Tarzan at the Earth's Core. I absolutely loved all these Hollow Earth type stories as a kid.
There is a very similar scene in One Million Years BC
Now granted, the Neal Adams book cover above had not been painted yet when the movie came out, so maybe Adams was inspired in part by the movie?
Really do love these old style covers!
ReplyDeleteLove that cover! I'm a big fan of flying dinosaurs on covers!
ReplyDeleteThis cover art deserves to be in an art gallery frame!
ReplyDeleteI really like that cover and the kind of watercolor-y quality to it!
ReplyDeleteI love this painting! And it seems so similar, maybe he saw the movie!
ReplyDeleteI remember watching tons of Tarzan movies as a kid, but never read any of the books. The cover is pretty amazing! Hugs, RO
ReplyDeleteI born in 70' so back then there were a lot of Tarzan movies around up until now.
ReplyDeleteI remember those Ballantine covers! I don’t have that one, though. So very pulp-y! 🙂
ReplyDeleteThere better be a scene in that book where Tarzan gets picked up by a pterodactyl otherwise that would be extremely disappointing!
ReplyDeleteLove a good pterodactyl picture!
ReplyDeleteI am loving these covers! And I still love hollow earth stories as an adult! XD
ReplyDeleteI love pterodactyls! 👍✨
