Cover Characteristics

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Tea

I was going to skip this topic- I mean teapots??- but then I thought of a few and after doing a quick search I found more. So why not? The only thing is instead of teapots I'm just going with tea in general- there may be teapots or teacups but I'm just loosening up the rules a bit.

  1. I like the first two with the libraries and the flowing curtains and especially the cat lol. And "The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" is quite a title, haha. And I like the pink, blue, brown colors of the last one. They go well together.

I was gonna do this one, I had a few covers, but I just didn't love them all and of course wanted to stick with my SFF thing which was difficult, and I just decided not to bother this week.

    1. I like the first two also, especially the 2nd one. And Tea-Time is great I wanted something with humor. :) I also like the one with the stacked teacups- just has a summery vibe.

I almost skipped this one, some of these topics are ? and I like the ones where I can pick SFF titles too. So I don't blame ya.

  2. Cozy mysteries always seem to have great covers. It's one of the reasons why I wish I liked the genre! I like the books with the flapping curtains...just needs a good dog as well!

  4. I bet there are lots of cozies with tea on the cover. My favorite has to be Summer Evenings at the Seafront Hotel. I think it has to be the color combination of the cups set against the beachy background. Great job!

  5. I actually like tea cups more than the tea pots on covers. I like the last three a lot!

  6. A tea cup on the cover speaks of a very constrictive writing on the inside. That's the first thing I'll think of when I see one. :D

    1. Ha I had not thought about what the writing might be like!?!

  7. The Vintage Teacup Club probably has my favorite set of cups but it does seem like a weird subject matter.

  8. My favorite is 'The Seafront Tearoom', but I'm also quite fond of those cozy mystery covers. They remind me of the covers of mysteries I read when I was a kid.

  9. Great selection! I adore the last 4 on your list! I was so tempted to expand to teacups as well but restrained myself.

    1. I like those last 4 too. And I was having too much trouble with just teapots...

  11. I like the topic of tea, teapots, and tea cups. Awesome job with the book covers.

I've actually listened to the unabridged audio version of A Fatal Twist of Lemon.

    1. I thought this would be tough, but once I expanded to tea cups (cheated) it was easier. :)

  12. Looks like cozy mysteries are a hotspot for tea pots, hahaha. My favourite is The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, of course. ;)

  14. A Fatal Twist of Lemon! That cracks me up. I like tea pots. I have a few that have been passed down through the family but I have never used a tea pot. I only heat my water in the microwave (gasp)

    1. I smiled at that one too. What sacrilege (er except I've done it too). :):):)

I was surprised how many pretty covers there are w/ teacups.

  15. Holy cow, that's a lot of teapots for book covers! I find it kind of funny though that I know a lot of people who would rather drink coffee than tea. My own mother cannot stand sweet tea. Great post though.

  16. I basically want all these books. There's something about a teapot on a cover that makes me want the book. No idea why but it's a fact! Luckily I already have pretty much all of these on my TBR already but now I want to go read them immediately. Great choices!

  17. Each one of these books looks great and such beautiful covers.

  18. Hee hee, I take one look at those covers and their tiny little teacups and I have to laugh. I'm a big time tea drinker, I take my earl grey in cups that are literally as big as bowls, no joke :)

  19. I'm pretty impressed that you found so many tea covers! I would have given up, no question. Murder at the Book Group sounds like something we should all be concerned about. And The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul is just fun. These are great!

  21. The first thing I spotted was the similarity between the first two covers - the flapping curtains, bookcases and teacups, but my favorite is the Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul cover.

  22. Tea cups and sets seem to be popular cover sets for cozy mysteries especially (along with cats), I've noticed. You've found a good mix of genres though, Greg.

  23. Oh wow, I never would have guessed that so many books actually have tea cups and tea pots on them. Sure makes for a cozy visual :)
