Sunday Post

The big news for me this week is... I have Covid! Yes, I tested positive after showing symptoms this past weekend. Nice, huh? So far I feel pretty good. My symptoms are relatively mild so far- I'm hoping for the best. I am high risk so that's a little worrisome- some of my readers know I had heart surgery three years ago- but I'm staying positive. Taking a day at a time. For those who are interested, here's a snapshot of how it went.

My symptoms started last Sunday with a dry cough and runny nose. Honestly, the first two days were the worst so far? They weren't bad, but I was thinking...dry cough? So I called the doctor, who referred me to the Covid hotline, who referred me to an online screening. The screening then gives you dates and times for the drive-thru testing in the area. Test results were promised in 48-72 hours. Seriously? I got mine the next day.

The other big news of course is the debate. Wasn't that fun? I only saw parts of it but, honestly, that was plenty. I saw something on Twitter to the effect that the next debate will just be a fistfight in a Chili's parking lot, and I had to share this. :)

  1. Yes yes covid but also THE 100 ENDED my goodness! (I must sound like such a callous bitch to other people reading this but you know that is not the case hah.) OH I meant to ask you and while we're talking about it, do you not smell stuff!? I wondered if that was real and I never asked my aunt. Anyway, I am still always knocking on all the things and crossing all appendages that your case stays mild!

Oh, the debate. I mean, I legit only watched maybe 3 minutes total before I was at risk of some sort of stroke, what a complete mess. Although will there even BE a next debate now? I mean, dude's in the hospital, and if I were Joe, I'd be renting a hazmat suit if I had to do another one.

  2. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! Do you know where you got it, because I know you're careful, so that's pretty crazy. Anyway, the debate - hahaha, I also heard a line from some comedian about the last time they saw two men of this age bickering this much, it was over whose leaves were being blown onto the other's lawn. Anyway, speaking of which, hopefully Trump will recover - as uncouth as he is and even though I don't always agree with his politics, I don't want to see covid cause any more misery - so I hope you and everyone who has it kicks the virus's ass! Glad to hear you are doing well and may you get through it fast :)

  4. Ohh what shit luck! I hope you're resting and taking care of yourself. We're still in lockdown for the second time in Melbourne and bracing for a third wave. Please keep yourself hydrated and make sure someone is with you or you have someone to call if you need help. Can I ask how old you are? I have the same symptoms but passed it off as spring allergies, I feel fine as well. We're locked down anyway so it probably doesn't matter much as I'm not out or about. Hoping for a swift recovery!

  5. Oh no. I didn't know about the heart surgery - we weren't mutuals back then - so I'm sending you an extra dose of good vibes for good measure! What about your family? Are you managing to keep them sheltered? It must be hard of course...Get well soon!

  6. Sending you healing vibes, Greg! I hope you'll continue to feel good, and that you'll heal quickly!

  7. I never watched the debate because it was during the Yankees game but I heard some of it since my dad was watching it and see highlights of it over and over at cnn. it's such a mess. Also, why are you attacking us mobile games? lmao.
Praying for your speedy recovery, Greg!!

  8. Oh no sorry to hear you’ve tested positive for COVID. I remember you having your surgery a while back so I’ll keep my fingers crossed your symptoms stay mild and you have a speedy recovery.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sorry to hear you tested positive, but glad you acted quickly and were able to get your results so fast. Hope the worst of it is over and that you recover quickly

    ReplyDelete
  10. Wow, take care and get well soon, Greg! The next debate will be interesting now that Trump has Covid, maybe they'll do a Zoom debate and someone will mute Trump's mic...

    ReplyDelete
  11. Get well soon, Greg! Thank goodness you’ve only had mild symptoms so far. I hope it stays that way.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Wishing you a speedy recovery and hoping it doesn't get any worse.

  13. So sorry your test came back positive. Here's hoping your symptoms stay mild and you quickly recover! Thoughts and prayers your way. :)

  14. I am sorry you have COVID. I hope it remains a mild case and you have a complete recovery!

I didn't watch any of the debate, and it's probably for the best. I watched the video you shared--too hilarious.

I hope you are able to get lots of rest! Take care, Greg.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Eep, hope you keep on cruising through it! Make sure you take care and rest while you can.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh Greg, I hope it stays a mild case and you get through this easily. I didn't know about the open heart surgery. I sure hope you aren't feeling too bad right now.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Greg! No! I am relieved to hear it's been pretty mild so far and has gotten better since the first two days. Do you have any idea where you may have gotten it? I read a couple of articles where it said it depends on how much of the virus you were exposed to, as to how mild-severe it is. They said the less exposure the milder because your body only has to fight a little bit and doesn't have to kick into high gear which starts that cascading effect of symptoms. We have spiked again here, so I've been wearing a mask all the time when Baz is home because sometimes we accidentally end up in the same room together. Sending all the healthy energies to you. Please keep us updated. 💜

I didn't watch the debate because I knew it would raise my blood pressure sky high. 😯

Have a wonderful and healthier week! 🌞

  18. Greg! It's been a long time. I dropped off the blogosphere but I'm tentatively trying to get back! How have you been? So sorry to hear about covid but you are positive and you're already in the right track knowing that's what you have so that's good!

    ReplyDelete
  19. So sorry to hear you got Covid. Hope it will be a mild case, thinking of you. Only saw a little of the debate on our news - I couldn't watch such behavior for long! I doubt there will be another one with Mr T not too good.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I am sorry to hear you have Covid, Greg. I pray it will stay a mild case and that you will make a full recovery soon. 🙏 Over here in the UK we only had to endure a snippet of the debate on our news and that was bad enough!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh my goodness Greg! Hope you are okay...!! I hope you take some sort of blood thinner as well. With heart surgery, I'm sure you do in any case. I hope you recover quickly! Just stay in bed with good books and Netflix. Best excuse to do it EVER!!!

    Will be thinking of you.

PS: I ignored the debate completely. I enjoyed my holidays.

  22. Oh, no, Greg!! Best wishes for a fast recovery and that the symptoms don't get worse than they are now.

    That debate was a sh*tshow!!

  23. Wishing you a speedy recovery! My advice take zinc, vit B, D and drink tonic water. A couple I know both had it and they are in their late 60's he has afib and that is the things they took and it seem to help them. Both just had mild symptoms and are now over it. (I figure taking them things wouldn't hurt anything)

I also think it's stupid that they won't give you anything for it unless you are bad enough to be in hospital, you would think they would want to try and keep you OUT of the hospital! :(

You will be in my prayers!

  24. So sorry to hear you tested positive for COVID but I hope the symptoms stay mild, that you'll recover soon and that your family stays healthy. I didn't know you were a heart patient so sending some good vibes your way!

  25. Oh yikes! I hope it remains a mild case 🤞. Do you know where you picked it up? Wow, it's already been 3 years since your surgery?! It does not seem that long.

I didn't watch the debate - every time Trump speaks I want to punch him and I don't love Biden even if I will be voting for him, no debate will change my mind- but I've read recaps and yeah, I think I'm glad I didn't watch. That video is too funny though. I might watch the Pence v Harris debate though. Not that it would change my mind, but I feel like it would be more substantive.

Have a great week and mend quickly!

  26. Sorry you are sick! Hopefully you continue to just have mild symptoms.
The debate was insane but that video of old men fighting is HILARIOUS!

  27. I am sorry about your COVID diagnosis, and here's hoping you will recover quickly without any after effects.

Those debates were horrible, weren't they? I am thinking that there won't be any more, now that 45 has COVID, too!

I love the image entitled "As."

Have a safe recovery and enjoy your books.

  28. Oh no! I'm sorry you have COVID, and I hope and pray it stays mild and you recover quickly. And that no one else in your household gets sick. Get plenty of rest and all the other things you do to take care of yourself when you're sick.

  29. I'm so sorry you're dealing with COVID! Do you think your kids were exposed to it at school? Jacob had a cold the other day and his work made him get tested. Thankfully, it was negative. However, both of my parents are in the hospital and on ventilators. I hope you feel better soon!

The debate was a shit show.

    Wishing you a great week

  32. I feel like we're all going to get it at some point since there isn't one cohesive plan and we have to go do necessary things eventually.

I really hope that your symptoms were the worst of it and it's just a matter of waiting it out.

    Thinking of you...

  33. Wishing you a speedy recovery and that your symptoms will stay mild. Oh yes, the debate. To be honest, that wasn´t a debate at all. It was a disaster. Get well soon and happy reading if you can.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh no! I hope you recover quickly! We didn't even watch the debate. We have to do absentee voting and I mailed in our ballots before that apparent disaster. No changing our minds now. I honestly wouldn't have watched it anyway. I know who I'm voting for and there's no point in upsetting myself with that debacle.

  35. Oh no! I'm so sorry that you got COVID. I'm hoping you make a speedy recovery!

As for the debate, I didn't even bother watching it. After hearing how much of a tragedy it was, I was like "Nah, not worth watching it."

  45. So, you and the Pres? But seriously! Omg! I'm so happy to hear your symptoms are mild so far, and I hope that continues to be the case! So many have had Covid that knock it and and move on. I'm counting on you being in that vast group. :)

That video of the old men fighting is priceless! You'd think the taller guy would give up being he's so bad at fighting, but nope, he just likes getting knocked down I guess? Lol. Yes, very Presidential debate-ish, lol! Loved The Saturday Night Live skit of the debate. Jim Carey had me laughing my ass off.

    Get well soon, Greg!

  46. Oh dear. COVID? Do you have any idea when /where you got it? I keep doing magical thinking like if I just wear my mask I will be safe for sure but then I spend a whole weekend with my sister and her husband without masks. I know. I hope you start to improve quickly and that none of your loved ones get it. It was a weird week. Here's what I have to say about it on my blog

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh no! You been hanging out with Trump lately? :) Feel better soon Greg!

  50. i am sorry to hear you have covid and i appreciate you sharing what is going on. i hope it passes quickly. i, too, am high risk, as is my husband, and i was keeping my covid bubble VERY small. mr wonderful has been called back to work and it is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. they are working on the building and have tons of disaster workers for the hurricane all over the state college campus. they are told to stay in their office and use phones and zoom. i don't know what they are thinking! now it looks like another hurricane heading our way...:-(

  51. Hope you get better soon and aren't left with lingering side effects. The debate was accurately described as a train wreck. I really hope they find a way to let the moderator mute the mike of anyone who interrupts for the next head to head debate. I hope the VP debate will be more pleasant to watch. Of course, I've already voted so nothing they do will change for me. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  53. I'm so sorry to hear that you have Covid and I certainly hope you only get a mild version of it. Our websites were saying a runny nose is not a Covid sign-well obviously they got that wrong! I avoided watching the debate as it would just get me wound up-a bit like Trump's joyride today!!! Take care *hugs*

  56. Here's to a quick recovery, my friend! Our school district required all employees to get tested last Thursday ahead of students returning today on a 3:2 model, so half-time. Whoever said the test didn't hurt, that it just felt like 'pressure' is a big fat liar because that hurt like a bitch and BURNED. I felt like I had a bloody nose for so long after.

  58. I'm so sorry to hear you have COVID, Greg. I really hope that your symptoms will stay mild and the road to recovery is a smooth and short one. 65. I'm so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but glad that your case seems to be mild. It's crazy how all over the map this virus is. We are tested weekly but so far have been negative thankfully. Being at risk sure does raise the stakes! Hope even if you're feeling okay you're still getting plenty of rest and taking care of yourself. I have heard from some of the doctors here that there have been some indications that exertion too early in recovery can cause lung inflammation - not permanent but definitely not something you want to deal with. Hope you're indulging in lots of rest, good books, and good TV!
