I think I beat my slump! As some of you know my reading has been off lately- big time- and I haven't reviewed a book (other than graphic novels) in well over a month. Well, I can happily report that that seems to be a thing of the past- I finally finished a book! Harbor for the Nightingale (book #4 in the School for Unusual Girls) was excellent and just what I needed. Also, I'm into Wilder Girls now and so far, so good, so maybe the slump is history? 

This past week was Halloween, obviously, here in the U.S. and we had... snow! Not really snow that stuck on the ground, but more like rain/ snow. If you live in the Midwest you know what that is. Anyway we got a few kids braving the elements but considering it was cold and windy not that many. I guess I have candy left over to eat. Such a shame.  

 And... since it's now November 2019, I can also post this.

    Oooh, that's right, you're in the midwest, didn't realize you were in the areas affected by snow - that's so crazy, I hear they had to cancel all kinds of flights and stuff too. I think I'd freak out if I got snow in October, I'd like my fall weather to last just a little longer :) What we got was lots of rain, but fate was with the children because the real bad weather held off until all the trick or treating was over. It was warm, but with the downpour it would have been messy :) Great costume theme for your household!

    It looks like you guys had fun at Halloween, even if you got less kids stopping by for tricks and treats than you thought.
    Many people have started celebrating Halloween here, too, but we don't. Three kids did come ring our doorbell, though, even with the porchlight off - and they were very cute about not getting anything here - they even showed me how much candy they had gotten elsewhere :D
    YAY for being over the slump, Greg! That's good news.

    I'm hoping for a few good reads for SF month. I've only set aside five books so I don't put any pressure on myself as I'm also doing two other challenges this month!

    The Midwest had snow and California is on fire. What crazy weather is this?? Glad your reading slump is over. Sometimes all it takes is a really good book😁

    Yay for beating the slump!

    You had snow for Halloween? We had rain - LOTS of it. I'm sure it ruined more than a few plans. The worst thing is, it's been rain galore here since then. We'll get a short respite on Monday, and then...back to getting wet for a few days.

    On a side note, I hope you had fun on Halloween, and blasted some '70s music to get in the mood LOL.

    Will you have dedicated posts for sci-fi months? I love the genre, and I always hope to discover some new favourite!

    I'm loving the Tree House, and the Snooze Zone is so much fun!

    I asked my daughter about the snow (in Chicago), and she called it a non-event. I guess 4 years in Syracuse makes you immune to early/late snow flurries. I think I see what helped you out of your slump. You need titles/series with the word GIRL in it. Wilder GIRLS, School for Unusual GIRLS. I see a pattern. Good to hear you got your mojo back.

    Okay I feel kind of silly for complaining about how cold it was here on Halloween when you had snow! Love the costume and hope she was able to stay warm! Yay for the slump being broken and hopefully it will stay far far away for the rest of the year. Have a great week!

    Yay for getting over your reading slump! I hate it when I don't feel like picking up a book. We had some snow flurries this week and Halloween was pretty cold. I don't feel like we really had much of a fall. Love the art! Have a great week, Greg!

    I grew up in the mountain west, so trick or treating was often in the snow. We were motivated by the candy to go out anyway. Glad your past your slump. Those are the worst!

    It got cold here on Halloween but the rain stopped before it could turn to snow. Those pics of Darth Vader visiting Padma's tome are really stunning.

    Snow in October is unusual for you, isn't it? By contrast, we are still having freakily mild weather - so far no frosts and it's November... not one:). I'm personally thrilled, but I do hope it doesn't mess up the wildlife too much... So glad your reading slump has eased, Greg and I hope it's gone for good - have a great reading week:))

    You are not the only one who has been in a slump. I have started and abandoned more books in the last month than I have all year. Nothing is grabbing my attention this last week. Ugh. Let’s hope it gets better. Happy November.

    Halloween is always a lot of fun. We got cleaned out of candy this year! Luckily, the kid brought a ton back or there'd have been none left for the after trick or treating movies.

    I didn't hand out candy this year. It was dark, stormy and windy and Mr. Barb had to work the evening shift so without him and Booker T, Cass and I just decided to hibernate. We do have plenty of candy on hand though :) Good luck on sci-fi month and I love the 70's theme.

    I live in the Midwest, too. Most of the snow had melted by Halloween night. Despite the cold, there were still 76 trick-or-treaters.

    A good book can help with a reading slump. I liked your review of Harbor for the Nightingale. It's been rainy, windy and cold here too. Perfect for cuddling with a page-turner.

    I only had a handful of kids for tricker treaters. Including an adorable little baby Harley Quinn :) I was just like take all the candy girl!

    That Halloween weather was crazy! I remember wearing a winter coat over my costume many times lol. Dig the 70s theme you all had going on!

    We had snow last week too in Iowa. Beggar's Night was cold but no snow. My adult son dressed up as Chewbacca and the kids loved it!

    I am glad your reading slump seems to have passed. A 70's theme is always fun for Halloween! It's too bad the weather wasn't cooperative in your part of the country for Halloween. We took my daughter trick-or-treating, and there were quite a few kids out. We didn't see too many at our house though--it's kind of out of the way, I guess. So, we have a lot of candy left over too.     I used to live in Colorado and snow was like some unspoken rule for Halloween. Often is was the first of the season too. Hope you still had a great time otherwise. Glad to hear you are pulling out of your slump!

    Sugar Shannon, I like it, for the obvious reasons 😂 Also wow am I disappointed about how November 2019 turned out! I mean, not even in old sci-fi did anyone think we'd have no flying cars AND a creepy old racist president! This seems wrong.

    I am so glad you're liking Wilder Girls too! It's perfect for this time of year, tbh. I hope there's a sequel! There needs to be. Also YUCK sorry it snowed on Halloween. It poured here, but at least it was warm (though it did storm, so maybe not?) Ugh, it's gonna be all snow all the time, soon. Sadness. But on the plus side, extra candy for you!

    We don´t celebrate Halloween that much. But you can buy all the stuff you need for it here too. I am glad that your slump seems to be over. I need to write some reviews too, but the energy for it is missing ...
