How is everyone coping? I hope you are all well. I had to laugh this week. My aunt was telling me about how my uncle, ever since he had his stroke, has been hoarding stuff like hand sanitizer, Kleenex, you name it. It'll be all over the house. It's been this way for a few years now, and drives her nuts. Well, now they have plenty of ALL the things. Talk about a silver lining!

I've been listening to MyNoise off and on and the neat thing about that is- you can customize the sounds. It's an ambient site where you can listen to rain or storms or anything- they have a bunch. I just discovered Implanted Memories.

I started Tales From The Loop this past weekend on Amazon and I liked the first few episodes, although the last couple have left me a little less enthused. Is anyone watching?

  1. I want an aquarium bedroom. That would be so cool. Of course, one little leak and it would all be over. I'll have to check out the ambient sound channel. I love things like that when I'm home alone reading. So all that saving of supplies have really paid off for your aunt and uncle. Hope all your family is doing fine.

  2. I can't wait to read To Be Taught If Fortunate. Have a good weekend, Greg!

  3. I really want to get into ambient noise. Thanks for the information! I think ever since isolation I’ve been having trouble sleeping and staying asleep, and I don’t do well with complete silence when trying to get to sleep. Will definitely check this out!

  4. Oh man, I want a room just like in Underwater Bedroom! I'd feel pretty claustrophobic knowing how much water is surrounding me with just a pane of glass to separate us, but the views would be worth it!

  5. All of us paranoid people are feeling good about our extra supply of cleaning materials, toilet rolls, hand wash and goves/masks right now!

  6. Well Greg your uncle would fall into the conspirationist type that I wrote about in my yesteday's post LOL

  7. Thats quite the unexpected silver lining!
The aquarium room looks pretty wonderful

Wishing you a great reading week and good health

  8. I haven't watched Tales from the Loop yet, but I want to. I'm currently watching Peaky Blinders, which I'm enjoying.

    Have a wonderful week!

  9. Who knows how our brain works. At least your uncle's took a useful turn in this emergency...

The Aquarium Room is both fascinating and disquieting.

  10. Glad to hear there's a silver lining to all the things your uncle kept well stocked. Isn't it great when something which is usually is an annoyance ends up being a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have heard quite a few stories like that. Where someone's hoarding tendencies were finally appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  12. That's funny about your uncle's hoarding. I guess your aunt is pretty happy about it now! He's probably like, "Told ya!" LOL That's pretty cool that you can customize MyNoise. The aquarium bedroom pic is so cool!

  13. Wow - don't want to make light of a stroke, but maybe it gave him psychic powers? My dad is a huge hoarder but of course he only saves months of newspapers and magazines, not anything useful.

  14. Your lucky aunt and uncle. There was no toilet paper to be found today when my husband went out shopping again. I wish we were among the hoarders right about now (only half kidding). Such a weird time we are living in, isn't it?

I love The Aquarium Bedroom, although I am not sure how I would feel about staying in a room like that. I think it would make me feel a bit claustrophobic. But it sure would be pretty!

I hope you enjoy your weekend. Stay safe and well.

  15. Passport to Peril looks more like Passport to Amputation but I guess they're on in the same. Also I LOVE that your uncle now is stocked for the end days hahah. I LOVE the aquarium bedroom! But I also assume the creatures would NOT respect your need for sleep 😂 Also LOVE the Farewell color scheme, and Ciranak City is gorgeous too! Also First Shift is like, at once peaceful AND terrifying, love it!

  16. Silver lining indeed! It is impossible to find toilet paper right now and we only have a few rolls left. Plus paper towels. we don't have a major need for sanitizer because we rarely go out, and when we do go someplace public, the minute we get home we both take showers. Plus Eleanor's eczema can get so bad and sanitizer is THE WORST for those poor little hands of hers.

  17. Tales from the Loop is on my list to watch. I love the Aquarium Bedroom. All is well here...just waiting for this to finally end. Hope you are well. Have a great week!

  18. LOL silverlinings in these trying days are excellent! I always have a huge stock of TP, as we're a big family, and I buy in bulk on sale. We'll be good probably until summer :D
The weather here is warming up, and we're on Easter vacation right now. I'm a little sad we can't go to Spain, but at least we're all healthy and safe here at home.
Have a good week ahead and happy reading :)

  19. A happy and blessed Easter to you and yours, Greg! ✝And I like the sound of MyNoise - It reminds me of the Calm app I used, that has some great ambient soundscapes too: my favourite is the crackling bonfire.

  20. Wow your uncle has been all ready for this lock down. I love those underwater pictures and they are triggering a weird fear!

I hope you have a great week ahead.

  21. That MyNoise sounds pretty interesting, and I like how they give you all these different choices to try for the best experience. I think we all have a family member that has us scratching our heads, and then we end up giving them mad props for thinking ahead.(lol) Very cool about your uncle. Happy Easter and be safe! Hugs, RO

  22. Love listening to ambient noise when I can't sleep, so will definitely check that site out. Happy Easter Greg.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I can't sleep without my white noise machine. I haven't watched Tales From the Loop but was planning on it. Skip or watch? Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I love the picture of the aquarium bedroom! I find fish tanks soothing so sleeping surrounded by one would be so cool!

    Happy Easter. Greg!

  25. MyNoise sounds pretty cool. I'll have to check that out.
I love the Aquarium Bedroom as well. That would be pretty amazing!
Happy Sunday, Greg! Have a great week! :)

  26. Hope that you will enjoy all of your books and I would love an aquarium!

  27. It sounds like your uncle knew something we didn't!

  28. I like a Cozy Treehouse with rain sounds.

I am smiling as I think about how prepared your "hoarding uncle" is right now.

The rest of us are struggling for certain items. Going to the grocery store is a treat we no longer have here where I live...we can ask staff to go, but they have lists of others, too.

Amazon only carries us so far. Milk and other items that must be refrigerated have to come from the store. Looking into online store deliveries.

Enjoy your week and stay well.

  29. My mom has always kind of been a bulk buyer. Now that its just her and my dad, its always been kind of a joke. Now, I have to get my toilet paper from her. I call her my dealer now!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hope you're doing well! That is a funny story about your uncle hoarding stuff and them now having plenty of everything. I was able to buy some soap today as I was getting low on that, but still no flour.

That MyNoise site sounds interesting. I might have to give it a try. That Aquarium bedroom picture looks awesome. Have a great week!

  31. Oh yes, some things you just can´t have enough of these days *lol* It is always good to have a silver lining - we need stuff like that to hang in there. Happy reading and stay safe!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I love the cover art for Passport To Peril. I wasn't aware the late Robert B. Parker had written any Hard Case novels.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Your Uncle's story is hilarious! We can't get hand-sanitizer anywhere. We are doing well and staying safe. Not reading as much as I would like, but this too shall pass. Be safe!

    ReplyDelete
  34. It sounds like your aunt and uncle have everything under control. I haven't seen any sort of cleaning product at my grocery store since the pandemic started.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Well I guess years of hoarding has its benefits. I used a ambient noise generator loads when writing for NaNoWriMO. I found it was really useful for training my mind to get into a writing frame of mind, I really should start using that again when I need to get something written.
The only thing that I find I cant find in the shop, is flour, in any form. I am having to improvise and using gram flour for my daughters breakfast pancakes, but so far she is being quite tolerant.

    Here's my Sunday Post

  36. That's so funny about your uncle and aunt! Good for them! I think the sound of rain or a storm is relaxing. I wouldn't mind having that in the background if I want to block out other noises.

    ReplyDelete
  37. When this is over I will buy gloves and sanitizer! Took me 4 weeks to get sanitizer, and as for gloves, I need those for baking! ;)

  38. We have watched the first two episodes of Tales of the Loop and thoroughly enjoyed them - particularly the 2nd one - how creepy! We are also running out of santitizer, which Himself needs. Have a peaceful, healthy week, Greg:)

  39. That is a silver lining. I hoard gauze. I don't even know why. lol I have a huge box of sterile gauze. Maybe I am preparing for a cut that needs bandaged at some future point.

    ReplyDelete
  40. LOL! That is definitely a silver lining, especially since you can't find the stuff anywhere now. I'm honestly coping pretty well. I think being an introvert helps. Give me good books, good snacks, something entertaining to watch on Netflix, and I'm usually pretty content. My husband and son on the other hand are practically climbing the walls, lol. I hope you're doing well. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. That is awesome about your aunt! I now wish I had hoarded more toilet paper. Lol! Although, we're still good for a couple weeks. Thank goodness. My husband listens to rain and storm sounds at night in the dark sometimes before he goes to sleep. I'll have to share MyNoise with him. I like Jody Foster, but have not watched that yet. I'll have to see what I think. Have a great week, Greg, and thanks for stopping by!

  42. I bet your aunt is relieved that they have plenty of what they need :) I love soundscapes. They have a way of relaxing me. We're doing a lot better over here. How are you Greg?

  44. The Underwater bedroom looks so interesting, I'd probably feel claustrophobic with the water surrounding me though.

  45. I'm glad that your aunt and uncle have the supplies they need! :) I don't like seeing my county as the only one in purple though on that map. Living in Metro Detroit right now is scary times.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It sure is a silver lining! I'm going to check out MyNoise. It sounds great!

  47. I've been concentrating on audiobooks - but falling behind on writing the reviews. I think I have three to write now. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  48. LOL!! So you see everything works out in the end. Whahaha.. It's definitely something to laugh about. ;)

    Stay safe and happy reading.

  49. I just saw that Becky Chambers book come up on Bookbub and thought, HEY, I wanted to read that! I already bought it last fall, so I moved it up the queue. I might start it today. :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. :) It's super handy to have all of that sanitizer and Kleenex now.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I need to try the MyNoise. I've been using ambient music channels on YouTube but I like the customizable options. Too funny about your aunt and uncle. I bought a big pack of N95 masks when my allergies were really really bad and only wore one because they're so uncomfortable. I kept meaning to throw them away or give them away but my tendencies to stick stuff in a corner and forget about it save the day and now they're like gold! They're still crazy uncomfortable though. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks for sharing the story about your uncle. Are you sure his stroke didn't open up some psychic intuition? You should start paying closer attention to other things he's doing.🔮 I used to be a serious couponer and I would have had at least 200 rolls of toilet paper on hand back then. 😁

Thanks for the MyNoise mixer link! I am going to mess around with it later. 😎

I love the Karinak City image. 🎨

    Stay well, my friend. 🌞
