Sunday Post #114

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This was a beautiful week- sunshine with mild temps. It's full on autumn now and the combination of colored leaves and blue sky make this a favorite time of year. I had a good reading week but SciFi Month is approaching and I've got a lot of posts for that set up.

This week I finished Continuum S4 - what a bittersweet ending. I'm going to miss that show and those characters. And thanks to everyone for the suggestions last week- I think I'm going to give Orphan Black a try and a few of the other suggestions.

BOOKISH NEWS

SciFi Month runs all through November- you can check out the details here. #RRSciFiMonth and @SciFiMonth.

  1. That beach picture is so very tempting, we have different kinds of colors here, green, yellow and just a little orange. I hope you'll love Orphan Black, it's a riveting story and the main actress does a wonderful job. I *love* that winery video, not only is the recipe mouthwatering (I'll have to try it, thanks), but the estate is absolutely gorgeous ! Deviant art is superb, as usual and it always makes me laugh inside when I remember that Jabba the Hut was originally portrayed from Sidney Greenstreet. Have a great week-end, Greg :)

    1. Hey thanks for the suggestion last week! :) I just started watching it and so far it's very intriguing. I love a good mystery... Yeah that winery is a nice place, and some of their recipes aren't half bad either! :)

  2. Oh, that beach pic is lovely! Almost makes me wish it were summer again. Almost. :D

I still need to try Orphan Black; currently I'm binging on NCIS. I'm about 1/3 through season 8. I thought I knew but I'm learning new things as I watch.

That soup looks so good, mmm.

    Have a great week!

    1. Yeah I like this time of year... just not crazy about what comes after! I'm sorta between shows at the moment- after Continuum and Dark Matter I'm not really seeing anything that grabs me. I'm going to try your suggestions too...

Ohhhh... Continuum s4 - I'm waiting for that to arrive out on DVD. I hope it offers some closure!

  6. I love autumn when the sky is clear to help show off the beautiful colors of the leaves, too, Greg! I hope the nice weather continues for you next week.
I have read Need now, and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to see what you think of it.
Have a fantastic week ahead and happy reading

  7. That beach picture looks fantastic and is making me dream of lying on a beach with a good book. Hope you enjoy Maybe in Another Life as much as I did. Also I didn't realise that you wrote stories too, I will make sure to check it out! Sounds like a fun theme.

  8. Wonderful beach view. I am hating that summer has passed. Seemed like just yesterday it had arrived. Oh, well, the good thing is it will return again next year. :-)

  10. Weren't those temps last week amazing?!?!?! I loved it! That picture of what I can only assume is Great Bear is absolutely beautiful - the blue is so intense!

Ha! Torch Lake Sandbar Party sounds disgusting :P It looks like Jobbie Nooner - we just have a river current and big barges to carry the pee away (blech!)

    Have an awesome week!

  11. The DevianArt pics are beautiful, Greg. And Torch Lake sandbar party looks and sounds like something to stay away from. I have to get busy with SciFi posts this week for SciFi month. It's nearly November...eek. Hope you have a great week.

  13. I loved the first season of Orphan Black, but I haven't had time to watch the following seasons yet, but I will make sure I do. I will have to look at the Sci-Fi Month information. It has been a great a fall weatherwise this year (other than the snow a couple weeks ago). Keep the Star Wars stuff coming. I finally got to your Blogging vs Real Life post and I loved it. Have a wonderful week.:)

    1. I've watched two episodes and wasn't blown away by the first one, the second one got me kinda interested. :) I'll probably continue but it's not a must watch for me like Continuum or Dark Matter. But maybe I'll like it more as it goes...

  15. The weather this week here was gorgeous, we had one rather hot day that was a little confusing I think Mother Nature missed her coffee that day. I can't wait till it gets a little cooler and the crisp smell of the winter like wind. Oh it's my favorite time of year.

I am so excited about Star Wars, the trailer gave me chills. I know I won't see it in the movies but I can't wait till it comes to TV. I need to watch all of them with the kids since they haven't seen them yet.

Have great week Greg! Happy Reading!

    1. We've had gorgeous fall weather. Even today it's sunny and beautiful. I'll take it! Star Wars looks great, I'm skeptical with Abrams at the helm (I know some like him, other don't, I'm somewhere in the middle)- but yeah, the music and the ships flying around- it's hard not to be excited!

  16. Oh that blue is just stunning, gorgeous photo. Hubby and I have just started on Continuum, and I kept going with Blindspot, I wasn't sure but I'm enjoying it now. Have to say The Blacklist is freakin awesome, hope you give it a go.
I've seen Maybe In Another Life on quite a few blogs, curious about it. Have a great week, looking forward to those posts.

    1. I hope you like Continuum. The first season is good but I liked season 2 better I think (I think I said that about The 100, too). LOL. But I really liked the characters- Kiera and Fonnegra. And the twists and turns too. Oh, and Garza! She rocks, frankly. :)

  17. I love the surrealist paintings you are posting. They are amazing! I didn't like Orphan Black too much. But I only watch a couple of shows each year.

  22. The beach pictures are lovely though I don't know if I should be scared or reassured that urine levels didn't reach hazardous levels. It feels like if you have to say that there's a problem. I watched part of the first season of Orphan Black and loved it but just never got/made time to watch it. Enjoy your reading and I look forward to seeing your posts this week. You've got some interesting stuff coming up!

  23. I love the bright blue skies this time of year too. Not looking forward to the gray, cloudy days of winter though. Can't wait to go see Star Wars. I just finished watching the first season of I Zombie and am now watching The Walking Dead. Looking for something new to start too. There's so many to pick from.

  28. I've heard great things about Orphan Black and I need to watch that too. But lately I haven't been in the mood for watching TV so I'll just wait until everything is on Netflix lol. October is almost over so that means Star Wars is getting closer! I can't wait!! Have a great week Greg!

  29. Fall is beautiful in my part of Ohio too with the hills and trees. I've been enjoying all the color though I'm sad that the weather is getting cooler. Today I wore a sweater to church but thankfully it did warm up as the day went on.

Your cat story sounds interesting. I'll have to stop back to read it.

  30. Eww, poor Torch Lake! I've been seeing Maybe In Another Life around. It looks interesting. Soon those beautiful leaves will be falling! Have a great week.

  31. Good that you had a good week of weather, not to be sneezed at! Hope some new TV shows take the place of one that is finished. It is always sad to say goodbye to one that's good.
Enjoy those reads, and hope the two cats haven't been given a too hard a time!
