Cover Characteristics Humorous SF

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Humorous SF

The rogue topics continue although next week I'll be jumping back on the official topics. I had this planned for a while so decided to go with it. Who doesn't love a bit of humor with their SF or fantasy? I know I do, so here's a sampling

  1. I liked the full cartoon covers that Terry Pratchett did on his covers when I was trying them-I haven't seen the versions above. I like the cover for Castle Perilous!

  4. Oh Hitch-hikers guide is my favourite book ever. The cover on my copy is rather more traditional than the ones here. I want one with mice on now lol.
    I like Castle Perilous too.
    Good choices :-)

  5. The Hitchhiker's Guide book covers are very odd lol. And there is so much going on on that Castle book, though I'm mostly wondering about that guy in the yellow shirt who looks really uncomfortable, haha. The Princess Bride is such a great book though! It's the only one on your list I've read, but it definitely is funny on the inside!

  6. Ah, humorous sci-fi. I recently read Mechanical Failure by Joe Zieja, which has been described as something like Terry Pratchett in space. I love the cover to that one too, it had the title and the tagline: Mechanical Failure. Please restart your starship.

  7. I have always thought that the minimalistic artwork on the Hitchhiker's books was striking and unusual and eye-catching. The Castle Perilous cover on the other hand, while playful, is also very busy and almost looks like it's trying to summarise the story in one picture.

  8. LOVE the Princess Bride, never read the book but I loved the movie, It is one of my favorites and the book is something I have always wanted to read. The Castle Perilous cover is fantastic, I love the whimsy in it.

  10. Love these, they're so fun! So Long and Thanks for All the Fish may be my favorite book title ever. Those covers are my favorites! I love that the robot is frowning on Hitchhikers Guide bwhaha. And those mice look like they've been floated. Sad. There is a LOT going on in Castle Perilous too! I mean, Idk if I want to golf whilst a dinosaur caddies? Maybe I do though. Actually, no, that is the only way I want to golf, tbh.
