Sunday Post #111

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

It definitely feels like fall now. We cooled off this week, with temps in the 70's in the afternoon but 40's at night. And of course it feels colder than it is, simply because after 80's last week even 70 feels chilly. We're in October now- the month of turning leaves, bonfires and apple cider. And things that go bump in the night. Frightfall starts Monday and runs all week- a scary readathon. And SciFi Month is coming in November- a month long celebration.

This past week I reviewed Tokyo Killand Continuum- I'm really liking that show. It's a Canadian production and if you aren't watching it, you should check it out. Good stuff. I also had my weekly A Dance with Dragons post and a Bookcover Spotlight. My Netflix binging continued, I finished up Bloodline - I'll need to find a new show to watch once I finish up Continuum.

Next week will be busy- I'll have my Frightfall start up post on Monday, and I'll be reviewing Bloodline as well. This week on A Dance with Dragons we'll check in with Davos, and another Bookcover Spotlight

SciFi Month runs all through November- you can check out the details here. #RRSciFiMonth and @SciFiMonth.

  1. Death Sits Down to Dinner looks good and I've got Guaranteed to Bleed coming up on my list. We seem to have skipped fall and gone straight to winter. It's grey and drizzly and the temps are only in the 50s. I'm not liking it! I enjoyed your Tokyo Kill review and am looking forward to picking that one up. Have a great week!

    1. I'm looking forward to both of those! We've had rain and some bleak weather ehre too the last few days, although we did have some sun last week. It's supposed to get nice midweek again, but not over 70. I love fall even though I'm not crazy about the cooldown- I could be happy with 70's all year. :)

      Have a great week Katherine!

  2. Have you watched s4 of Continuum? I meant to keep an eye out to see when it was on in the US cos I suspect it'll be out on DVD not long after. I think I've mentioned I own s1 & s2 but am yet to buy s3 (though I've watched it).

Keen to hear more about Bloodline!

  4. I don't know what The Explorer's Guild is about, but the cover is fabulous!! I also am super excited for Paula's new book! The Incident on the Bridge also sounds really good. I have no idea what Guaranteed to Bleed is about but the cover! I want it just out of pure cover love :)

And seriously, how is it already October, and fall? I do not approve of the speed at which time is moving forward. NOPE. Hope you have a fabulous week, even if it does happen to be fall ;)

  7. Ha! The month where things go bump in the night indeed :) We don't really have the same tradition of Halloween here in Switzerland, but especially the commercial part of it is starting to arrive.
I'm intrigued by the Kevin Costner project, I'm going to see if I find out more about it.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading, Greg.

  10. I am struggling not to turn my heat on, which is ridiculous because my goal is always October 1st. Ha ha. I love pinching those pennies. I loved the Warriors movie. I was thinking of giving it rewatch after seeing all of the anniversary articles. I am looking forward to Sci-Fi Month. Have a wonderful week. :)

  11. I did start watching Continuum then I got sidetracked, I must go back to it.

I loved The Warriors though I haven't seen it in years, it was so cool from what I remember!

Here in Scotland it has been a mixed bag, freezing in the morning and hot in the afternoon. Not quite at defrosting the car stage but not far off!

    Have a great week!

    1. Oh my gosh Continuum- I liked it at the outset but had no idea how twsity it would get. Just finished S2 and started S3- I'm totally hooked now. It definitely gets better...I don't know who the good guys are at this point.

I watched the Warriors as a kid and thought it was so cool... LOL. I laughed when I saw that- looks like a lot of people got into it!

  12. It's really turning Fall here as well. The leaves are turning a nice yellow, but we've been having a few days with a great sun in the afternoon, and it still feels pretty warm then.

I am curious about the Kevin Costner book and the Paula Stokes book too. I look forward to your thoughts on them.

I can't wait for the next season of Game of Thrones. I hope a lot of our questions will be answered (especially regarding Jon Snow). That is interesting about the Tower of Joy. I hope that is really what they are filming.

    1. I think it is. It was hard to see because the video was shaky, but with the fighting it looks like it could be the scene as described in the book.

I'm curious about the KC book also, it looks fun.

I'm very excited to see the Tower of Joy make it on the show if that truly is what they are filming...

      Have a great week Steph.

Our weather here is surprising, since I woke up to the loud boom of thunder. It has repeated itself periodically, whenever I feel calm again...LOL. The rain is a blessing, however.

I am still binge watching Bones but I think my next watch will be Gotham since I have been wanting to watch that for a while now.

Kevin Costner book looks very interesting! I will have to look that one up!

  21. It's really feeling like fall here too, although we did have a lot of sunny days, so it's cool, but not cold. The explorers Guild looks interetsing, I hope it's a good one. I don't watch as many tv series, so I cna't give you any recommendations, beside the animated star wars series ofcourse. I like the cover style for Gauranteed to Bleed, is it a good cozy mystery series? I am having a bit of trouble finding my place with the cozy mysteries. I have read two of them now, but were good, but not great. I hope you'll have a great week!

I really can't wait for Halloween, I love it when the leaves turn those beautiful colours! It just makes me a bit nostalgic, I don't know why :) I'd never be able to do a scary read-a-thon though, I don't do scary :P
The cover for The Explorers Guild looks really pretty! (again, girly going *ooo pretty!* he he), it's a really beautiful cover :)
