Cover Characteristics Retro Cover

Cover Characteristics is a meme by Sugar and Snark- every week a characteristic is selected and we post 5 books with that week's theme.

This week's pick- Retro

Going rogue again- this week I am taking a look at books with retro covers. And since SciFi Month begins tomorrow I'm getting a bit of an early start as these are all SF books.

A favorite cover of mine.

World of Water (Dev Harmer Mission, #2)

This isn't really a retro cover as it's a fairly new release, but it has that retro feel for me.

As the Green Star Rises (Green Star, #4)

Pirates of Venus (Venus, #1)

Love the cover- and especially the city in the bottom right corner, which is easy to miss.

Fandom Mashups

Fandom Mashups

Fandom Mashups is an original feature hosted by Lunar Rainbows Reviews. Every week she proposes a fictional scenario and then we build our own dream team of five characters from five different fandoms to complete the task.

It's Halloween and you want to go out and cause trouble! Who are you taking with you?

Harley Quinn

I mean, yeah

Jeff Spicoli

Always a good time.

Margo

She apparently likes to stay out all night and cause trouble!

April from Definitely, Maybe

April would be a lot of fun to hang with. I love this scene from the movie.

Tyler

Tyler from Point Break- Lori Petty was smoking in that movie.

Sunday Post #166

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This week started off with beautiful weather, 50's and sunny. As the week wore on it cooled off, but it's been a great fall week. Although the last two days have been blustery and cold it's supposed to get nicer again this weekend. The highlight of the week for me was volunteering at a marching band invitational this past weekend- it was a blast! 42 bands from all across the state came to perform and it ran all day- I was pretty tired by the end but it was awesome. Lots of talent. This is the biggest invitational in the state and I would definitely do it again.

This was a so-so reading week. I did get through Fear The Drowning Deep. My review will be up on Nov. 3rd but I can say read it if you like atmospheric tales and creatures from the sea. I had to order a physical copy of The Wanderers so my review of that is coming but it's a week or two away yet. Otherwise- I'm just reading steadily and trying to watch a little Netflix. I kept getting distracted on the Internet this week *cough Pinterest cough* so that may explain some of the extras below again.

Also, SciFi Month starts on Nov. 1st and all month there will be a ton of SF related goodness. You can find all the details here and sign up there as well. There's also a Google doc with all the scheduled posts.
