Hello friends and welcome to another weekend.

Okay can I just say- I had issues with Game of Thrones last week. You may want to skip this paragraph if you haven't seen it, because I'm ranting a little. First of all, how does Dany not SEE a fleet when she's in the air? How exactly does one just give their direwolf to Tormund without even... really saying goodbye?? And it's not like they're pets- I'm pretty sure the direwolves go where they want. Arya and Sandor- it's like fan service, like the showrunners are putting the favorites back together- riding down to Kings Landing to save the day? And seriously- Bronn of Highgarden? I mean, that almost felt like a parody to me, if I didn't know better. I just can't with this show right now.

In other news my song lyrics posts will start on Monday. I'm pretty excited for this as the first song I'm featuring is, I think, amazing and I can't wait to see what people think. In my reading life I read a few books- I finished After The Lights Go Out and I have THOUGHTS. And this past week I reviewed The Blue. One of my favorite books. Also... the 100 has been killing it with the first two episodes. Anyone watching? Love that show- and oh when we play dodgeball, I want Diyoza on my team.

Seriously, can you see Diyoza as a mom? "Hang on a sec, dear. I gotta go kill three people. Be right back." I mean, really.

  1. Haha, apparently no one in Westeros knows much about war strategies or tactics. I had issues well before this week's episode but at this point I'm just okay whatever last season I'll just shut up and enjoy :P And nice art picks, that second to last painting, is it just me misreading the scale or is that one big ass eagle!

    1. Right? I've never been a HUGE fan of the show, but you're right- at some point you just want to be able to enjoy it and not get too mad. :) And I think it IS a bigass eagle !!

  2. What he did to Ghost was unforgiveable. Ghost has been there from the VERY beginning, and always stuck by Jon (even when dude was dead). No, I can't even with this show right now. It's seriously pissing me off. I don't care what it symbolizes, or what that action could possible foreshadow, because it was a dick move. Jon is supposed to be better than that, and it seemed out of character for him to do something so stupid.

Also, she saw the fleet. From way up there? There's no way she didn't. And I'm sure her dragons heard the whistling of the arrows long before they made contact. Nope, also not happy with that development.

    1. Unbelievable. The way they handled that was awful. You'd think they don't even understand these characters at all. Crude dialogue, questionable decisions... this show really sucks this season! And yes the Jon of the books would never do that!

I think same. Even if clouds were in the way or she somehow didn't see the entire Iron fleet, I think she would have before the very accurate bolts hit her! Or the other dragon anyways.

    2. I feel like they were trying to shock people with the final season, and it's really not working for me. Jon should never have left Ghost with someone else. What a huge slap in the face to his friend that has stood by him no matter what! Sometimes Ghost was all he had. Stupid jerk.

She was sooo close before those bolt were shot. There's no way the dragons, who can spot a sheep on an empty field, didn't notice ships and bolts. Even if they saw the ships and not the weapons, she should have been wary. It's WAR.

  3. I haven't watched any Game of Throne yet - apart from the very fist episode of the first season. Once they're all out, there may very well be a GoT marathon in my future :D Sorry this episode didn't really work for you! My oldest, who's such a big fan she gets up in the middle of the night on Sunday/Monday now, was disappointed too.
I have watched only the first season of the 100, I tend to read much more than watch TV or movies.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

    1. I've been very disappointed with the whole series, but I'm in a minority- most people like it. Although this season is taking some criticism. I hope you enjoy them when you watch them (more than I do haha)!

Now The 100... good stuff :)

  5. I don't know how Dany couldn't spot Euron's fleet from up there either but surely they must have considered an ambush when they were planning! I mean, Euron KNOWS she will go from Winterfell to Dragonstone so an ambush was kind of obvious. Why not go to Yara in the Iron Islands first! The Ghost thing was explained by the writers as needing to be cutting time in the episode. It still annoyed me that Jon wasn't given the chance to hug him!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Right? And oh I didn't see that about the time... at least we know why they made the decision. Still... seems like they could have found time for an ear scratch or a hug, something! lol

    1. I don't think they will. Stuff like Stannis being alive, the whole thing w/ how Dany's story is gonna be totally different- I think the books are gonna be like night and day. And thankfully! They are screwing up the show conclusion ha!

  8. I forgot that Godzilla had been Marvel at some point!! My brother and I mostly just watched all the old movies and occasionally some of the comics- but where we lived at the time we weren't able to find them a whole lot. It wasn't popular then either, so it didn't help :(

  9. I'm glad I'm not really invested in GOT, since I've only seen random episodes throughout the years, but I'm really enjoying all the snarky comments about this season, it's almost more entertaining to see people's reactions than to watch the show!

    1. Right? I've enjoyed that too! Especially since I tend to be more critical of the show as a rule. I've always felt like an outlier. :)

  11. I enjoyed the second season of Westworld, but I do think the first was better. The show itself is a bit hard to follow, but I love it. Agree with not seeing the fleet. Isn't that the point of flying? And the whole Ghost thing pissed me off, too, but I'm still excited to see what happens. Happy reading!

  13. Yeah... GoT required a certain amount of patience last week and I ran out pretty quickly! It all feels so rushed too! Like they're in an epic hurry to be done with it. It's getting on my nerves. But I'm still hooked and can't wait to watch the next episode.

I didn't realise The 100 is back! I need to catch up with the last season before moving on but I'm excited for the new world problems, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Yeah, last week's GoT was... not the best. Bronn threatening Tyrion and Jamie? Like they can't have him taken out at any time? And my husband was like, why doesn't Dany just wait for nightfall and use the dragon to torch the fleet? Ugh. Too many things just weren't adding up. Looking forward to your lyrics post!

  15. I don't watch GoT, but I can't wait to see your lyrics post.

  16. I also wondered how Dany didn’t see the boats. They could have been hiding in coves around that castle/mountain, but they’d have to come out to shoot stuff. She would have seen them then. Hopefully tomorrow’s episode is less disappointing.

  24. I'm pissed about this last season of GoT there are a lot of things that don't make sense
I was talking about the dany thing with my husband as well, how do you not see all of that
Also, the dragons have been so hyped this entire series and it's like.. ok now
The jon thing with ghost made no sense and it's not part of his character
ugh they are really screwing this up

    moving on
Hope you have a lovely week :D

  25. Ha! I had a mini GoT rant on my post this week too. I loved the episode overall but was really annoyed at the Jon and Ghost scene, the way Dani was pretty much the entire episode, and I really want Euron to bite the big one in tonight's ep.

  26. I don't watch GoT but I know people have been gobbling it up. I'm afraid to give it a go because I've heard GRM has no problem killing off beloved characters. Eeeek! I so need to catch up with The 100. :)

  29. I had the exact same issues with last week's GoT- one of my least favorite eps, ever. The Ghost thing really hurt; I don't think I'll ever get over it. And really- Bronn would go all the way up North just to wave the crossbow around? We're almost out of episodes and we're going to waste time with a garbage scene like that? I hope tonight's ep isn't just more fan service but not feeling very optimistic based on what we've seen so far this season. :/

  30. SO many were annoyed by that ep. I felt it worked. She is stupid and rash, she does not send scouts, They were hiding in a strait behind those cliffs. Even a woman on a dragon can not see everything

  42. I've been seeing some tweets of people complaining about GoT, but I didn't have any context since I don't watch the show. But now I get it, why people are saying it's not making sense anymore.

I love finding new songs, so I'll have to check out your lyrics posts!

I only watched a minute of the pirate thing, but "By the end of it, I might be happy if we were sponsored by some form of cough drop" cracked me up, haha. And all those pirate ships were pretty funny lol.

  43. Really hope to start watching the 100 again soon, I was an avid watcher in the beginning, dutifully waiting for each episode, but I'm seasons behind now. Need to change that!

I agree with everything you mentioned about Game of Thrones, that was a terrible episode! Still need to watch the last one, hope to do that today!

  46. I have only watched a few episodes of GOT, I now shocker.. my husband made me watch the big battle one with the Night King. I am not a fan of the dragon queen. I really loved the first season of West World, I only made it through half of season 2. I am going to pick it back up. I had issues with the whole trip to Japan, especially when they buried the daughter, she could come back. Argh....Anyway, I am going to finish the season and see what I think.

  48. You know, this baby could actually make Diyoza even MORE stabby and trigger-happy, if you think about it. Protecting herself and Eligius was bananas enough, now add a kid to the mix!? Also, oldest baby ever.

This GoT stuff is seriously nuts- I feel like I know so much about it just from everyone's Twitter tirades! While it's entertaining, I really think it is complete garbage for all of you who have been loyal viewers. (Also fine maybe I am a little afraid of karma striking me down for chuckling about this!)

  53. The Pulp Fiction Cover this week is truly over the top, and I love it! People really get into the GOT so much. I was saddened to see that James Corden's Game of Thrones joke was met with an unfortunate Twitter rant where someone actually wished his child got cancer. Corden came back with a brilliant response, but there's no need for meanness over a television show, or for any reason, really. It's cool to disagree but when people start attacking others and their families, I thank it takes it too far. Hugs...

  55. My brother was just saying similar things about GoT. He feels it is too rushed, the writing has gone downhill...I can't say I am a necessarily a fan of how this season is going either but I am enjoying it as much as I can. I will say my three favorite characters are The Hound, Jamie, and Sansa. I don't want to do spoilers so I won't say anymore. Although I really want to!! Lol. Have a great week!
