Sunday Post #156

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Well the Olympics are done and I think all told it was a pretty good Games. Yeah Rio had problems but everyone seems to have survived and there were some thrilling moments. I read more this week than last although the Olympics still took up most of my time. But I'm doing okay on reviews so all is good.

This week I'm taking a break from Top Ten Tuesday to post a Tagline feature- I've seen a few of these over the last few years but I haven't seen an active one lately, and I love a good tagline. Sharing them is fun, so Tuesday will begin my Tagline Tuesday feature, which will be semi- regular. I'll also have my thoughts on Time Siege. Oh and I saw that Sci-Fi Month is returning this November.

    1. Yeah I'll miss 'em. My favorite events were last week so I'm kinda missing those, but I'm still watching. What will I do when they're done? Oh yeah- read.

  3. I want that Jungle Treehouse! And the cat but I've had a little bit of kitten fever lately though I definitely don't need one. I didn't watch as much of the Olympics as I wanted but I did get to watch some. I missed most of the gymnastics though which is my favorite. Have a great week!

    1. I know! And kittens- these two were kittens last year and man did they tear around the place. Although they still do. Sorry you missed the gymnastics! :(

I think about participating in Sci-Fi Month every year but I just don't read enough Sci-Fi to do it justice! I used to read more of it but somehow fell out of habit.

    1. Me too. They're great and I'm always bummed when it's over. :) Glad your weather is nice- we've been muggy and had bad storms today. Even a few tornado touchdowns, but not by us.

  11. Funny how a cat can look so smart and smug. LOL Going to miss the Olympics. I'm reviewing a book next week where this guy couldn't stand either candidate so he nominated his dog. And the dog is winning!

  12. Haha I'm still cracking up at the water bottle thing. But I once tried to use a salt shaker by shaking it while it was still right side up, so I guess I'm not one to talk lol.

Gah that cat is so cute! I like the one where his/her paws are crossed. And the black bottom lip is adorable.

It does suck that the Olympics are over, but I guess I'll be more focused now since I spent so much time streaming the gymnastics online and could never really multitask very well while watching lol.

    1. That was like my favorite thing of the week. I watched it like three times (okay, more). She ws just so matter of fact about it.

Yeah the cat is a male, and he has a sister too. It's like cat mania around here. The first two are from when he was a kitten and he's obviously bigger now in the last ones lol. I will miss the Olympics but yeah my reading has been pretty lackluster amd it will be nice to have time again.

  13. I am laughing so hard over that Olympic clip! I would SO be the girl with the upside down bottle šŸ˜‚ I enjoyed the Olympics, there were some good moments, but I wasn't as invested as I was in past years. Your cat is still extra cute, of course. I want to LIVE in that "Shores of Orion" picture- it's stunning! And I kind of need to know what you think of Vicarious, I feel like it NEEDS to be a win for you, you've been so looking forward to it!

    1. I know, I LOVED it. She just so calmly flips the bottle! I liked the Olympics but whole events that I used to watch I didn't, or just never got to. So I feel like I watched a lot but there's a lot I didn't see too?

Thanks about the cat! He's ridiculous. :) And I love that pic too- it looks so awesome and otherwordly, and I love the stream just flowing along. And yes I feel the same way about Vicarious! I need to enjoy that one lol.

  14. The water bottle incident is hilarious! The second to the last cat pic looks like a painting. I love it. I didn't care for The Wanderers. I will be interested to see what you think. And as always, thank you for the art you post. Have a stellar week. :)

    1. Isn't that great? And thanks- glad you liked the pics (and the art). I've heard mixed things about The Wanderers, some people hated it and others were mixed, so we'll see.

  15. I feel like the Olympics just flew past. These last few days there were less sports that interested me though. It's going to be weird not having sports on every day. Weird things happened though with the American swimmers and all. Lol.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They did go by fast. And yes my interest dropped this week as some of my favorite sports finished up. And those American swimmers- that was embarassing frankly, I couldn't help but think that's why people don't like Americans lol.

  16. Cute cat, she has white paws just like mine. It's so cute and I love how clean they keep those little white patches!
I'll miss the Olympics now but I do find I was very cynical watching this time, wondering who was on drugs and who was legit talented.

    1. Aw thanks, he's a boy but he has a sister and they both run the place. :) And they are cute. I feel the same way, with all the doping stuff it does tarnish the Games a bit because you don't really know who's real or not. Sad really.

  19. I don't normally watch the Olympics but the lack of anything else on I put them on for background noise and actually watched a good amount. It was a great Olympics cause we broke a lot of records this year even with the Lochte thing.

    Enjoy your reads!

  20. Now that the Olympics are over I hope to get more reading done! I love all the fantasy pictures you put up. I especially love the jungle treehouse. I think the treehouse in Swiss Family Robinson was always my favorite part of the movie. I like all the alternate candidates, too.

    Have a great week!

    1. Me too. Thank you, I'm glad you like the pics. The Swiss Family Robinson treehouse was always a favorite of mine too, I remember the first time I went to Disney World and saw the treehouse there I was so excited. Another time I went and it was closed for refurbishment and I was so bummed! :)

  21. I enjoyed the Olympics but glad they're going off-- getting burned out on them about now. Glad to finally see other sports, but I had to watch in daytime to catch them.

Is that a new cat of yours? Or do you have two-- cat pics always draw the comments, lol.

Love those Middle Earth artwork but the shores of Orion, wow. It's interesting how there is someone walking all alone, and some kind of structure in the distance.

Have a great week as the summer flies to an end-- where did this year go? I'm afraid of going shopping because someone somewhere will already be putting up Halloween/Thanksgiving/Christmas items in their store and ruin the anticipation of Fall...

    1. I'm about ready too- some of the scandals cooled my enthusiasm too. The doping and the silly American swimmers- I love the idea of the Games but I run to the cynical too and after a while I'm done. And I have four cats but just had to put one down- kinda sad. He was old though and it was time.

I love that Orion pic, with the otherwordly sky and the person on the beach, and that structure. It makes me want to know more!

  23. I didn't watch the Olympics...bet you're not surprised...LOL. I was intrigued, however, by the fact that my second son actually attended them in Rio...and I'll be looking forward to hearing his thoughts. And seeing his photos. I am pretty sure he had told me he was going, but somehow the memory escaped me...and then I saw his Check-in on Facebook.

I am the worst mother ever! Laughing here.

However, my two oldest are globe-trotting people, with my eldest living in Europe since the early 1990s. I guess we can call him a full-on expatriate. Especially now that he is married to a Czech woman. He is officially becoming a resident.

So...how did this become about me? Oh, yes, I really hope you enjoy Truly Madly Guilty, and now I'm going to have to check on The Originals.

Love that Jungle Treehouse. Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

    1. Ha ha that's awesome that your son was able to attend. I'd be worried about Zika and unrest although I guess the brazilians don't take too kindly to that. I have a relative who lives in brazil part time and they love it there.

My cousin teaches overseas and he's becoming an expatriate too, it's been over 5 years now and he stays on. And I think the Czech republic would be neat- there's supposedly Czech or Hungarian back in our ancestry but I've never researched it.

      You have a great week!

  24. I want to live in the jungle treehouse, it is so cool! I think since I saw Swiss Family Robinson all those years ago my heart has wanted one! The Olympics have gone by really quickly and Team GB have done really well and I think we are second in the table which is excellent. I'm looking forward to watching the Paralympics, those guys and gals are truly amazing.

    Have a great week!

    Here's my Weekly Recap!

  31. I'm allergic to cats, so I have to get my fix online. Thanks for the cute pictures.

I'm trying to remind myself that SciFi month isn't until Nov and I still have stuff to plan that comes before it. It just fits in perfectly with my personal efforts to restore the balance between SF & Fantasy in my library.

  32. That cat is adorable! I'm finally going to get to start watching Game of Thrones because a friend is going to let me borrow his DVDs of season one this week. I'll be sure to check out your CC post this week as well! Thanks for visiting my Sunday Post earlier!

  33. Ahhh your cat!! He looks like a much skinnier version of mine (who is a whopping 19.5 pounds - and that's after he's lost two pounds this year haha!). How old is he? (She?) ...cats are my kryptonite. I basically want to adopt them all and just lie in a pile of kittens all day long. I would find that life very fulfilling. And I would totally vote for a Dany/Tyrion presidency! WORLD DOMINATION FOR SURE.

  34. Oh I enjoyed the drink bottle, hadn't seen it. Just watched a little of the closing ceremony and pleased that it has all gone pretty well for Rio.

  38. Your kitty is adorable!! I've enjoyed the Olympics as well...I usually don't really watch much of the Summer Olympics except gymnastics and diving but found myself watching a lot more this year...I'm still not into basketball, soccer etc...but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the track events!

We're reading Truly Madly Guilty for my book club in the next year, I'll be curious to see your thoughts!

  39. My interest was waning this past week with the Olympics, but I can't say I got more reading done. Oh well. Hopefully this week. :-) I love the political trailers. Haha

I hope you have a great week, Greg. I likely won't be around much this week, blogging wise. Work has gotten the better of me.
