This week I have a nice look at Chinatown in Yokohama for the Lunar New Year courtesy of Virtual Japan. One of the highlights is at 4:52

I have to say too I saw a discussion this week on "blogging is dying," and while it may be true in a larger sense, there are still many of us here. I took a hiatus (unplanned) for much of last year and I am SO glad to be back. Seeing old friends and reconnecting has been special. The other thing is- we're kind of blogging for ourselves? We're like our own community- and honestly that's okay.

    The commercial approach to blogging, much like other social media platforms, seems to be waning. I engage in blogging as a means of personal expression or daily journaling. It has proven to be an enjoyable endeavor.

    I still enjoy blogging, I think many of us do, while it doesn't have the storm of people that it use to, I think there are still plenty about. When I was younger I loved Day of The Triffids...oh who am I kidding, I will still watch it if I see it is on...its so campy

    I'm you're blogging again. I think even if you post once a month, it's perfectly okay. Even I sort of take unplanned haitus. I am sort of blogging for the six or seven people who regularly visits my blog and that's okay. I think as long as people are blogging, I will too.

    We've been declared dead many times, yet we still plug along. I think a lot of people who were in it for free books and a large following didn't make it and that's ok. Others just grew out of it because...life happens and, again, that's ok.

    I'm really happy to be back too. I still chatted with people on SM but the blog is always my favorite place to connect.

    I'm not sure if it means anything, but I saw several online influencers/marketers who are quitting most of their SM platforms and reviving their blogs so who knows - we could all hit another blogging stride!

    I agree with you. I blog for myself, and the people who stop by are the icing on the cake. I hope my daughter brings me some New Year goodies when she comes to visit next week.

    Paper was going away in the late 90s. Yet, I still have paper contracts and we still get paper manuals with things you buy. As long as there is any demand, it will stay. I'm 18 years in blogging, so I'm not ready to give up yet. :)

    Yeah, I see so much about how blogging isn't the big thing anymore, it's TikTok and Instagram and YouTube. I don't enjoying posting on those things really, and I love blogging for all the people I can talk to that way, and just being able to do what I want with it. So I'm here to stay, and I'm glad you're back too! Have a good week!
