A much warmer week, we actually got into the 70's once or twice! Summer is here- kinda. So this week was pretty good- The 100 is back and the premiere was pretty awesome. It's been a long time since S4. I've been watching a lot of Netflix- Orbiter 9 was good and so was The Chalet. I made it through a couple of books this week too.

This week Movies That Suck looked at Mean Girls, a movie that definitely did not suck, I think we can mostly agree. This week will be Desperately Seeking Susan and that was a fun watch. Because 80's Madonna. And Kong: Skull Island is upcoming as well.

Last week I reviewed The Oracle Queen (and can I just say I need the next book in that series?) along with the aforementioned mini- reviews and also posted a New Years tag (yes in April- who says I'm behind??). Thanks to Anna at Adventures With a Book Nerd for that. I have a few other tag posts so hopefully I can get caught up.

  13. The 100's return is of course the most important part of the week hah. But nice weather is a plus, too! I really need to read The Oracle Queen- I didn't read your review because I want to read the book myself first. So glad it was good though!

Watched the trailer for The Meg, can't decide if it's funny, cheesy, or both, but I am moderately annoyed that Travis from Fear is in it because I was still placing bets on him being alive, and this movie is not his triumphant return to Fear, so.

Oh and that picture with the hanging was creepy. It was like... The Hanging Tree from Mockingjay come to life. But I totally want to go hang out in the tree with hidey holes! (Er, no hanging pun intended, yikes.)

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yes it is and I need to know your thoughts on The Oracle Queen!

The Meg looks awesome, clearly, and I think a mix of silly and good? But yes Travis!!

Wasn't it? ooh Hanging tree. And yes, I do too.

  18. I want to watch both Orbiter 9 and The Chalet, but this week I did not have time for too much TV. And I am glad you enjoyed Mean Girls, it's one of my gem films that I rewatch every year.

Oh, I never heard of that book by Agatha Christie from the pulp cover of the week! I need to get back on reading all of Christie's books.

I love all the landscapes - they make me wanna read some sci-fi books.

    (PS: I love Runaways!)

    The Oracle Queen sounds great!

  21. Desperately Seeking Susan awakens so many memories!
I love that Tatooine painting. I have always been wondering how much hotter a planet with twin suns would be and if mankind would be viable. Probably not. And how far the suns have to be apart to not collide because of gravitation...questions. My scientist mind wants to know.

    Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I love that movie!!!

Ha those are good questions. And I imagine Tatooine would be pretty dang hot. I kind of agree a dual sun planet would probably not be viable under a lot of conditions. Oh and I always love images of Jabba's palace so when I saw that I had double the reason to feature the art!

  23. Yay for warmer weather! I can see why that picture inspired a writing prompt, it's got so much feeling to it and is so ominous looking! I really like the one above it too though because it appears to be an elf and he's got all this pretty jewelry but he's also got blood on his lips, and I'm curious about that. And I LOVE the one with the wolves and the person in the foreground, maybe cuz I'm totally in a werewolf mood. I just went and searched for the artist's site, and wow, he has a lot of amazing art!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Right? And I agree. Some of them are just so atmospheric I have to write something. :) And I've noticed I tend towards those darker, more moody pics? Now it's interesting becasue see I thought the elf was a female! But looking closer it could be either? And I noticed the lips too! Elf vampire?

Were wolves are the best, and didn't you use to not like them as much? Or maybe that was wolf shifters, which for the longest time I didn't realize could be two different things? Or just never thought of it I guess. I totally want to read werewolf stories. But yes that pic- like the woman has a kinship or they sense a kinship with her- I love the story possibilities there. And the one below it I think is SO chilling!

  44. I smiled when you mentioned Desperately Seeking Susan. I grew up on Madonna and have her first LP. My daughter's fourth grade teacher in the city used to play a song twice each morning to give students time to unload, get the stuff they needed out, and to settle down. I would stuff Wednesday folders and bop my head to Holiday when it was its turn. The Shark Club sounds good. I like marine biology and like a protagonist with a nontraditional occupation. Have a good week.

OMG yes, The 100's premiere was so good. I have a good feeling about how this whole season is going to be. I'm especially interested in seeing how things are going in the bunker. The bit of teaser we got right at the end of the first ep was so intense!
