Sunday Post #284

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga's Reviews
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Book Date

Snowpocalypse has thankfully faded into the mists of time- or last week anyway- and it's a little more sensible around here now weather- wise. My cat shows no further interest in venturing outdoors- gee I wonder why? And I've been getting book mail so life is good. We still have snow however. I read Watcher in the Woods and it was a good time to read about murder in the Yukon- with snow gently falling and the wind swirling through the branches. Good atmosphere. The bad news is- Travelers is canceled at Netflix. How can they do that? Don't they understand? There's so much more we need to know...

This past week I posted a discussion - Cloning Yea or Nay?- and loved all the responses. I also reviewed Here and Now and Then-  time travel goodness!- and got a few British Library Crime Classics. I may review some of these, and on Monday will be Book Beginnings #4.

  1. I love the ridiculousness of those pulp covers and stories. I am queued up for 'Two Can Keep A Secret' from the library, #6 on 4 copies!

  2. I'm digging the pixelated art this week, that retro look has so much personality! Also looking forward to your thoughts on Polaris Rising!

  3. I get so annoyed at the constant cancelling of these series just when I get into them so I now tend to watch things that have at least two seasons done before I engage!

  4. Ooh nice new reads! Polar Rising looks interesting! I'll have to check that one out!

Hope you enjoy all the new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  5. Hey Gorgeous Greg! I feel you on the cancellation thing, and I'm still bummed over the loss of Luke Cage and Iron Fist. Glad the book deliveries are back and that the snow is slowly going away. Here in NC is the first day we've had cool weather since our heat wave of 60's and 70's all week. Yay to Thor! Hope you're doing well and happy weekend.

    1. Hey rockin Ro! Yes Luke Cage especially but even IF was starting to hum (and I loved the cast).

  6. Oh my gosh I didn't know Traverlers was cancelled. I am so so upset. I love that show so much. Netflix is stupid. Ugh man that is so annoying. Anyways hope you have a great week!!!

  7. I'm so bummed about Travelers! Although, I liked the way it ended. At least it wasn't a cliffhanger! But I was interested to see where they would go with it next, with a whole new team or what.

  8. I am still in the last season of Travelers. Hopefully, enough people will get mad and maybe they will renew? It has happened before (fingers crossed) .

  9. Are you going to get more snow? I know the Northwest is going to get piled on again. We lucked out this year (so far) even the storm we had that ended in a travel ban wasn't all that bad compared to what we usually get. I just mad that it's dropped back to the teens again. Those three days of springlike temps were a big tease. ⛄

    Thanks for the ambient! 🎶

Have a wonderful new week! 🌞

    1. We don't have any major snow in the next few days, I don't think, other than a bit- but the long range has like 5 straight days of snow about a week out so... hopefully that doesn'y happen lol! And yes the teases are the worst- it looks deceptively nice out with the sun out today but it's still bitterly cold.

  10. I am so glad you enjoyed Watcher in the Woods! I was disappointed to hear they cancelled Travelers too. It was such a good show. I need to read your review of Here and Now and Then. Off to do that now. Have a great weekend, Greg, and an even better week.

  11. I should probably read something wintery. It would make me appreciate the snow and cold more. Right now, I kind of hate how freezing it is.

  12. I am very angry about Travelers, and the gif is on point. I have Polaris Rising too- my birthday giveaway winner told me I had to buy it, which was part of the giveaway, so I did!

Floating Bedroom is... something 😂 I love the Waypoint picture, the colors are so pretty!

Also, the snowpocalypse ended, it was so warm, and now I hear rumors about ANOTHER snowpocalypse!? Are you going to have another one too? Also. The Cult. ::Grumbles about the cult and also Crini killing me AND Val::

  13. The images are fascinating, as always. Upper Crust Home and Cyberpunk Room grabbed me.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  14. Yay for improved weather and Watcher in the Woods! I'm curious about Watching You. Blood on the Tracks reminds me of Orient on the Express. Hope it's good! :)

  15. I'm glad snowcalypse is over for now, Greg! Even if you still have snow. It's all green here again - and rather humid as it rained a lot.
I hope you'll enjoy your new books! I really, really need to pick up Kelley Armstrong and check out her series.
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.

  17. Aaargh...I hate it when Netflix cancels shows. I still can't believe they canceled over half of the Marvel shows.

  20. My sympathies over the snow, which I HATE, though glad the weather has calmed down, somewhat. We have just been dealing with wind and rain... Murder on the Sussex Downs caught my eye as that's my neck of the woods:) Have a great week, Greg:)

  21. Why doesn't he want to go outside I can't guess LOL Mybe snow diving was not his thing! Now Greg feeling all science fiction this week with your art above and your cloning yay or nay ;-) Happy Sunday! Sophie @bewareofthereader

  22. It's a bummer about Travelers, I personally haven't watched it but I have a friend that absolutely LOVES it!

    ReplyDelete
  23. We didn't really get any snow around NJ but apparently winter isn't done with us yet. I missed your cloning post. I am not sure I would be for that. I will check it out this week.
Sorry to hear about the travelers I hope they give them a proper ending. Netflix seems to be cancelling a lot lately. They just said they are ending Fuller House, cheesey as it was it was a fun show. I read something about them only wanting to do a few seasons of each show, I think it's a money thing. Anyway...

I hope you have the best week ever, Greg! Happy Reading!

  24. I'm glad your cat decided not to risk anymore lives! Haha! I'm sorry about your show. It's not one I've seen before, but it was on my to-watch list. Now I know it gets cancelled too soon, which makes me less inclined to watch it. However, I LOVE Firefly, and it was cancelled after one season. The horror! Also, I love your Iron Fist meme, heh. How did he not already know daddy would be watching his every move??

  25. Hey at least your cat has some sense not to go out in that weather. It hardly ever snows around here so I don't have to worry about that with my dog.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Awwww poor kitty. The cold weather is just so rude! The southern cats here feel that way at least. lol Hope yall have a good week with way less snow!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Glad you survived snowpacalypse! It was actually really warm here this week. So the snow we did have melted. And it rained. So everything is flooded. Its a mess.

    ReplyDelete
  28. First of all, you have a very smart cat. Snow sucks! There is some talk that a little may fall in these parts, but I keep hoping it's all lies. Book mail is awesome. What'd you get? Where's the pics? And, even more evidence why I cannot bring myself to watch too many TV series. They always leave you hanging. The least Netflix can do is put together a two hour wrap up movie. Is that too much to ask?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I cannot keep up with the weather. I officially give up!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bookish mail is the best! Since you mentioned it on my blog, I'm watching Love 020 on youtube. All episodes are there with English subs!

  31. I'm saving Watcher In The Woods to read during the next cold spell. LOL I did just finish one that was set in Antarctica and two more to enjoy. Something about the cold always draws me to books. I had very little book mail the past week. I know I have some new releases that should show up this week. Got to keep that mailbox busy! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  32. Bookish mail is always good! Our weather has been up and down. I haven't seen the Travelers but I have heard good things about it. I'm in the middle of marathoning Charmed.

  33. Sorry to hear about your show getting cancelled! I hate when you get invested in a series and don't get closure. Looks like you got some really good books, though- hope you enjoy all of them! :D

  34. I also loved Watcher in the Woods. Polaris Rising is on my TBR; it looks good. I hope you get better weather this week! Anne - Books of My Heart

  35. That sucks about Travelers getting cancelled, especially if there are still unanswered questions.

Ooh, I can't wait to hear what you think of Polaris Rising. That book sounds so good.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Bookmail is always good. Hopefully things will warm up for you soon. I'm pretty much ready for spring as soon as Christmas is over.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Life is definitely good when you know book mail is upon you; agree! I'll have to go and check your review of Here and Now and Then - I do love a time travel read.

A lovely week to you & happy reading!

  38. I loved Lucas Cage and Jessica Jones and I heard they are cancelled as well. Sigh. The Welcome to Mars base image kinda reminded me of a boring workplace I was at.

I didn't know Travellers got cancelled. That kinda sucks.

  40. Whaaaat?? I just discovered Travelers. They can't cancel it! Sob. Looks like you have some fun reading ahead. And hope you dodge the snow that's coming this week.

  41. Oh no, my husband is going to be upset by that news about Travelers as well!

So far I am loving Watcher in the Woods. It really starts off with a bang doesn't it! I am only on page 78 and I already don't want to put it down! Lol. Those British Crime Library books look awesome!!

The weather thank goodness is back to normal Michigan winter, so it seems. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was SO invested in the Travelers. Had I known they were going to be cancelled I wouldn't have bothered to binge it in the first place. That's a good two weeks of my life I'll never get back. The worst thing of all was how unsatisfying the so-called ending ended up being. I'll be on the look out for your review on Polaris Rising! I've heard great things about it! Awesome images as always :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I enjoyed Watcher in the Woods too. I would prefer that my climate not mirror the book's though. We had lots of snow last week and more is predicted for this week. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Certainly is atmospheric reading! Hmm a new Lisa Jewell. I have quite a few of her back list I still need to read sitting on my shelves.

    ReplyDelete
  45. hahaha Snowpocalypse! Love that term! I love apocalyptic terms! :) book mail should be in those survival lists preppers make :) The world can end as long as there is still book mail xD

  50. I imagine plunging into the snow drift would tamp down any desire to revisit the wonders of outside! Glad the snow seems to have settled down. Not a fan of it even in the small doses we get here! Sorry to hear about Travelers! I hate when a show that's obviously good doesn't make the cut. I want to go yell at people when that happens! Have a great week!

  51. Some of these pictures are just amazing. I love the Tatoonie one. I am sorry they canceled your show. Have a wonderful week.

  52. I am sure there are great things about living up north but I don't think I could handle your winters!!!! It gets below 30 here and I am ready for spring...lol. It sprinkles a little snow and I am ready for spring... :) Sorry to hear they cancelled your show, hate when that happens especially if they don't clear things up. :(

  53. Your cat has been scared off of going outdoors for life lol. I love when the weather suits your current read! Sorry about your show being canceled though :-/
