Best Music Art #2

I'm a big fan of cover art, as many of my readers know, but something I talk about less is good music art. Whether it's vinyl album art or a CD case, or just promo art to go with streaming or Internet radio, concept art can be a powerful tool for conveying an artists ideas or mood. I find that ambient music and so- called New Age music is especially rich in awesome cover art, but progressive rock and other forms of music also have great examples.

So I thought I'd share some of my favorite pieces of album art, and while electronic music is well represented I tried to draw from as many diverse sources as I could. Let me know in the comments which are your favorites or share your own.

  1. Oh, some great art indeed! Of course, I am a fan of Missing Persons & Duran Duran!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hope you have been well! Actually, the meds I've been taking a little over a month have finally gotten to me. I knew there would be some changes, but I didn't know it would make me feel so bad. On one hand, it is working and a lot of people are on it who don't even have blood sugar problems, but I feel I can't eat much of anything at the moment and that makes me sad with the holidays about.

Here's to Her Name is Rio and of course, Destination Unknown...and let's not forget Berlin's Metro which did inspire me to write a short story many moons ago.

  15. Wow - some really creative art. Somehow I never really considered the effort that goes into makinig album art - much like a book cover - the designer wants it to be eye catching and maybe evocative of the story/music within. These are certainly eye-catching!! I wonder how hard it is these days when fewer people buy actual CDs or albums....so much streaming. But, I guess even if it's a run of 100 CDs, you need good art. Glad you shared these!

  24. Love this post. I would say that I definitely take album art for granted now that most things are digitized. But I went into a record store the other day and really enjoyed looking through all the artwork.
