Sunday Post #205

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It's been a busy week. Started out w/a hot air balloon festival and it was a great night for it, although weather the night before prevented them from going up. And Comic-Con was huge last week, I've included highlights. Some of my favorite shows had some pretty good panels- The 100, Dark Matter, 12 Monkeys. Orphan Black has been killing it - can you believe there's only three left?? I've got some SDCC fun below and then I take a break this week from the cyberpunk images to revisit another fave artist.

  1. I'm still not caught up with Orphan Black... I can't wait to now that you say it's really good though :)
I have to check out all your recent reads, they look really good!
Hot air balloons are so pretty. Too bad they couldn't actually take off, though.
Have a fantastic weekend and happy reading.

    1. Hi Lexxie! Orphan Black is great!

Yeah the weather didn't cooperate the first night, but they did go up the second, thankfully.

  2. Wow, a hot air balloon festival sounds pretty cool! And rather romantic, I'd say. Glad you had fun.
I've also never been to a Comic-con in the US, so I would LOVE to attend one, one day. Beautiful pictures and great cosplays!

  4. There is a hot air ballon festival this weekend and next weekend about an hour away from where I live. It is so neat to watch all of them take off and the different types of balloons. I haven't watched Orphan Black. I have two episodes left of Big Little Lies. My friend has been watching Ozark with Jason Bateman and I guess that is a good show.

  5. I'm pretty much caught up to Orphan Black, and it's one of the best programs I've seen. I went to a New York Comic Con years ago, and it was fabulous! Seeing it in person was just phenomenal. Great pics and love the pulp cover this week. Hugs...

A hot air balloon festival sounds awesome!! Although I'm afraid of heights, so I don't think it'd be a good idea for me ;)

Enjoy those books and have a great week, Greg :)

  12. Ah, thank you for the excuse to watch The 100 Sizzle Reel for the 1873rd time ;) Can't watch the other stuff because maybe someday I will actually watch them, you never know. I am sad that SDCC was over, it was fun to stalk! And NO I cannot believe there are only 3 Orphan Black episodes left! Especially since I only started watching it like, what, a month ago? How can it be over? I only have 7 left. Sad.

The balloons are SO pretty- it is sad that they couldn't go up though. (I imagine the owners of said balloons were even more cranky hahah.) I am SO glad that you loved Secret History, and I am dying to know how A Map for Wrecked Girls is! Pascal's pictures are gorgeous too- my favorite is the porch one, but they're all quite lovely, thanks for sharing them!

    1. You are welcome! I did enjoy it a few times. o.O And 12 Monkeys you should watch as I hope to hook you on that showtoo, someday. Ha ha

The ballons WERE cool, and they did go up on Sat, but the night before, they got weathered out. Secret History was really good, I thought, although like some reviewers I thought a certain relationship didn't really appear until late in the book, and I thought it could have been introduced/ developed earlier? A Map for Wrecked Girls is good, a little different than I expected, but I'd say a 3 star maybe even a little more?

I LOVE that pic with the friends and the porch.

  18. SDCC is a bucket list thing for me. Someday, someday....I did really enjoy The Secret History of Us, but I wish we got a little more at the end. It was something, just not enough. There was a hot air balloon festival near us too. I think Pat Benatar played. I loved her when I was a wee young girl.

    1. Me too, I think. I mean part of me doesn't want to mess with the crowds, I've been to other cons and love em but that one is SO crowded- but then again, those panels would be awesome! And I liked Secret History too- totally agree, that certain relationship needed a LITTLE more development.

      I saw Pat Benatar once!

  19. I've never been to a hot air balloon festival before but they look so cool! And I have loved all the cool stuff which came out from SDCC, I always love the panels and all the extra trailers you get. I saw the one for The 100 and I have to say I know I'm way behind on the show but I will have to catch up because I have obviously missed such good stuff.

I love your images on this post, they make me want to sit with a good book and a blanket and just read. I mean, I love all the pictures you share, but the ones which have normally everyday moments are some of my favourites.

Thank you, I like some of those relaxing, chill moments pieces too.

  21. A hot air balloon festival! That sounds awesome! And comic-con! I love all the cosplays and love seeing how inventive some people can be - and how authentic looking so many people turn out!

I'm interested to see what you make of A Map for Wrecked Girls. I close my eyes every time I see it flashing by on NetGalley - technically I shouldn't be taking any review books until October...... Technically.

Love that pic of High on Top - very atmospheric.
