So last issue our hapless protagonist picked up a naked girl on the road in the middle of the night and takes her back to his place. She has a shoulder injury (gunshot wound?) so he should have taken her to a hospital frankly, but Ethan's not the smartest cookie. She slept on his couch- seems fine- but she kinda freaks him out with how quiet she is and her inability to communicate clearly, plus the fact that she seems to have never seen food before. Can the "girl" only mimic what others say?
Meanwhile, some of the local teens are debating what the loud "BOOM" at the end of last issue was all about. Adam's dad Bernard is religious and thinks it might have been a miracle- after all, no one knows what caused it and the pouring rain just stopped when it occurred. Of course, others think Ethan might have something to do with it. Hmm. Ethan, by the way, goes to see the local cop Wes (the same guy who threw him out of the bar the night before) since he's not sure about the "girl". Although not before the "girl" initiates sex with him. And drunk as he still is, he doesn't exactly fight.
The next morning the "girl" is sick in the bathroom while Ethan's gone. Bernard tells Ethan that some of the townspeople think he did- something- the night before to cause the "BOOM". People that were at the bar have been discussing. And Wes decides to come see the "girl" for himself- as does Taylor, Ethan's ex who has been hanging around Wes lately- such a small town. Anyway they arrive at Ethan's place and make a disturbing discovery- the "girl" has laid eggs - eggs that are hatching.
Such a weird "girl" . . . I'm not sure if I should be, but I'm kinda curious about those eggs that are hatching, lol

I'm hooked now. Keep these recaps coming!
ReplyDeleteThat cover! *fans self* Oo-er!
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with the 'ignore that we should take this person to the hospital' trope - it only really makes sense where there's a *reason* - like, 'oh we can't take her to the hospital 'cos they'd find out she's a mutant/alien/werewolf/vampire/robot/super-spy/on-the-run and then our cover'd be blown!'
'And drunk as he still is, he doesn't exactly fight.' - yeah... we need to talk to the egg-laying girl about the concept of consent, and how drunk consent is invalid consent. #JustSaying
