'll be a happy camper. How about you? Any summer plans?

I had a lot of fun with Movies That Suck this week. My feature was Urban Cowboy, and yeah it's as bad as it sounds. Fun to watch though. This week will be Ex Machina, a pretty good movie that I'm still going to give the treatment to. In more of an appreciative way, of course. :) Some of the upcoming stuff should be fun too, like Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Last week I posted another Sexy (?) Lyrics post. And my discussion this week will be- Do You Search For Books? Wherein I relate a story of a search that I undertook with my girlfriend of the time-  is there anything better than exploring bookstores together?

I just realized this week that the same guy plays this Bond villain and General Veers from The Empire Strikes Back. Check out these clips of his work. I love how coolly confident he is with Vader in the second clip.

  1. No summer plans except getting stuff done in the house and garden. I do hope to start getting more films watched. I saw a pile of questionable biopic films on true movies this week and most weren't up to much! Might do a post about it in the next few weeks. Weather here is too warm for me-your weather would finish me off!

    1. Ha it's been TOO hot! Sorry about the films- hopefully whatever you watch next is better. :) And sometimes no plans is good.

  4. Happy June! I am finally done with school for the summer and it will be a welcome break - my position is pretty stressful, as you might recall from my posts about it. It will be a good time to cuddle up and read with my babe! We're signed up for the summer reading program (big surprise) and we will be visiting all of our fave summer places - libraries and museums here in town. And LOTS of time at the swimming pool too, can't forget that part.

  8. My summer plans: books, books, books, some Netflix! I hope you have a great week, and you reminded me I have to watch Ex Machina.

  9. My summer plan is 1. Work, 2. Read, 3. Relax xD

  10. I still need to watch Riverdale! I'm going to binge the series at some point this summer. I'm currently going through the anime series Fairy Tail. I started it ages ago but never finished. Each episode is only about 20 minutes long, less if you cut out the intro and the credits, so I can squeeze a few in throughout the day.

I hope this summer isn't blistering hot, and all the mosquitos suddenly die.

  12. It is definitely feeling like summer here. I wish my husband liked to read. It would be great to search bookstores together! A hammock sounds like a great idea!

  13. I enjoy watching Urban Cowboy periodically, because I love the music. But I don't like how Bud treated Sissy...what an MCP! LOL.

Enjoy your week...and thanks for visiting my blog.

  15. Ah yes, summer is near. My plan for this summer is a road trip to Cal. I love driving and seeing everything on the way. It never gets old plus I get to listen to a bunch of audiobooks, how great is that.
Hope you enjoy your weekend. xoxo

  16. Yay for summer! It felt very summery here today--not necessarily temperature wise, but in how we spent our Saturday. It was kind of nice because we didn't have any rehearsals and so we got to spend some time at the park and library as well as an arcade. It was a lot of fun. I'm ready for a day in tomorrow though. I look forward to your discussion post about searching for books.

I hope you have a great week, Greg. Happy Reading!

  17. Love the Price of Murder cover. Oh yeah, I am all for the lazy days of summer. I do not have a hammock, but we do have some cool chairs on the deck and I am tan from reading out there! Have a great week Greg!

  18. It's winter and freezing here. Have a great week :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. It's winter here, I'm currently half under a duvet and wish I could find my gloves haha (though to be fair, it's probably not most people's idea of cold :P ) my plans involve reading books in front of the heater, and staying indoors when it rains!

I watched a video the other day about sleeping in a hammock, apparently it's good for your joints and stuff as there's no pressure points. It got me curious.

    Have a wonderful week!

  20. Yaay for summer but I have no plans, and probably will not have any this year although I would love some days off from work to just read in the sun!Ex Machina is one my list to watch! Looking forward to hear your thoughts on it!

  21. I'd love to see your search for books discussion :) I don't think I do that or have ever done that. I have been buying books online for far too long to remember :D

  22. I totally forgot that Riverdale is on Netflix, my daughter and i are going to have to binge watch it this week. Enjoy the week ahead. Quite reading in a hammock sounds delightful.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I'm enjoying summer and relaxing days too, Greg. Getting ready to start binging Riverdale. I think I'll start from the beginning. Love those Conan bits.

  24. So far we have no plans this summer but hoping to take a staycation if possible. Would be nice to just lump around the house for a week. :)

My daughter and I loved Creature from the Black Lagoon, she cried at the end. I believe she was routing for the wrong person. ;) lol

Need to start binge watching Riverdale season 2. I am looking forward to doing that in the summer too.

Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  25. Great for the fun movies! I haven't done one for a long time. I'm mainly TV shows these days.

  26. At this point I think we're going to have a fairly quiet summer and mostly stay local but there's a bunch of places I'd like to explore that somehow we've never gotten too. I love the Star Wars/James Bond overlap. It reminds me I need to get back to the James Bond books. I have Dr. No next. Have a great week!

  27. You know I have you to blame for my current book hunt (which will tie in quite nicely with your upcoming post) for the Pet Avengers. And my wallet isn't liking you :) I really like the art work for Fireplace. It looks kind of cozy in a science fiction way. Hope you have a wonderful week and if I managed to get into a hammock, I can see the pups running through and spinning me around!

    1. Oops! Sorry... :) I hope you like it if you get it, the art is quite stunning. And yes to Fireplace! One of my favorite images this week! I wouldn't mind having that one on the wall.

  28. Sadly we don't have a big trip south of the border (USA) trip planned apart from a weekend in NY state. To much to do around here and we just had to buy a new car so its going to be a local vacation for us. As long as I can get some reading and netflix in I am good.

  31. It's finally summer around here too and I'm spending more time outdoors cycling. Gotta soak up that sun! My reading has slowed down but I'm reading some good books so that's good. Hope you get to lounge on that hammock.

  32. I don't have any big summer plans yet. I'm kinda with you and just want some lazy summer days where I can read and relax. It has poured here for the past two weekends so my lazy reading days have been inside but I'm wistfully eyeing my deck and new patio furniture for when we have some sunny, dry weekends.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not doing anything for summer. We try to stay inside as much as possible during the heat of the Vegas summers.

  34. Hahaha Greg reading in a hammock is a good plan! Now again I can only comment under my Google profile (no idea why) but it's Sophie at Beware Of The Reader here. And visiting a book store with your significant one can be heaven if you are both bookworms!

  37. I forgot to mention that Monument Valley VR trailer you posted last week. I play the android apps and I love those gameg. Maybe someday Baz will invest in a VR player and I can play that version. ☺

Be kind to Creature from the Black Lagoon. It's one of my favorite old SciFi movies. Ha ha. 😉

Have a wonderful and less freakishly hot week. 🌞

  38. No grand summer plans for me! But I rarely have them, so that's pretty normal :) Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of my favorite Universal monsters! I hope you like the movie :)

  39. No summer plans beyond the norm, reading, movie watching, blogging. :) I love Creature from the Black Lagoon!! :) If you need some cheese watch some animal attack movies from the 70's and 80's..oh boy...lol.

I am trying to decide if I want to watch the rest of the second season of Riverdale now that it's out..lol.

    Have a great week!!

  40. So... there's a lot of badass fighting in Sky in the Deep? LoL I've been seeing a lot of talk about this book lately and a lot of people have been enjoying it. Your gifs make me want to pick up the book. :)

  41. Hello, Greg. I just survived my youngest's party. Do your kids have friends whose parents RSVP last minute when they've had two weeks? How fun that you and your girlfriend have fun exploring bookstores together. Do you two have the same book interests? My husband and I read different genres pretty much; Harry Potter is the only series we have in book common. As for summer plans, the husband keeps changing his mind on where we'll be holidaying at the last week of July. But I plan to enroll the girls in swimming so they get some exercise and water.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Seriously, how is it June? My summer plans... ALA of course, and I guess job hunting since it's not been very successful thus far ha.

I like the cave picture too. The one two above it looks like a giant zucchini descending from the sky but I don't think that was the intent. Also, Sky in the Deep GIFs are on point!!

  43. It's definitely summer here with a couple days into the 90s here. But most days the past week rained at least part of the day, making it steamy too. This week is more 80s and not rainy. I hope to get out in the yard. It needs it. Anne - Books of My Heart

  44. I haven't read a Rachel Vincent novel in forever. Sky in the Deep is another I would like to read. We have been having crappy weather. More rain than anything else. I am hoping this week it is better!

  46. No big plans this summer, but there are a lot of fun events/activities happening around where I live that I hope to do. Maybe some drive-in movie time, lots of swimming, etc.

  56. Summer is here!! I am loving it. My flowers, the birds, the breeze. I am good with this sort of summer, not blazing hot yet. I am not looking forward to that. I am also enjoying porch drinks every night, when it is cool but beautiful out. Enjoy your week! I will have to check back for your movie post!

  57. I have no summer plans really, other than try not to go crazy due to work. I do have a goal not to have to turn on my heater at work...it's literally 80 degrees out down here and the people at work have the air on so high that my body attempts to put me to sleep from being so cold. It's like they haven't dealt with GA summer heat before, this isn't even hot. It's just pleasantly warm, lol.

Amazing art finds as always! I hope you have an awesome week!

  60. June already, where does the time go? Honestly, I wish I could sit back in a hammock and read -- or even nap! Me and my guy brought our puppy home this week and while she's a delight and we love her, she's also 100% needy all the time. Not a lot of downtime for reading, I'm afraid. Fingers crossed that changes soon! :)
