Sunday Post #70 It's Snowing!
Hard to believe we're halfway through November already. This has been a quiet week, not much reading done, but I'm kind of at a point where my reading is wide open- not sure what I'll read next. I've got mysteries and holiday reads lined up, but I'd like to read some fantasy as well. So I'll have to see what jumps out at me. Any suggestions?
The holidays are approaching like a freight train and I'm actually thinking of putting holiday lights up early this year, and of course holiday music is in full swing on radio stations. Is it too early? I don't know- the weather's pretty frightful so why not a little holiday cheer? We had blizzard conditions for a few days this week.

I wish we had some snow here! It's way too warm for November and I feel like it should be really cold so I could stay inside and read :)
ReplyDeleteI just started reading a fantasy series I've heard great things about: Jim Butcher's Storm Front (Dresden Files). I'm about 1/4 into the story and it's fun! I really like the narrator, it's like a wizardy film noir.
I love that Charlie Brown song soooo much! Seriously. It puts a smile on my face any season. As far as fantasy.. I think I am going to give the Wheel of Time series a go. I have the first two books but haven't made an effort to get into them. Yeah for snow!
ReplyDeleteI love it too, and play the soundtracka lot at Christmas time. Very relaxing... :) I need to read some more fantasy too, I've taken such a break and it would be nice to get back into it.
DeleteWinter Frost looks amazing :)
ReplyDeleteHere's mine:

I think so too, and am looking forward to that one. In fact I may read it soon! Have a great week!
DeleteYou got some nice new additions last week, Greg! I would read Winter Frost straight away if I had that one - it looks really good.
ReplyDeleteI think What Happens at Christmas is my kind of book, too, I need to check it out.
Have a great Sunday and a fantastic week :)

I am looking forward to Winterfrost, I think it will fun. And What Happens at christmas was very fun- the dialogue is great. I definitely recommend it. It had me laughing a lot, it was that funny. :)
DeleteWe got some snow too. I am not very happy about it. And, we are at the point in the holidays when we can't decide what to do about decorating.
ReplyDeleteI'm here: http://fangswandsandfairydust.com/2014/11/sunday-after-ball.html
I was out shopping when the snow started here in Eastern Iowa yesterday. It made the roads so slick! I was happy to get home safely. Have a good week, Greg.

I am so jealous of everyone and the snow they got. We had stinky cold weather (which I love) and crappy rain. I want snow **stomps feet*** ;)
ReplyDeleteHolidays are fast approaching and I need to get christmas shopping for my little people soon. I am planning on putting up xmas lights in the windows of our house (I live on the second floor) I never did that before but I am feeling super festive this year and want a little sparkle in the windows!
I want to read Winterfrost! Love the cover and the synopsis sounds amazing!
That is one of MY FAVORITE Christmas songs :) besides Christmas Eve by the Transyberian Orchestra (totally spelled that wrong)
Have a great week, Greg! Stay warm :)
All Charlie Brown moments remind me of my kids when they were little...their sweet little voices singing along. Nostalgic much? LOL
ReplyDeleteTrust Me, I'm Lying looks interesting. Have a great week, and thanks for the shout-out about Rita's new blog. I wondered why I hadn't gotten an e-mail from her other blog when she posted!
Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.
I definitely get nostalgic for the Charlie Brown Christmas. It just bring s back such good memories.
DeleteI was happy to see Rita's new blog too.
5 inches! Wow...glad we aren't seeing that yet...I like to enjoy Autumn until after Thanksgiving! Looks like WinterFrost will fit right in at your house!
ReplyDeleteI know it, we have a lot of snow and it's been snowing all day too. Winter weather advisory... let the fun begin. :(
DeleteWow the snow seems early this year or is it normal for where you live? We usually don't get snow until late december or January if at all.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read a lot of fantays books lately, so I can't think of any books to recommend you. I am currently on a sci-fi reading spree in hopes of getting a few more reviews in this month.
Trust Me I am Lying looks good. Yep snow makes me think of Christmas carols it cannot be helped. No blizzard conditions here..just frigid temps. Have a wonderful week Greg!
ReplyDeleteYou too, and I agree- it's looking Christmas-y here.
DeleteI added Winterfrost to my TBR this week. We are supposed to get snow today. It's so early for us! We usually won't get snow until January. Maybe December, but usually January.
ReplyDeleteI know the feeling! I didn’t have much reading time this week, and I’m in the middle of an almost 600 page book, which doesn’t help much for motivation levels :) I'm really enjoying it, and I wish I had the time to read more... but I'd also love to have it finished already!! I usually resort to flipping a coin and calling heads or tails when I'm unsure of what to read. (Then I'll end up choosing the opposite book to read next...LOL!)
ReplyDeleteAnd wow, that much snow already?! Winter really is starting early thing year! I really hope you love Trust Me, I’m Lying! I’ve had my eye on that for a while now, it sounds so good :) Enjoy all you’re books and have a great week!
I didn't have much reading time, and I hope you get through your book. I know how that is, when you're in one and just can't seem to get t oit. Gets frustrating. :)
DeleteWe are definitely getting an early start to winter... it's been snowing lightly all weekend.
We haven't had snow yet, but it's been quite cold here in NY. I'm just north of NYC but I know part of upstate NY (way upstate) have already gotten snow. It's going to be a long winter, I think. Cold, snowy, icy...just means lots of indoor time which hopefully equates to lots of reading time!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
I think you're right- it's starting early, and we have quite a bit of snow already. That doesn't bode well for the rest of fall LOL. But yes more reading time! :)
DeleteBlizzard conditions?? I'm not 100% what that means but it sounds awful! I'm trying to get on top of my Christmas shopping so I'm not scrambling around at the last minute like usual! What Happens at Christmas sounds funny and I'm really curious about Trust Me I'm Lying. The cover for Winterfrost looks like something I'd enjoy as well. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt is kinda awful, in the sense that we had flurries all over the place and snowy roads and the whole deal. Not a great way to spend the week. :) I'm hoping to get started on shopping too, but we'll see- I always say that and then I'm doing last minute shopping, so who knows?
DeleteWhat Happens at Christmas sounds good and Behind the Shattered Glass too. I love that Charlie Brown Jazz collection cd, one of my go-tos because I grew up on Charlie Brown books and shows. If life hands you lemons, or several inches of snow, go out and make a snowman!! Enjoy, and by the way, thanks for the shout-out.
ReplyDeleteI've been fortunate to have some good reads in the country house genre. And I love that CD too, in fact I may get it out and enjoy it as the holidays approach. Nice to see your new blog Rita!
DeleteBehind the Shattered Glass looks intriguing, and I love the cover.
ReplyDeleteI do too, and I hope it's good. Thank for visiting!
DeleteI hope you enjoy your new reads! It's snowing here too and I am not liking it one bit..it's that time of the year I wish I was rich so I could go live in my winter home in some place warm and tropic..lol. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Thank you, and I know what you mean! I need t obe somewhere warm right now. Some warm tropical breezes would be nice... :)
DeleteI've lived in California all my life so I would love to have some snow for the holidays. But I'm sure I would hate to drive in that weather, so hopefully you can stay warm!! I feel like putting up the decorations already too. That way we can enjoy it longer since the days are moving way too fast now. Enjoy your new books and have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteAll of your books sound great! The holidays are sure coming up fast. I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteWow! Snow already! Such a different world here in south Texas!
ReplyDeleteWww.readerbuzz.blogspot.com
Thanks for the link to Rita's new blog. I was hoping someone would have it.
ReplyDeleteI think it's too soon for holiday music but some of the radio stations have already started.
A Star Trek Log book! I haven't seen one of those in years! Is this a new one or did you get a copy of an old one?
I got it off ebay, I read it when I was younger and thought it would be a treat to revisit. It's been a long time! LOL. Looking forward to how it hold up.
DeleteIt is a little early for holiday tunes, but I'm in the Christmas mood so early this year. Must have been that readathon... :)
I LOVE the sound of Trust Me I'm Lying. (And what a great title!)
ReplyDeleteI do too- everything about that book just looks good! I hope to get to it soon... :)
DeleteI envy you the snow, sounds wonderful for the festive season, although I know it has its drawbacks. Winter Frost looks very appropriate for the season.
ReplyDeleteI do like the snow, although I'm not sure see it quite this early. :) Still I am in the christmas mood a bit. We'll see how I feel in a month! Thank you for visiting, hope your week is a good one!
DeleteI kind of think it's too early for Christmas music and decorations but that's just me. I prefer it to be kept to December. Is is early for you to have snow already? Here in Australia we've had some sweltering hot days temps of which we normally get in Summer, not Spring. Now I'm wondering how hot this summer is going to be.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week, stay warm and happy reading.
Sharon @ Sharon's Book Nook!
I know it, it is early and I am in the mood for christmas early this year! It is early for us to have snow, although not unheard of. I hope you have a good week, I may be wishing for some of your arm temps soon!
DeleteI don't envy you the snow but it's been quite hot here, especially since it's only Spring. I Hope you find something to read and enjoy!
ReplyDeleteShelleyrae @ Book'd Out
Some of that heat might be nice as we're only in the 20's! Although I don't like it super hot... year round 70's would probably work for me!
DeleteI'm embracing Estellagram's #SeetheGood this month and as far as the snow goes, it does get you in the holiday spirit... that's something! We have less than 5 inches, but my return to winter is still jarring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to the podcast post. .. a couple were new to me!
It does egt you in the holiday mood, that's for sure! It is hard t ocome back to
DeleteI was shocked to find snow outside my window this morning. No blizzard conditions yet thankfully but we are supposed to get 3-5 inches by the time all is said and done. A few of our local schools are closed. I was really hoping this wouldn't happen till December at least :(
ReplyDeleteYou have some interesting books on your list. I have added the Victoria Alexander book to my TBR list for this Christmas. I also want to try the Lady Emily mysteries some time.
I figured your side of the state was hit pretty hard by snow. We have had a light dusting here and there, but nothing too major yet. I think this early winter and snow have put me in the mood for Christmas though! I even turned on the all Christmas music radio station today, which I don't usually do until after Thanksgiving! And the Charlie Brown Christmas music is my favorite this time of year. :)
