Song Lyrics #17 - Whiskey Fever

This week I'm looking at Whiskey Fever by Dorothy. You don't hear a lot of hard rock anymore but I would say that Dorothy is one of my favorite rock bands. They have that bluesy rock sound I've always liked, and Dorothy can sing. Like Lzzy Hale from last week she's an amazing vocalist. Most of their songs are short and punchy too, which I kinda like. What does this have to do with lyrics? Well, not a lot I guess, but their songs just work. This is the kind of band I want to see in a smoky dive somewhere.

The lyrics for this one are pretty straightforward. Not super deep but we've all been there, right? Maybe living the wild life in college or whatever. Although in this case is she talking about partying or something deeper? Has her life been taken over by alcohol to the point where she has a problem? Can go either way I guess. In the meantime, I think it's a good rock song.

So what do you think?

Lyrics

Oh momma don't you leave me alone
No telling what I'll do on my own
Oh momma there's a pit in my soul
So deep I gotta fill it up now fill it up now
Fill it up now
Whiskey whiskey whiskey fever
You're my evil
You're my evil
Whiskey whiskey whiskey fever
You're my evil
You're my evil love
Whoa whoa whoa
You're my evil love

Oh momma can't you see that I'm grown
Uh huh
Bad habits been busting my bones
Hell mama's gonna swallow me whole
Lord knows I gotta fill it up now
Fill it up now fill it up now
Whiskey whiskey whiskey fever
You're my evil
You're my evil
Whiskey whiskey whiskey fever
You're my evil
You're my evil love
Whoa whoa whoa
You're my evil love
Whoa whoa whoa
You're my evil love

Whoa oh you're my evil love
Whoa whoa
You're my evil love
Whiskey whiskey whiskey fever
You're my evil
You're my evil love

  3. This does seem like it could go either way---fun or drinking problem?---but it's definitely a great smoky dive bar kinda song.
