Sunday Post #423

Is it fall yet? The leaves are hardly falling over here. I love this time of year though- the cool air, the bare branches scratching against the sky, the moonlight. And even though I love October, I'm already planning ahead for some holiday reading. The HoHoHo readathon is coming up and I'm going to use this as my post to sign up.

In other news I want to repost a story I posted a few years ago. You may remember Trust Issues and I'm going to repost a chapter a week so I hope you don't mind seeing it again! Also I'm sharing a walking tour this week- if you don't want to watch the whole thing the first 2:30 or so give the highlights.

This week I have a triple dose of Halloweenish fright for you.

  2. It's 90 here today (yes 90 - ugh) but is supposed to be fifteen degrees cooler tomorrow. Bring it on! I'm feeling ready for some holiday reads, too.

  3. Love those Halloween ambiance videos! We don't have many fall leaves in Los Angeles but I've been seeing a lot on Instagram so I'm getting my fix😁

  4. These Tokyo videos are so impressive, thanks for sharing and proving us with our weekly dose of Japan

  5. It's 80 here (Can we blame El Nino?), but the cool weather is on its way. The leaves have been falling though.

  6. We had snow in our mountains last week...the white dusting looked so pretty against the autumn colors. I just wish this time of year lasted a little longer; it's so pretty.

  7. We don't really get the whole color changing leaves here. Some tree's lose their leaves but that's about it. I would have to go to the mountains to see anything like that. Palm tree's and cactus don't lose their leaves during the Winter. lol

  8. We just got our first snow. Only a couple of inches, and it didn't last long, but Fall is Here!

  10. I just read Trust Issues. I hope there will be more. Is each part about a different couple? If so, really cool.

  11. Getting into the Halloween vibes, I see! The leaves are definitely starting to fall where I am, and it's a little disappointing because we get such a short window of time between foliage color change to bald bare branches!

  12. I hope fall gets to you soon! It's fall here for sure. The leaves are yellow, and it was below freezing when I went running yesterday.

  13. Great videos! I am loving October, and I might even start collecting some Christmas books and movies!

Enjoy your week, and here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  14. It's been weirdly warm here, but all the trees are turning and the leaves are falling. I think this is my favorite season. I need to start thinking about books for the HOHOHO Readathon. Have a great week!

  15. I don't mind cooler temps, but lows of 39 isn't fall! Our weather here is so up and down. At least this next week we are back to 70's with lows in the low 50's upper 40's. I am not ready for cold weather. :( My bones are not ready either...lol.

Have a great week and happy reading!

  16. I'm with you, this is my absolute favourite season! Even though it's way too cold here, I think I forgot what fall in Europe is like xD 'Burning Candles in the Woods' is what I'm going to be listening to during my spooky reads this month for sure. I hope you have a lovely week ahead :)

  17. I first need to get through Fraterfest before I can do the Ho Ho Ho readathon! It's normally a bit crazy on my side during November, but I'll see what I can do....

It's been cold here with us the last 2 days again, I need summer!

Have a good week Greg and enjoy your writing.

  18. We don't too many leaves falling yet either and not many have changed color either. Southern Indiana is beautiful with rolling hills and winding roads. I saw it in the fall a few years ago and it was beautiful so I'm hoping we can check it out and see fall colors before long.

Just the photos of your scary You-Tube videos look scary to me. I'm a lightweight when it comes to scary stuff!

I hope you have a great week, Greg!

  19. I am doing the HoHoHo too. Hope we both will enjoy it *smile* Happy reading.

  20. We're in the high 50s low 60s today, so yeah, I'd say it's officially TX fall. Personally, I prefer warm weather, so I'm counting down the days for spring lol! But I do enjoy the fall/winter holidays. I just wish they were hot... I should live in AUS/NZ lol!

    Have a great week!

  21. I was looking forward to the fall so much...and here I am, with a nasty flu (no fever, but a cold and a vicious cough), only we're not even having real fall temps yet. I can't even do October properly...

Looking forward to your story - I wasn't around when you first posted it.

  22. It's been so warm here, so I think the leaves are holding off a little while longer. Today the weather has finally turned a bit and it's so nice!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love autumn too and it started to look very autumnal here in the UK - I hope it will come for you soon! 🤞 Take care and happy reading. 🙂

  24. The weather here has finally cooled off, after a "false summer" this past week or two. We had several days up in the 80s! But today is only in the mid-60s. We have a few more days in the low 70s forecast, and then about a week in the mid-60s, which is not unusual for late October in Virginia. I plan to enjoy it with walks and spinning on the porch.

The first spooky Halloween ambient sounds video is very atmospheric. I should figure out a way to broadcast it on the porch on Halloween.

  25. I know right? Where is fall?? Lol. Today is at least appropriately cool. :)

  26. I've been listening to Burning Candles in the Woods a lot recently and I love it!

  27. I loved the Burning Candles in the Woods ambient. 🎃✨

I have a photo of the leaves from last year and it's amazing the difference in the foliage. We're still mostly green here. 🍃

I love the golden quality of the afternoon sun in October. ☀

Have a wonderful new week. 🌞

  28. Cab't say I am a Fall fan. So dark here, and muddy

  29. It's finally turned cooler and I'm loving it. Leaves have been falling for a while but not turning color much yet. See you on the HoHoHoRAT!

  31. I should see if I can work the Ho Ho Ho readerthon into my schedule. I have so many books already that would fit that one. As always, I love the Pulp Fiction cover. Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Love the Halloween ambience! Definitely adding it to my reading music play list. Most of our leaves are still green here but it feels vaguely fall temperature wise which is exciting. Have a great week!

  33. Fall came to Arkansas overnight. Had to turn the heat on and it was 38F outside when I got up this morning. I'm currently under a blanket in the livingroom cuz I can't get warm. Not complaining though!!! I love being huddled under blankets.

  34. The weather here has been crazy - 80s and rainy last week and fall temps this week.

  37. The leaves have just started turning and falling here. It is just going to hopefully start to feel like Fall here this week. Have a great week!

  38. I think we're past peak colors here in Duluth. Our gloomy, rainy week took care of lots of the leaves. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  39. The leaves are still on the trees here. The weather finally turned cooler on Friday - and my furnace doesn't work. I turned it on on Friday night and didn't realize until Saturday morning that something was wrong. I believe it's the ignitor that has gone bad. I'm guessing the part (minus the labor) will cost around $175 to $200. Yay for me!

  40. we are having a little cool spell here in the florida panhandle, but the sun is bright. its supposed to warm up again and i like that. lol it is fall, because the leaves are falling like raindrops. i still see a lot of butterflies.

  42. I'm kind of a 3-season girl--I love spring, summer, and fall but really dislike winter. Since we've been traveling, we've experienced lots of spring and summer but very little fall and winter. But we did experience fall in Alaska this year! It had just hit peak color and started flurrying when we left. It made our souls happy. I hope you get your fall color soon!

    Enjoy your week!

  43. We just finally dipped down into the 60s for high temps here in Virginia and it seems like the leaves are just starting to change. It seems late though because I usually like to head up the mountains on my birthday to go leaf peeping and my birthday is this Friday and there's just not much to see yet.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Lots of fall color here in Arkansas! We don't get any at home, though.

Thanks for posting the triple dose of scary.

  45. It's just now starting to cool off a little here and some trees are starting to change. Not many quite yet though.

  46. The leaves are definitely falling over here, the heating is on and the nights are drawing in. I do agree I love this time of year, though. It's just so cosy and I can get in the mood for Halloween.
