Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a great one. Mine was pretty good- mostly quiet with pizza, games and a bit of wine to ring in the new year. Not a bad start to 2020. Played some Monopoly and Yahtzee and didn't even watch the ball drop this year- which to be honest was fine for me since all the commercials and whatnot are irritating anyway.
It's been interesting to see everyone's best-of posts and resolutions for 2020- I don't really have any resolutions per se, but there are some things I definitely want to focus more on. Posting flash fiction and stories again is top of the list, and maybe I'll actually remember to Bookstagram occasionally? Who knows! Anyway hope everyone has a great weekend.

Here's some more drum badassery with Sina.
Happy New Year Greg! Sounds like you had my kind of party. Good luck with Bookstagram. Consistency is the hardest on Instagram.
ReplyDeleteReading is going to be so much more relaxed this year, just reading what I want when I'm in the mood and fitting in other stuff too! I don't have many goals this year and each one is relaxed so that is ok by me! Happy New Year Greg and Mrs Greg!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I hope you’re able to get back into bookstagram. I unfortunately gave it up a long time ago, but I admire people who are able to keep it up and post some lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I love quiet New Years too, I'm just not the party animal that I used to be🤣 Looking forward to more of your stories.
ReplyDeleteLove the campfire on the beach! How I wish I was there. :D
ReplyDeleteYour new year's eve sounds perfect! I fell asleep before the ball drop and my husband woke me up just long enough to say happy new year!
ReplyDeleteOur NYE's sound pretty similar. The Husband and I stayed in, played some backgammon and went to bed by 10. LOL Those drum covers are awesome!
ReplyDeletePlaying games is a good idea any night. Sounds like a perfect way to ring in the new year. I, myself, was asleep. I haven't done anything since I rang in 1994. Good luck with your "resolutions". Can't wait to see what you have for us.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I didn't do much on New Year's Eve either, but we did watch the ball drop. I learned it's just not the same without Dick Clark. Oh well, I hope you have a great week and a great year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg. Ours was quiet too. We watched a little of the first season of Elementary and enjoyed hot fudge sundaes. We even banged pots and pans at midnight, which seems to be my daughter's favorite part. I am terrible with Intagram, but I am trying to get back into Litsy. I hope you enjoy your current reads. Have a wonderful week, Greg.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you wrote fiction! That's awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe got back to Colorado Springs on New Year's Eve morning, crashed for a bit, and in the evening played Battleship and poker with my dh and boy. My 17 year old daughter went to bed early.
A goal of remembering Bookstagram would be good for me too---I'll do so well with it for a while and then basically forget it exists. Oops!

Your New Year sounded great. I always enjoy quiet activities, and I was reading up until the ball dropped. Then I was ready to start the next day with my First Book.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books and the new year.
Happy new year. I'll follow on Instagram
ReplyDeleteI don't pay much attention to the clock on the New Year although I did check Twitter and saw everyone's Happy New Year tweet and responded but that is basically all I do. It has always been quiet for me on New Years Eve. I don't think I'm missing much either. My Sunday Post
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big party person so my New Years was quiet too. I can't remember the last time I watched the ball drop.
ReplyDeleteNight Shift looks interesting!
The thing I love most about vintage sci-fi are definitely the covers! Case in point, the one you have featured there - I too noticed the "Venus or Bust" on her spaceship, but those eye-stalks are too much! How random and hilarious!

That sounds like a good to way to being a new year or any day actually. I have given up on subscribing to the TV mainly because of these advertisements. We went to the nearby beach to watch the fireworks and then had a quiet night inside.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

Happy New Year! We had a quiet one also. Ahhh the quiet campfire. I listen to the Relax Melodies app every night while reading in bed, you can pick from a bunch of soothing sounds and mix and match them.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
Nice quiet New Year. I do hope that I will be doing that next new year. I would rather relax than go out.
ReplyDeleteI made my bookish resolutions but that is really to keep me on track since I seem to be losing my way, often.
I hope you have a wonderful week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Happy New Year, Greg. Same here with the New Year´s resolutions. I was never able to reach the set goals concerning healthier food or do more sport. So I started with little steps and will continue to keep changing things, book related and personal, I´ve started already last year. Happy reading and enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Hope this is a good one!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!

A Happy New Year to you, Greg:). We also had a quiet New Year's Eve - only watching the London fireworks display on the good old Beeb, who don't do adverts. Yet... I am stepping back from taking part in any challenges this year and am going to focus on the Netgalley arcs I've requested, while trying to read more from my TBR lists.
ReplyDeleteI'm the worst at consistently posting on IG. It's one of my goals, too. Happy New Years and reading!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year 🥳
ReplyDeleteThe video cuts a little close to home right now (ordinarily though it’s a great thing to do)
Wishing you a great reading week
I used to watch the ball drop back when Dick Clark was hosting it. Now a days the hosts are obnoxious and get on my nerves so I don't bother. I went to bed at 9pm and put in my foam ear plugs so I didn't hear any fireworks.
ReplyDeleteHappt New Year Greg! And ours was also very hush hush LOL
ReplyDeleteThat "Venus or bust" cover is very imaginative LOL.
ReplyDelete"Posting flash fiction and stories again is top of the list".
Looking forward!
Happy new year!
Happy New Year!

Happy New Year Greg! Sounds like you had a fun New Year's Eve. We finished watching The Mandolorian.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week and happy reading!
I don't think I've watched the ball drop in years. We don't have network TV, and then the little guy is always too tired to stay somewhere else til midnight ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't made any blogging resolutions or taken up any challenges.I think my reading has changed. I'm reading more non-fiction and listening to more audiobooks on my communte to work, and I think I'd like for that to continue. I hope you have another great blogging year.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I love the fire on the beach show. I miss the beach. The JP Delaney book looks so good. That's an author I've really been wanting to read. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI love the Jedi Padme. I spent New Years Day watching The Rise of the Skywalker. Not a bad way to start off 2020.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great day!
Haha, my poor bookstagram account. It’s so neglected. Maybe I should add that to my resolutions. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Happy New Year. Didn't watch the ball drop either, we played a few games and then went to bed early. Got the JP Delaney book sitting on the stacks.
ReplyDeleteThis holiday season was a weird one for me. I'm loving seeing everyone's best of lists, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year of reading! I so enjoy the book or magazine covers you manage to unearth!!
ReplyDeleteYay to the peacefulness of the New Year, and nothing wrong with yummy pizza, wine and board games to bring it in. Hope you are dong well, and Happy New Year Gorgeous Greg! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteI think that sounds like a great way to spend New Years. I don't really make resolutions either. Hope you have a great 2020!
ReplyDeleteLove the sci-fi covers! We make dinner for friends and then watch a movie and talk ... nothing very wild going on around here.
ReplyDeleteI was up at midnight New Year's Eve but was deep in a book and not watching television. I have made two resolutions. We'll see how that goes. Come see my week here and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great way to see in the New Year. Hope the wine tasted good and you had some success in the games being played.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! We played lots of board games on NY too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great reading week!
Happy New Year to you too, Greg! My NYE was pretty low key as well, board games and movies.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg! I didn't even think of turning on the TV to see the ball drop - those shows tend to annoy me. This year I was tired so I just went to be like usual and missed any midnight festivities. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have several resolutions this year, but they are all simple and do-able, I think. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of a quiet New Year. :) Glad you had a good one. :) The fire on the beach makes me ready for summer!! This winter has been so weird, I think I am ready for it to be over. Lol.
ReplyDeleteSina is so talented! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
ReplyDeleteI love campfires on the beach! Sina is great to. 👍✨
I hope your year is off to a great start and that you'll be able to work on getting more flash fictions out there. Looking forward to see what you are coming up with!
