Not a lot to report this week. I'm still watching season two of The Rain and Riverdale as well. Some shows are starting to come back to Netflix- Jessica Jones, Dark- so there is definitely some binging in my future! And the first episode of Big Little Lies season two was awesome- you can see my thoughts on it here. In fact I had more fun with that episode than any of the Game of Thrones episodes this season. Also the World Cup is underway and I'm looking forward to seeing some of that.

I just started The Favorite Daughter- so far so good- and I have a few long awaited books coming up soon. It seems to go like that- I'll have a period where a bunch of books I want are coming out, and then some sparse stretches. Ah well. Oh, and speaking of the World Cup, I saw this article on the "soccer girl" aesthetic. Interesting (and apparently it's soccer girl instead of soccer woman because that's already the accepted term?) Anyway... it's the weekend! Enjoy.

Oh and if you want to read an adorable quick story about a kelp dragon (seriously- it's awesome) go here. It's based on one of the images I linked to below, and it's adorable. And it's only a few paragraphs too.

  1. My dad is watching the World Cup but I don't have much interest in it. Between that and the horse racing, I'm struggling for peace to get reading and blogging done!

  6. I've just started watching Big Little Lies and although I'm only one episode in to season 1 I can tell that it's gonna be good so the fact you've enjoyed the first epsiode of season 2 more than GoT means I know I need to watch (although, we can all agree GoT was a bit of a hot mess towards the end). Honestly not paid attention to the World Cup but loving that women's football is finally being shown on primetime telly because they deserve more recognition.

    1. Hot mess perfectly describes GoT. And oh my gosh Big Little Lies- even though they changed some things from the book (mainly the setting) I'm loving HBO's version. And I agree!

  7. Aww I loved that kelp dragon story! It was so adorable. And the art is wonderful as well. I like the one of the boy in the boat a bit better, but I might be biased since I have a little fair haired boy. :)

Have a great weekend, stay dry!

    1. The boat one is adorable- I just love that dragon. The caption says it's a pond dragon, I think? Gotta go look. It's awesome.

  9. I am pretty sure I own two Rouda books. Are they good? I mean, something made me buy them, right? It's been a stream of endless releases, but it will start slowing down in the fall, and we can catch our breath.

  10. Oh, so thrilled to hear season 2 of Big Little Lies has started off strong! Can't wait! :)

  11. I wondered about the term soccer girl. I never want to offend so that's good to know. I loved the audiobook Big Little Lies. Is that on Netflix? We devoured Good Omens on Prime.

  12. Yes yes yes, hope you get to read Limited Wish because I'm sooo curious to hear what you think. I couldn't really gush as much as I wanted in my review, because it felt like everything I loved was spoilery, haha!

  13. Did you notice that the lady on the cover of Heads Off at Midnight looks like she wants to be scared, but the laughter is trying to take over?(lol) Netflix definitely has a way of grabbing us doesn't it? I binged on Season 3 of Designated Survivor, then I laughed out loud with stand up from Ali Wong. Later, I moved over to the Firestick to check out Plus One with Jack Quaid. It was a cross between Wedding Crashers and Bridesmaids and was really fun to watch. I went crazy at the library and picked up about 22 books to add the pile I already had at home.(lol) Hope your weekend is going well! Hugs...RO

I hope you have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!

  16. Hey, Greg! I have The Good Daughter on my wishlist, hoping to get to it this summer. I really liked the artwork called Reflection-- I can imagine some pretty decent flash fiction being done for that one! Have a good week and enjoy your soccer watching.

  19. Oh, I need to read Season 2 of The Rain. I'm still catching up on GoT, though, and I mostly only watch TV while I work out, so it'll probably be a long time before I get to it. Ah well.

    Happy reading and watching.

  24. I can't wait to see Jessica Jones. And I finished the first season of Big Little Lies and it was kinda underwhelming to me. But Meryl Streep is tempting me to try the season 2. I hope you have a great week ahead.

  25. We started watching Jessica Jones last night - honestly, I was only half-listening, but so far, so good!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Really? That's like saying Spider-Boy instead of Spider-Man even though he was in high school when everything started. Just because something is accepted now, doesn't mean it needs to remain that way.

Jessica Jones!! I can't wait to see how she conflicts with her bestie, haha. Did you see the trailer? When she threw her out of a window? It's going to be great. I've been trying to watch the World Cup, but these kids are driving me bananas. They like to play soccer, but it's asking too much for them to watch it. ;)

  27. I haven't written a Sunday Post this week but thought I'd still visit some friendly bloggers ;-)

I did enjoy the last season of Big Little Lies but haven't started watching season 2; I felt they just wanted to cash in on a success, I wasn't sure where they'd take the characters and my warm fuzzy feeling for it would be corrupted. I'll keep reading your thoughts about it.

I hope you have a great week and enjoy your reads, Greg.

  30. I've been doing some Netflix watching lately too, after a long period of not really feeling like watching whole movies or shows. That picture of the dragon reflection on the building is so cool!
