Top Ten 2017 Debuts

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week's topic is Top Ten Debuts for 2017. I don't really keep track of debut authors so I decided to go with books I'm looking forward to regardless of whether they're debut or not. And since I just did a post on most anticipated reads of '17 I don't want to duplicate so this will be stuff that didn't make that list. Call it a most anticipated of 2017 Part II (although some of these were published this year).

Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1)

The Queen of Blood (The Queens of Renthia, #1)

An as yet untitled Star Wars tie- in by Beth Revis.

One of Us Is Lying

I hate this cover but The Breakfast Club meets Pretty Little Liars?? Yeah I'll try...

Refuge for Masterminds (Stranje House, #3)

This is #3 in the School for Unusual Girls series, and just like book #2 I don't like the cover.

Lost Girls

I'm all over this.

Silence Fallen (Mercy Thompson, #10)

Haven't even started these yet and I'm looking forward to a new release. SMH.

Menagerie (Menagerie, #1)

This is not exactly a 2017 release lol but I forgot until I saw it on a blog last week- I wanted to read this one. So it's back on the list.

Spectacle (Menagerie, #2)

And here's Menagerie #2.

Wilders (Project Earth) by [Cooper, Brenda]

  2. I really want to read Three Dark Crowns this year too. It sounds great. I love the Mercy Thompson series! I started them so so long ago and then went 6 years before I read the 5th book lol. I still need to get caught up, but it's a great series!

    1. I do too. There are certain books I just like more in paperback, and the wait sucks. :)

    1. I about Menagerie and then forgot about it, so seeing it again reminded me I needed to get to it! Bonus is that the 2nd one is coming soon...

  8. You HAVE to read Menagerie. I ADORED it. However, it has taken FOREVER for the second one to come out so I think I'm just going to have to order both and binge them once they come out. I rarely re-read books so that says something about how much I loved the first one! You also reminded me I need to read The Queen of Blood. Off to see if my library has it! Great list.

  12. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can't keep track of debut authors! I really have absolutely no idea. Three Dark Crowns is on my TBR and how can I resist One of Us is Lying?

    1. I really can't. I mean there's enough going on without keeping track of that too! :)

  13. Menagerie sounds so good! I hope you love all of these. I didn't care for Three Dark Crowns at all, but I hope you feel different!

    1. I think so! And I remember you saying that about Three. I'm going to go in with reduced expectations, I'm not sure if I'll like it or not!

  14. OH BUT OF COURSE I'm now looking forward to your review of Rogue One :) :)
I need to stop freaking procrastinating and starting reading Briggs! You statement about looking forward to the new release and "SMH" made me smile :)
The cover o Spectacle is a spectacle :)
Great books. Read them fast I want to read the reviews! :)

    1. I reviewed Rogue One a couple weeks ago if you're interested. Hope you liked it! Ha ha it's weird how I can be all about a series I haven't started yet lol. And I agree- Spectacle looks kinda good.

  15. I don't keep track of debut authors either. Refuge for Masterminds caught my eye because I like historical fiction so that book cover appeals to me. :-)

    1. That series is nice because it's a YA alt history set during the Napoleonic era, and while the girls have "skills" it's not paranormal (or maybe just a whiff). It's more like historical fiction.

  16. I have to go look up Lost Girls now...love the cover.

    1. I hope Lost Girls is good- I think I'm reading it next. :)

  17. One of Us is Lying is on my list too. Three Dark Crowns is really good, I was lucky to get an arc from Edelweiss. Lost girls is going on my tbr and I love the cover!

  18. I just read Three Dark Crowns and it is SO GOOD. It was much darker than I thought it would be. You will love it for sure.

    1. I like the dark sound of it. Three sisters all competing- I can see where that would go dark. :)

  19. I love the cover of Wilders, I want to know what is going on in the city!

  20. I would read all of those based on their covers. Three Dark Crowns sounds really good. The Queen of Blood too. I have been wanting to try Rachel Vincent's books for some time now. Refuge for Masterminds caught my attention too. Great list, Greg! Thank you for sharing.

  23. Lol I haven't read Menagerie yet either. I also haven't started the Mercy Thompson series, but at this point I'm not sure I'm going to bother. I was going to because it's so recommended and because Dan dos Santos lol, but the books are expensive and there's so many and I don't even like shifters... I hope you enjoy all these books though!

    1. Menagerie I totally forgot about so maybe this time I'll read it! It sounds like it has a lot of different types. And with Briggs I don't know- I go back and forth. I like the idea of her world but at the same time it looks a too PNR for me? Like if it's all pack dynamics and romance- probably wouldn't be my thing. But if it's grittier- maybe. I don't know!

  24. These look very interesting. Especially, One of Us is Lying. Thanks for posting!

  25. Oooooohhh! I love the first two and last two covers so much. I know nothing about those books but want desperately to read them - cover mission accomplished! Everybody keeps recommending the Mercy Thompson books to me so add me to the list of folks wanting to catch up with that series this year!

    1. Three Dark Crowns gets me with that cover! And Mercy thompson- I'm so torn about those. I want to try them and if they have lots of fae and paranormal creatures I'd probably like them, but there's like 10 books so... yeah.

  26. One of us is Lying is one I've seen on a few lists, and will confess, I'm intrigued by it. Also, Three Dark Crowns is one I intended to read, and never did. *sigh* Guess there's always 2017, right!? :)

Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland.

    1. I'm glad you like it! It is a pretty cover but I think I didn't like it because it's an alt history in Napoleonic times and I'm afraid the cover doesn't really reflect that? But I could be wrong, and it is a fun series!

  29. Menagerie looks SO GOOD! I'm also really interested in the Rogue One tie in! I just saw the movie over the weekend (finally) and LOVED it! Great list :D

  33. I finally saw Rogue One over the weekend and definitely need to check out that Beth Revis novel! I also really want to read Three Dark Crowns; I loved Kendare Blake's Anna Dressed in Blood, and I usually don't read horror, lol!

  34. I love the Cover for 'The Queen of Blood'. No idea what it's about but I will have a look now xD

  35. I haven't been reading the Star Wars novelizations, but after seeing Rogue One last month and really enjoying it, maybe that one might be worth a look. I've also heard good things about Queen of Blood from the SF&F blogs I follow, so I'd like to read that one, too.

  36. Quite a few of these books are on my TBR list. I love to discover debut books. Didn't read as much last year as I normally do, hope to change that this year.

  37. Love the covers for Three Dark Crowns and Spectacle also looking forward to both books

  38. SAME with One of Us is Lying. The cover is a sad, sad situation but the premise sounds good enough to make up for it! Also, DEFINITELY read Three Dark Crowns- one of my faves from last year! I need to read Menagerie too, as well as Queen of Blood.

  39. Total cover eye candy here; had to look up some of the titles and glad to see a few were on my TBR already! I usually check out what you're reading on GR ^__^.
