Sunday Post #92
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
This has been a good reading week- 2 weeks in a row! I started a new cozy and liked it a lot- my thoughts will be up on Tuesday. This was a good book , with great characters and an engaging setting.
Next week I'll have my thoughts on Murder in the Mystery Suite as well as a classic Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure tale. I als hope to have my thoughts on Tomorrowland, if I get to see it over the holiday weekend.
It's a beautiful day as I write this on Saturday morning- sunny skies and 70's. Time to break out the flip flops and maybe a trip to the beach. Looking forward to a relaxing holiday weekend...

You have a nice mix of books! The cozies look very tempting, especially the one that is a bookshop mystery. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThe bookshop mysteries are great, and I'm quite fond of the one I just read too- I don't read a lot of cozie, but those two are winners. :)
DeleteI own the Murder in the Mystery Suite but haven't read it yet. It looks like such fun! The Kate Parker and the Tasha Alexander series are also on my TBR. You got some fantastic books this week! Enjoy and have a fantastic week!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Murder in the Mystery Suite, not all cozies are for me but I'll be along for the ride on this series! It was fun, and there's a little bit of a deeper mystery as well underneath the main premise. And the sequel is out in August, so not too long to wait. :)
DeleteThe Kate P books are good, like them a lot.
Yay for good reading weeks! I agree, the cozies look good. Lots of good-looking books there, have fun!
ReplyDeleteYou too Bea, hope you have a nice relaxing weekend. And happy reading! :)
DeleteNeed and Deadfall look good! Though I like the cover of A School for Unusual Girls!
ReplyDeleteCozy Mysteries are good in small doses for me. An occasional one! I like the look of The Adventuress. Enjoy the long weekend. Beach sounds great. You must be near it.
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling jealous of your trip to the beach! It's not too bad here (mid 50s) but still not quite as warm as I'd like it considering it's supposed to be summer! I love the cover of the book you are reading, there is a lot going on with it but it doesn't look cluttered which is hard to pull off.
ReplyDeleteWe are heading down the shore in NJ today to have a BBQ with the family. I hope you have a fun day at the beach, it is suppose to be hot here today.
ReplyDeleteI might have to try a Cozy Mystery as I have never read one, it could be part of my scavenger hunt picks for COYER, out of my comfort zone read :)
I hope you have a fantastic week, Greg! Happy Reading!
Ohhh! Need and Deadfall look so good! Enjoy your new reads. Have a great week, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThey do, don't they? You too- hope you have a great holiday weekend!
DeleteThe Ellery Adams series looks so good. I have it waiting for me to read.
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday weekend and a great week!
You too, enjoy the holiday. I was happy to discover that book, and I see that she has others as well. I may have to try them...
DeleteOh my goodness. That appeared to have happened in Shandong Province of the People's Republic. They talk about her boyfriend and I wonder how young she was. I wonder how a birth out of wedlock goes over in the PRC?
ReplyDeleteHere, of course a teen having a baby is anywhere from normal to tragic but I don't know what societal norms are active there.
I'm not sure, that's a good question. I probably shouldn't laugh at that story, but it just cracked me up for some reason. Gives birth, goes back to game- good grief! :)
DeleteYou got some great looking books this week, Greg! And Murder in the Mystery Suite looks good, too. I don't need more books, but you're tempting me! I hope you have a great holiday weekend and make it to the beach. The weather has been great here, too.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear your take on A School for Unusual Girls. I requested but didn't get it - and my library isn't getting it either. So I'm not sure yet whether to buy it. I'm also excited for the new Lady Emily mystery (though I still have 7 older ones to get through), and both those cozy book-related series look good, too!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward haven't actually started it yet, but I think I'll like it- I've seen several good reviews. And I like the Emily mysteries for the most part- -I've skipped a few of them
DeleteNice haul, Greg! A School for Unusual Girls looks really good. I hope you'll enjoy your new books.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week ahead, happy reading.

I think so too, hope it lives up to the hype. Hope you're having a great weekend.
DeleteHi Greg,
ReplyDeleteI adore the avengers, and basically just everything Marvel, lol. *Cough* anyway, onto books... you've got a few interesting one's here! Tarzan and the Jewels of Opar sounds good. But that cover for A School for Unusual Girls also books good :) I mainly like the name and the cover, looks different :) Different is good. Great post!
Have a great week, enjoy the sunny weather!
Amy x
I'm a big Avengers fan too. I still sometimes have a hard tim ebelieving they make these movies. :) Glad they do! I liked the cover too, and I've seen several good reviews so I have high hopes for that one. I like historical mysteries, and this one, while not a mystery, does have a certain mysterious tone to it, seems like.
DeleteYou have a great week also, and happy reading!
Good to hear you have been lucky with your reading! I had one DNF but recovered with a couple of good books. A School for Unusual Girls looks interesting so I hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Avengers movie and I hope we can watch Tomorrowland soon. Have a great week and enjoy all your new books!
DNF's are no fun, but glad you recovered! I think Unuusal Girls will be good- hope so. I'm keen to see Tomorrowland too, maybe this weekend.
DeleteWe were pretty cold here until today. We had frost Thursday night, but I refused to turn the heat on, so I baked cornbread, biscuits, and cookies for Monday's holiday and it took the chill off the apartment. I have been interested in A School for Unusual Girls since I first saw the ARC showing up, but I haven't seen any reviews yet. I will be looking forward to your thoughts on the book. Have a wonderful week. :)
ReplyDeleteWe had frost Thursday night, but it's shaping up to be a beautiful holiday weekend. Hope you managed a trip to the beach... enjoy the extra day off!
ReplyDeleteI was really tempted to pick up A School for Unusual Girls from the library, but I am trying to get through a large portion of the unread books I already own this summer, so I held off. How are you liking it? I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by the The Local Muse
I'm just starting it, but so far so good. I've been reading some Victorian era mysteries so this is a different but I think it's going to be good. I like them somewhat realistic but with a mysteriousness also. :)
DeleteGreg, I'm glad you liked The Mystery Suite book! I want to read the one your currently reading as The School for Unusual Girls looks so good. Can't wait to see you thoughts on it. :) I went and seen the Avengers movie it was good. :)
ReplyDeleteI did, at first I wasn't sure, it started a littl slow for me, but once I got 40 pages in or so it took off. I'm a fan of those now! Avengers was fun, wasn't it?
DeleteHope you get to the beach in between raindrops. Looking forward to Deadfall.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are enjoying A School for Unusual Girls. I liked that one a lot. I'll have to check out the Mystery Suite series too. I'm looking for new mystery paperback series to add to our library's collection.
ReplyDeleteDeath Wears a Mask, the new Amory Ames mystery, is available to request through Netgalley if you read electronic ARCs...
ReplyDeleteA School for Unusual Girls looks cool and I want to read Need, looking forward to your thoughts on both and I can't wait to see what you think of Tomorrowland Greg. Have a great week and enjoy your reads!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to Need too
DeleteHope your week is a good one! :)
A School for Unusual Girls sounds really good!! Also those cozy mysteries are really catching my eye as well. I am a big fan of the cozy. Have a great Memorial Day - hope you all get some beach time in!
