Sunday Post #80 The Sun Is Out

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey

This was a good week, I didn't do a lot of reading but I did get a few reviews up. Going into February my reading is wide open- I have a few in mind but nothing set in stone yet. Vintage Science Fiction Month is wrapping up and has been a lot of fun You can check out the reviews at #VintageSciFi.

This morning the sun is out and it looks like  nice day. We've actually had a few days now with sunshine, it hasn't been a bad week. I hope everyone out east who got blasted is staying warm and comfortable.

INTERNET FUN:

Angela's Anxious Life spotlights Find Momo. You have to check this out- how fun.

If you're curious about Mr. Penumbra's you can check out a prequel of sorts here... for $2.99. It's Mr. Penumbra 1969... set during the summer of love. Groovy baby.

Little Red Reviewer has a roundup of the Vintage Science Fiction Month reviews here. Handy dandy.

Snap Happy Gal has some nice shots

No Winds of Winter this year- are you surprised? The publisher has said it won't be this year- so this seals the deal that we will get the end of this story on TV. The good news, however, is that we will get a new edition of the hedge Knight stories later this year.

  1. Hey, thanks for the mention! :)
I had no idea Agent Carter was a thing! Must watch :) I love Agents of SHIELD and I hope this is something along the same lines but with even more ass-kicking women. And great clothes!

  2. I do want to watch Agent Carter and the Agents of the Shield is on my Netflix list. So many shows to get too! I really enjoyed your Hardy Boys review this week and am looking forward to more. I only read a couple of them despite reading every Nancy Drew I could get my hands on until they basically fell apart. You've inspired me to pick a few up for fun. Have a great week!

I'm going to have fun with the Hardy boy revisits... they are like comfort reads. quick and easy and I'm enjoying them.

  4. Ooo I loved the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew books as a child. It is cool you are re-reading some. We are in the middle of a snow storm and have about 8 inches thus far..it is that really wet, heavy snow. Hope your week is enjoyable and you read something really awesome

    1. I think it'll be a fun project, to see how they stack up all these tears later. I'm going into it with my expectations not too high, but at the same time the ones I've read so far have been comfortable.

  8. We didn't get the Storm of the Century that was predicted here, but my friend in Massachusetts got hammered with about three feet, and is expecting more. I have been curiuos about the Mr. Penumbra book, so maybe I will checkout the prequel. Have a wonderful week. I am heading off to read your last week's Sunday Post right now because I missed it last week. :D

    1. I was also going to ask you, have you read the Invasion of the Tripods books (I think thst is the first title)? Your talk of vintage Science Fiction had me thinking about how much I enjoyed those novels.

    2. WE didn't get much snow, so I was overconfident, and now overnight we got some and the roads. I have not read those books, although I think I've heard of them.

  9. Death of a Dishonorable Gentleman sounds intriguing, Greg! I hope you'll enjoy it. I devoured both The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew when I was younger, I loved the mystery, the friendships and how clever the characters were. I wonder what I would think of them now, too :)
Have a fantastic Sunday and a great week.

  12. I have to say when I was younger I never read a Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew book but I hope you enjoy them when you revisit. I plan to do something for October with old books I use to read and really looking forward to jumping into them again. REading stuff where younger is so much fun!

Enjoy the sun, we are suppose to get snow but at this point I'm not sure I trust the weather people :)

  13. Glad your weather has eased up a bit. It seems as though it's my turn for a winter smackdown. Oh well, I keep reminding myself it won't last forever.

I love the look of Death of a Dishonorable Gentleman. I must find out more. The cover is very DA'ish. Also love your Hardy Boys project. I've often thought of revisiting all those Nancy Drew novels I read back in the day.

  15. Oh, I loved the Hardy Boys books...and for a while, back in the remote days of my life, they were on TV, on the Mickey Mouse Club...LOL. Imagine how ancient I must be!

We've had some sun, too, and it feels almost spring-like here.

I've been noticing the previews of Agent Carter...might have to check this out.

Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.

  16. We woke up buried in snow here in eastern Iowa this morning, Greg. It's made for a nice, lazy Sunday of sorts.

Loved your review of Mr. Penumbra. I just started listening to the book this week on my drives to work.

  18. I like those months were nothing is set in stone yet and you can basically read whatever you feel like. Although I've found lately that my reading challenges still give me some direction on what to read, in a good way.
Your Hardy Boys project sounds like a fun feature!

  22. I need to have a week a bit like yours - where I focus on getting reviews up. I took a couple of nights off reading last week as I was getting too far ahead! And I really need to write the reviews asap as books all seem to get muddled in my mind the longer I leave them!!!

  25. I used to have almost all the Nancy Drews, and my brothers had some of the Hardy Boys so I remember picking a couple up when I was between books, but I can't remember anything about them! I hope you have fun with this project--what fun!

  26. I use to read the Nancy Drew books, and my brother had the Hardy Boys...which I tried reading but never really got into. I love Find Momo, I reviewed it last year for Quirk and still have it. The photography is gorgeous and I follow them on instagram.

  32. I read a lot of the Hardy Boys as a child; I liked them almost as much as Nancy Drew (not quite as well because, well, girls were either nonexistent or wimpy in the HB mysteries.) How do you find they hold up now that you're an adult?

As for Agent Carter, I would love to watch that show! I see you can stream them on ABC.com - I hope that means free. I'll have to try it. We don't have cable or decent reception, so we can't watch them on TV.
