Sunday Post #79
The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
January is humming right along. It's been a quiet week, not much going on. I'm looking out as I write this Saturday morning, and it looks like another day just like we've had all week- not much sun. We're supposed to get snow tomorrow, just a bit. I'm still looking for just the right book to read. Maybe this week the right one will come along.
This week I reviewed Star Man's Son and another Leigh Brackett for Vintage Science Fiction Month. This not-a-challenge will be wrapping up at the end of the month, but there have been a lot of good reviews and posts.

We got about 5 inches of snow folloeed by freezing rain and more snow. Hello winter! Hopefully your weather is mild but it does make for good reading weather,
ReplyDeleteYikes, that's noy good. I agree, it is good to sit indoors and enjoy a good book. :)
DeleteWe got snow this weekend, too, Greg, but it's already melting, and I can finally see the sun today! I've missed the sun a lot :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll find the perfect book this week! It's difficult when you feel like you can't get into a story for some reason.
Have a great Sunday and a fantastic week.

The sun came out today- nice to see! Hope your week is a great one too.
DeleteWe haven't watched the last season of GOT yet, so I'll be avoiding the video :) We've had snow for a few hours yesterday, but nothing lasted. No snowmen à la Calvin & Hobbes, unfortunately. Or fortunately, for the neighbors :) Have a great week !
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to get snow, but it didn't happen. Which is fine with me- I think I'm over it now. :) The sun did come out, so that was nice.
DeleteI really should do some Hobbit reading and watching...my youngest grandson wants to go to the latest movie.
ReplyDeleteI am curious about Mr. Penumbra's 24 Hour Bookstore.
Enjoy your week, and here are MY WEEKLY UPDATES
Hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteI'm in hibernation mode because of the weather-it's all about reading and watching from the comfort of my couch. Have a good week, Greg.

Hibernating sound pretty good right about now- hope your week is a good one!
DeleteI'm looking forward to both your reviews this week! Mr. Penumbra has been on my TBR for ages so I want to see what you think. We thankfully have had a sunny weekend but it's been a solid week of cold and rain. Probably not as cold as you're used to but I don't approve of these temps! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's been sunny today, but cold all week.
DeleteWe really haven't had much snow, and nothing to delay anything. It has been warmer this past week which suits me fine. We've been catching up on DVR's shows before the new season begins. Hope you get some sunshine :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been cold this week, but the sun did peek out so today was good. Hope your week is a good one.
DeleteI actually just found Mr. Penumbra was available in audiobook format and I think I'm going to download it today. Have a great week, Greg.

It's a good book, I think you'll like it.
DeleteIt's been foggy and chilly here in California. I hope you guys stay warm!
ReplyDeleteThe GOT video is interesting! I only read the first book but I couldn't help but watch the video. This brings a surprising twist to the story (it its true) and I hope they incorporate it into the show. I can't wait for the new season to start!
I hope you have a great week and find a book that interests you.
I think it's true, and most of the clues are there in the first book. I think I missed them the first time around, or if not actually missed, didn't necessarily put it all together. It makes so much sense. And I think the show will incorporate it, from what I've heard.
DeleteSnow... I don't mean to be whiny or anything, but could y'all send a little of it our way? Just three or four inches... Every predicted snow for the last few weeks has been nothing but rain here, and they just switched Monday's prediction to rain, too. Which is fine for people who hate snow, but I happen to like it...
ReplyDeleteI wish you luck in finding the right book! (That was genuine, not sarcastic.) And thanks for that link to the dragon book list. I'm always looking for good dragon books!
I like the snow too, and we were supposed to get some today- but then we got sunshin instead. which was nice. But if it does start flurrying I'll be sure to shoo it your way. :)
DeleteNo snow and in the 70s most of the week here. It did get chilly Saturday with the brisk wind but the sun came out and I enjoyed some time outdoors.
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post - http://fuonlyknew.com/2015/01/25/whats-new-on-my-bookshelf-94-and-the-sunday-post/
Oh, 70's. I'm jealous. I like snow and even the cold... a bit... but let's face it, 70's would be nice here right about now. :)
DeleteToday was a really nice day but tomorrow they are calling for a blizzard. Everytime I turn on the news, the predicted snowfall accumulation is getting higher and higher. They are now saying we could get 2-3 feet of it. Yikes!
ReplyDeleteHope you don't get anything like that. Have a great week and enjoy your books!
Oh I'm tempted to watch the John Snow video, but I haven't read the books so I fear it will be BIG TIME spoilers for me. I don't have any good guesses anyway.
ReplyDeleteWe've has beautiful weather - I'll have to try to send some of it up y'all's way. I mean we had some rain, but mainly we've been in the high 50s, low 60s and its been great. Have a great week Greg, stay warm :)
Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI moan about the sun at present but then again I hate grey skies and not much sun. Hope you latch onto the right book to read.
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing here in Ohio, though we should only see 4-6" if the weathermen are right. Hope you find a great read for the week! I've just started listening to A Game of Thrones.
ReplyDeleteBrooke at http://www.brookeblogs.com
Mr. Penumbra has been on my wishlist for ages. Just have to track it down.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep an eye out for your post on Mr. Penumbra. Ive been wondering about that book.
ReplyDeleteWe're here in Florida for most of the winter now and the sun is such a welcome change... it's so dark and gloomy at home this time of year. Have a great week.
We've had some cold weather here, but either sunny with cold or clouds with cold. No snow yet though. I hope you figure out what to read soon! Glad to hear you enjoyed the vintage sci-fi month!
ReplyDeleteI don't plan on reading or watching game of Thrones, for some reason the series doesn't really appeal to me.
The snow missed us this weekend. The sun even made an appearance. It was nice to see. Hope you find a fabulous book to read!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here, but that's much of a surprise since I'm in GA. It does look like we'll get some snow next monday though, but I'm hoping we don't...if there is one thing Georgia citizens can't handle it's snow. An inch of it will cause all manner of panic. I hope you have a good week and try to stay warm!
ReplyDeleteNo snow here either as it's the middle of summer :-) but we are getting a lot of rain today. Great weather for ducks! A quiet week is a good week. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI hope you found the perfect book to read this week! It's frustrating when you can't seem to find the one that works.
ReplyDeleteHope you are not snowed in - we didn't have any here in SE England for the past 3 years I think! I can't believe that January is almost finished already.
ReplyDeleteThe Pegster Reads
the heat and humidity has been so foul here, I'm fantasising about snow ...
ReplyDeleteHope you find an engrossing read this week. GoT video was cool ... I like his theories.
We saw some sun around our parts this week! It was nice! I had forgotten almost what it was like. Lol. I didn't know there was a dragon appreciation day! One of the students I used to work with would love that day - I kept having to order more and more dragon books for the library - he devoured them!
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to checkout the Dreams and Dragons dragon stories post. Thanks for the heads up. :)
