Top Ten Books I've Decided I'm No Longer Interested in Reading

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by
That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week is Top Ten Books I've Decided I'm No Longer Interested in reading. Sadly there are a fair number of such books.

The Wood
I dunno, maybe?

Barbary Station (Shieldrunner Pirates, #1)

DNF.

Crooked Kingdom (Six of Crows, #2)

I have completely lost interest.

Allegiant (Divergent, #3)

Maybe in Paris

IDK- I hear different things.

Four Wives

I decided to read this after doing a Bookcover Spotlight on it a ways back, and it started out okay... but I got sidetracked.

Runaways, Vol. 7: Live Fast

The jury is still out on this. I liked the first few well enough...

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)

YA science fiction- thought I'd enjoy this.

The Safest Lies

  1. Oh noooo! Why is Crooked Kingdom on the list?

I finished the Divergent series and you aren't missing out on much. Ha ha. The first two were the best and the third had, what I thought, was a pretty terrible ending.

I should probably take a squiz through my TBR and see what I can cull too!!!

    1. I seem to be in a definite minority with Crooked Kingdom but I just couldn't get there. I was over 100 pages in and was... bored? :);)

I've heard that about Allegiant, I started it and stalled out. I've heard that ending is pretty bad!

  2. Am very curious about Four Wives... but not if you were sidetracked from it! That's a telling sign about it, IMO.

    1. Actually it was more that there was stuff I wanted to read more. although yeah maybe that's the same thing! It was okay but every chapter was a different wife and I could have continued but... IDK.

  3. I haven't read any but I'm curious about some

  4. I DNFed Across the Universe and Six of Crows. Divergent as a book was ok but it just went too slow in the middle. I've heard bad things about the film but I picked it up cheap anyway and I'll give it a go.

    1. I like Divergent the movie (and Insurgent wasn't bad) but I DNF'd Allegiant the book. Same w/ across the Universe and Crooked Kingdom. Neither one worked for me.

  5. I've just come to accept I am one of the very very few who actually enjoyed Allegiant. Sigh... though I am sad to see Crooked Kingdom here! I enjoyed that series. The rest are pretty much new to me reads!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Well I think it's cool that someone LIKED Allegiant, because I was enjoying the series and part of me still wants to finish that book! And crooked Kingdom surprised me too...

  6. I kept shifting Maybe in Paris on my TBR, because of the negative reviews. It is probably dead in the water for me too. I did like Crooked Kingdom though. I had to finish the duology, because I loved SoC so much.

    1. Same here w/ Maybe in PAris. I thought at first it was going to be a contemp I would like, but yeah after some reviews... I'm probably not gonna read it. I was surprised to not like Crooked Kingdom.

  7. I read the beginning of Runaways and liked it. I still haven't caught up with that series yet, though. Do you think you'll ever watch the TV show based on it?

Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

    1. Runaways was good but I'm not missing it? If makes sense?? And I did watch the Runaways show, I liked it for the most part although it's pretty different from the comics. Did you watch it?

    2. Yes, I've seen the first few episodes, and I like it so far. (I'm behind on TV shows).

  8. Sadly, it seems like we all have a few of these hanging around that didn't make the cut. Off to new things, right? Hugs...RO

  9. I didn't like Six of Crows enough to pick up Crooked Kingdom. The rest of your list I do not know. Oh wait, there's Allegiant haha, I gave up after Divergent. That world made no sense to me.

    1. Ha ha! I just couldn't with Allegiant. And same here w/ Six of Crows- in fact I DNF'd that and never got to crooked Kingdom, guess I mixed em up!

  10. Sad to hear you didn't like six of crows enough to finish the duology. But that happens. We can't all like the same books. :D I lost interest in Across the Universe a few years ago as well. I've heard some mixed things about the way it was written and decided it was not going to be for me haha.

    1. Yeah Across the Universe just didn't work for me, I still think about maybe going back to it- I WANTED to like it- but I just don't know...

  11. I haven't read Crooked Kingdom either. I was just meh with Six of Crows. I think I am just tired of sequels and waiting for them that by the time they come out, I am not interested.

    1. I didn't get very far into Six of crows- a hundred pages or so maybe?- but I was bored. Like way bored. But I get that way too- I might really be excited for a sequel but by the time it gets here I'm like, next!

      Delete
  12. Allegiant and Insurgent didn't make my list but they probably could have. They are just so far removed from my mind that I didn't even think of them. The Woods? Really. Any particular reason why. I own that on my Kindle and still want to read it. Have you heard bad things?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I've actually heard good things about The Wood, it just didn't grab me? Of all the books on this list that's the one I'm mostly like to try again, when the mood strikes. I want to like it!

  13. I never read the Divergent series - or saw the movies. Just never really had an interest to!

    1. I lijed the first movie, and mostly liked the second one- and the books too- but Allegiant, just no. The movie was bad and I didn't get far with the book, sadly.

  14. I actually want to read Barbary Station, although I have read some mixed reviews. And I wanted to read The Wood as well but I didn't find enough blogger reviews to give me a sense of whether it was good or not.

    1. I think Barbary station is a me thing, I'm sure it's good but I just couldn't. Just too slow to get moving I guess. Some books just work and I was bored with that one...

  16. I did wanted to read 'six of crow' and since 'crooked kindgdom' is the second book, I would want to read it as well but now I don't know. it's kind of odd that you can lose interest in a book simply because they are not in your sight.

    have a lovely day.

  18. So sorry you're not interested in Crooked Kingdom anymore. :( I loved Six of Crows but haven't gotten around to reading this one either (but I will, hopefully this year). I completely agree about Allegiant, though--good riddance to that mess of a finale.

    1. I know, I was kinda sad because I heard SO many good things about those. Maybe as a heist book it takes a while to get going and I just didn't stick around long enough... And ha ha yes!

  19. I almost put Safest Lies on my list. And I expect that Allegiant will be on a lot of lists this week!!!

  20. It’s so hard cutting books. I hope you wouldn’t have loved any of these. The only one I’ve read is Across the Universe and you’re not missing anything.

    1. It is! That's good to know about across the Universe because I've often wondered if I should have stuck with it longer!

  21. I thought I was the only person who didn't love the Six of Crows series! I didn't love book one and forced myself through book two, which I didn't love either. :/ Great list!

  23. As someone who read Allegiant... my opinion is that losing interest in that one is probably the best way to go, haha. I've also lost any interest that I had in Across the Universe as well. I very much enjoyed Crooked Kingdom, though!

    1. Ha ha I've heard that too! Across the Universe- same here. Loved the premise, looked good, but I got bored and then sidetracked and didn't go back to it.

  24. Great list! Sorry to see Crooked Kingdom on your list, I'm planning to read Six of Crows this year so hopefully I'll like it a bit more. I read Across the Universe a few years ago and while I liked it I didn't feel compelled to continue with the series.

    1. Thanks Jess. I know, I wanted to like that duology so much! And I've heard that about across the Universe ...

  25. You're not missing out on anything with Allegiant! :) I've been doubting about Across The Universe. Sorry to see Crooked Kingdom on your list, but then there really is just not enough time to read books we're not that interested in...

  26. I was disappointed in the Divergent series after the first book, it never recaptured that magic. It took me awhile to get into Crooked Kingdom, but I am glad I stuck with it, because I loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I got hugely spoiled for Allegiant so now I'm not sure if I want to finish the series because I never got past Divergent because it was so meh. Hopefully I'll get around to Six of Crows, even though you've listed Crooked Kingdom.

  28. Allegiant, ugh, read it, blergh

I ended up dnfing Bardugo :/

    ReplyDelete
  29. I did like The Runaways and think I've read all of those. That was when I decided I should try graphic novels. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. Such a bummer when you decide...eh. But other books to take their place so all is good in the end :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. Surprised to see Allegiant here ...although it's definitely not worth finishing :D The Runaways as tv series seemed a bit weird. Like yeah it was good but not good enough.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think the Book cover Spotlight could be dangerous! I desperately need to prune my Goodreads account. I'm sure there are a ton of books that I don't want to read anymore!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can assure you, skipping Across the Universe is one of the best decisions you can make for yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I actually really enjoyed Across the Universe. I thought it was interesting. I want to reread it so I can continue to read the series. Why aren't interested in reading it anymore?

  35. I have decided that if I am moderately uninterested in it, that is a good enough reason to not read it. Think about all the books you REALLY want to read, you know? Why waste time on mediocrities? I have heard so many bad things about Maybe in Paris, so sad. And Allegiant, well, you know how I feel about that hahha. I was hoping Across the Universe would be better, sad that it isn't. Did you try Safest Lies? I hoped that would be good, ugh. And GOOD for Barbary Station- it sounded bad when you were reading it, it needs to go. And same with The Wood and Crooked Kingdom- if you didn't care enough, get rid of 'em!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I definitely agree with kicking Allegiant to the curb. I enjoyed the first book in that series but each one after that got worse and worse. Bummer that you didn't enjoy the Six of Crows series though.

    ReplyDelete
  37. After watching the Divergent movies with my daughter, I lost interest in reading the books. I have Six of Crows and I'm holding onto that, hopefully I'll find time to read both books. Great list.

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Wood and Barbary Station are also books that have fallen off my radar. I still have hopes that maybe one day I'll get to them, but it gets more unlikely by the day.

  39. You aren't really missing anything if you skip Allegiant. As for Across the Universe, I personally really enjoyed that series. It's entertaining. I have yet to read Six of Crows, but I really liked the Grisha trilogy and the world built there so I have hopes that I will also like that duology.

  40. I haven’t read any of these. But yes, I wanted to read Six of Crows series at some point. I am not sure though when that time will come :P I have the physical copy now too so I guess it's time to read it?

  41. OMG Crooked Kingdom....I loved this. Sorry it wasn't for you but I hope you find lots of new loves to enjoy!!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. You are all making me worried about Six of Crows. Did you read theShadow and Bone books?

    ReplyDelete
  43. Yeah, I also had the Veronica Roth books on my list. I just never felt the urge to read further than No.1. Crooked Kingdom - I have a copy but haven't given it a try yet so we'll see how that works out.

  44. Sometimes I end up with books because I really like the authors- Beth Revis is one of those. I read the first 2 Across the Universe books, but the 3rd has lingered on my shelf for years now. Sometimes it's not a matter of how good the book is, sometimes the time to read it has just passed. ;)

  45. I have the beautiful boxed set for SoC/CK because I loved SoC's so much but I just can not get through CK. *cries*

I feel like I need to read it because I paid that money for it but the other side of me doesn't want to ruin my love of the first book by hating this one. Reader problems lol

  46. I decided not to do this top ten list because (as an author) I try not to talk about books I don't want to read on my blog. BUT I can certainly talk about it on your blog!! Lol. You're better off not getting involved with the Divergent series. The first book was amazing and it all went downhill after that. But you should try Across the Universe. I enjoyed that whole series. It was well-written start to finish.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yup I don;t think I'll be reading Crooked Kingdom either!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I never got into the Divergent series (and I didn't really like the films). But I loved Beth Revis's Across the Universe books.
Think I'd feel guilty if I crossed some books off my TBR list!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I don’t know if I’ll read Crooked Kingdom either. I loved Six of Crows, but when I think about reading Crooked Kingdom, I’m not that interested. Maybe I’ll give it a go eventually, idk honestly.

  50. I won't finish the Divergent series which makes me sad. I got in on the series very early but heard a spoiler about Alligent as soon as it was published and lost interest immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I think I may have lost interest in Leigh Bardugo. I read her book of fairy tales and really didn't like her writing style...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I feel so terrible that I haven't read Six of Crows. I really meant to read it. Maybe I will someday! Love this topic - I'm a big advocate of focusing on books you are really excited about!

  53. So I was super excited about The Wood. And then review after review just showed that it was meh and a lot of people complained about the ending....I still have it on my TBR too but I've been contemplating removing it too.
