Sunday Post #217

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

I had a good week of reading. The slump is most definitely over, and I think a lot of it has to do with all the releases coming out that I want. Nothing like a little anticipation! And The Shark Club, frankly, was so good. This weekend I'll be volunteering at the high school marching band invitational- one of the biggest ones in the state- should be fun. I did it last year and it was a blast.

Riverdale is back in full swing and I'll be recapping the episodes again this season. I've been working on some Top Ten posts and one thing that really stood out for me was the number of new authors I've read this year. Especially since so many of them are new favorites, or at the very least an author I will watch out for.

I review The Blackbird Season this week. On the Run 17 will be up Monday.

  1. You always find such interesting, inspiring pics.
I thought the Ambient noise from Forbidden Planet might have been good to write to but after half an hour I've decided I couldn't stand 12 hours of it lol.

  2. Looks like we're both out of the slump! I'm powering through the second part of A Storm of Swords and it is great! Best so far. I hope this kickstarts me for the rest of the year!

  3. Thank goodness the slump is over. I'm slowly coming out of mine... but it really is slow. Ugh. That's a great trailer for Electric Dreams. Love that Airborn graphic!

  4. oh man I love the artworks, especially Airborn . Sorry you were in a slump :( I'd cry if I fell into one in October.
Your new reads upcoming reviews look interested, cannot wait to see what you think

  7. I like Airborn and The Old Forest. Not really a reading slump here just been really sick with sinus infection and unable to focus enough to read. Hope the band invitational is fun :)

  8. Greg! I didn't know you were doing Riverdale recaps also! I started doing them this season with my friend. Will definitely check out yours. :) Also, amazing art as always, and I love your writing for the freelancer one.

  9. You know I always love the futuristic art pieces you choose to feature each week! This week some of the more prehistoric ones look really good too, especially that one with the dinosaurs. And Old Forest is gorgeous too.

  10. Aw YAY I am glad your slump is over! I looked for The Shark Club at the bookstore with Val, and I couldn't remember the author, or the actual title, and I just kept saying "it has the sharks on the cover!" to her and yeah needless to say, I didn't find it but it's now on my Amazon list :D

The band invitational thing sounds fun, I hope it's a good time! I figure the 12 hour long music is maybe for people who want to sleep to it? But... I guess also they could just loop that shit, so who actually knows, now I am curious too! Love the writing prompt, but I am concerned for Hoodie Girl. In my mind, she somehow kills everyone and she is FINE, and was taken in by a nice elderly couple who always wished they had a daughter. Love the Airborn one- the 360 view was fun and unexpected- and the Cliff Town one too!

  14. So glad you're out of your slump! YAY!

I keep meaning to start Riverdale. It's all I've been seeing and hearing about for months, and it looks so good.

Happy reading! And I hope the volunteering goes well :) That sounds so cool.

  15. It's an interesting direction Riverdale is taking. I am worried with the way they keep killing people in every episode, and I hope they don't kill anyone I am too attached to.

My reading is all over the place right now - mid-grade, horror, graphic novels, YA. It's keeping me on my toes! lol

  19. Yay for getting out of the slump! Those are so annoying and it's such a relief when reading just flows again. The band competition sounds really fun. My older kids were in marching band in high school and I loved the competitions! Have a great week!

  25. I'm glad to see that you're out of your reading slump Greg, they really are the worst, hopefully you'll fly through some excellent reads now. And I always love taking part in Top Ten Tuesday posts, you've reminded me to take note of their upcoming topics! I hope you have a great week!

  26. I am super excited about Electric Dreams! I really hope it comes together well. I have yet to jump on the Riverdale band wagon, but my daughter insists I must haha. I am glad the slump is officially over! Happy reading Greg :)

  27. I am glad your reading slump is coming to an end. There are a number of new books coming out that I want to read as well. I hope you enjoyed the high school marching band invitational! When my husband and I first moved into the town we live in now, we lived in an apartment right next to a high school, and we used to love hearing the bands perform during competitions--or even just practicing.

Electric Dreams does look good! I may have to see about seeing that one. My daughter discovered Punky Brewster the other day and we've been watching a lot of that. Someone had told her she reminded him of Punky, and so she wanted to know who that was . . .Now she's hooked. :-)

I hope you have a great week, Greg! It's supposed to reach 103 Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm wondering where fall went?

  28. And every week I'm back for the art, hahaha. Thank you for sharing and glad your reading slump is coming to an end.

  29. I actually remember Charlie Chan on tv! Hanging out with the kids for the marching band invitational sounds fun, and hope you had a great time! Happy Monday! RO

  30. I look forward to your Riverdale recaps every week. My husband doesn't care much for the series so I end up watching it alone. However, since I binge watched the first year, I'm finding it pretty tedious to watch weekly now. Too bad I can't just wait and binge watch them but I'm not that patient. Electric Dream does look like it would be worth watching!

  31. Gawk. Now I HAVE to add Electric Dreams to my viewing list. I hadn't heard of it before. I love the actors and the trailer looks really good.

Cliff Town is my favorite art this week.

Yay for breaking slumps. I had two slow weeke, but I'm hoping to pick up again this week.

  32. Glad to hear the slump is over! Hope mine will be over soon as well :)
Love watching all the gorgeous art you find!

  33. Greg! Light years behind. I'm sorry! I'm reading On the Run RIGHT NOW though. Seriously - I've already opened the tabs up.

Glad you're not in a reading slump anymore. I feel like we all go through them seasonally. It happens.

The APB writing prompt scene was awesome! I hope she somehow got out of it!

  34. Glad to hear your slump is over! Nothing like new releases to get one motivated right :) Hope you enjoyed volunteering at high school marching band invitational! Sounds like fun!

  36. I have no idea why I didn't get here last week! Ugh. I will be looking forward to what you think of What Alice Knew. Forbidden Planet is one of my favorite movies. I have
always wanted to do up a room like a room on a spaceship, so I could hang out in there with spaceship ambient sound and an outerspace view looped on a flat screen. It would make a great game and reading room! I know you didn't have a very good week after this post, so here's to a better week this next one. Feel better. ☺
