Sunday Post #130

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This has been a quiet week. The weather has been marginally better, it warmed up a bit and got windy on Friday. Even got a little sun... in cat news, the stray is still coming around, and I'm still feeding him. He's as skittish as ever, if he even sees me in the window he takes off. But I like having him around, and he knows where to get food...

I'm still watching The 100 and doing weekly recaps now, so stop by to chat about the episodes if you want. The show is a mixed bag right now- still good but they're taking certain characters in interesting directions.

This week I reviewed Sanctuary Bay and read The Immortals- that post will be up next Thursday.

Sanctuary BayThe Immortals (Olympus Bound #1)

I just saw this cover this week.  I liked the first two books a lot.

  1. Aww a stray! Yeah my cat Shuffles was a stray - VERY skittish. About two years later we 1) can't get rid of him (not that we want to), 2) he's fiercely protective of our house towards other cats lol. Not skittish any more! It sounds like he likes it there :) Just a little wary until he knows he can trust you. Over time speaking to them in a "good boy" voice can help them trust you (higher pitched happy voice), or sometimes giving them a treat if you have leftover meat from last nights dinner. Takes time though :) In my experience about 2 months then they'll "allow" you in the same room lol, how long has it been?

    1. Isn't that funny how at first they're skittish, and now he acts like he owns the place? LOL. Cats... gotta love 'em. Yeah I kinda enjoy having him come around actually, when I see him show up then I know he's alright. :)

I'll have to give him some meat, that's a good idea. And he's been coming around for almost a month, give or take- I think?

  2. The hubs and I have been talking about reviving The 100. We left off in season 1 just when the mom came down so we have a lot we could catch up on! Maybe when we finish this last season of Supernatural.

    1. The first season was hit or miss, frankly. I didn't really like the space stuff I was more into the storyline on land but S2 if you can get there is pretty good.

  3. Pulp covers are the best! I love the one you chose. I'm excited about the new Ellery Adams as well. I just absolutely love the cover even though I haven't actually read the others in the series yet! Cats can be difficult to get to warm up. We ended up with my Mother-in-law's cat after she died and even though she lived in the same house with us it was probably 6 weeks before she would not run away as soon as she saw us coming! Have a great week!

    1. I am enjoying the pulp covers, and thought it's be fun to showcase them. :) And yes I love that new cover too- she has the best covers (at least on this series).

That's exavtly what this cat does- if he sees me in the window or I open the door he's gone. So I can't get close... but he keeps coming back.

  6. I still have to watch season three of Orphan Black! I am happy you are feeding the feral cat. Two thumbs up. It was warm enough that I had windows open today. That is one if my big dislikes of winter, closed windows. I will have to take a look at forgotten books post, Thanks for adding the link. Have a wonderful week. :)

  9. Love the Dead in Bed cover. It sounds like you had a darn good week Greg. Someday I am going to get caught up on my DVR and power watch some of these shows like the 100. Glad the cat is sticking around, they are sometimes slow to warm up, but worth it. Here's to warmer weather! Have a great week Greg.

  14. A quiet week is generally a good one, right? And aww, you almost have a pet cat lol. I feel like some animals just never quite stop being skittish, but maybe the cat will come around eventually :-)

Speaking of cats, why does almost every cozy mystery have a cat on the cover? I wonder this every time I see them lol. Is it just one of those things?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yeah quiet is good sometimes. :) And I know it about the cat- I thought he's come around a bit and vanish, but nope he's still around. Course I keep feeding him LOL.

I've noticed that about cozies too- cats are a thing. What's worse is when the cats have psychic powers or are the ones solving the crime! I haven't actually read any like that but I've seen a few. I just don't know... :)

    2. A cozy mystery in which the cat solves the mystery... that does sound different lol. Now I'm picturing Scooby Doo, the cat version.

    3. There has to be a post in there somewhere- either magical cats or Scooby Doo. A cat version of scooby Doo could be interesting LOL.

  22. I gave The 100 another shot this week and watched last Friday's episode. I still need to watch this Friday's, but I'm liking this season a little more than I was. I'm so behind on Black Sails! I think I have three episodes to watch. Hopefully I can get them in today. I don't know if my watching a week's worth of tv on the weekend is really working. LOL!

    1. You're welcome! I'm in the middle of The Immortals right now, and I'm enjoying it mostly in spite of a few minor issues. I'll be reviewing it this week... and I do that too if a book is hot sometimes it get another look from me and sometimes I'll even pick it up just to see what the hype is about, or maybe because it genuinely appeals and I might have otherwise missed it.
