This week I'm looking at Bark at the Moon by Ozzy. Yes, this is a last hurrah for Halloween kinda post lol. I didn't manage to fit this in beforehand. This song is a trip and I love the riff- one of my favorite rock tunes from the decade of decadence, and the lyrics are of course perfect for this time of year!
So what do you think?
Lyrics
Screams break the silence
Waking from the dead of night
Vengeance is boiling
He's returned to kill the light
Then when he's found who he's looking for
Listen in awe and you'll hear him
Bark at the moon
Years spent in torment
Buried in a nameless grave
Now he is risen
Miracles would have to save
Those that the beast is looking for
Listen in awe and you'll hear him
Bark at the moon
Hey, bark at the moon
They cursed and buried him along with shame
And thought his timeless soul had gone
In empty burning Hell unholy one
But now he's returned to prove them wrong
So wrong yeah baby
Howling in shadows
Living in a lunar spell
He finds his heaven
Spewing from the mouth of hell
Those that the beast is looking for
Listen in awe and you'll hear him
Bark at the moon
Yeah bark at the moon
Yeah bark at the moon
Bark at the moon
My memories of Ozzy from back in the day are sort of crazy. He really was the Prince of Darkness

And to me he will always be the dad on tv shuffling around the house while the dogs poop everywhere and the kids shout at each other, lol
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid I was afraid of Ozzy. Looking back, now he makes me laugh. This is a great song though.
ReplyDeleteAs many times as I’ve heard this song, I’ve never paid attention to the lyrics until now. Perfect way to wrap up the Halloween posts.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I prefer The Song to the Moon, by Dvorak. If you are not familiar, this video ha the subtitles: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHM3zMBQxTQ
