Sunday Post #100

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This week I was asked how I organize my TBR pile, by the fine folks over at SFSignal. You can see my response, along with the other panelists, here. Otherwise this week was good- perfect weather. Sunny every day, low 80's I read several books, including the much hyped Big Lille Lies- I have to say, it may be my favorite book of the year so far- I loved it. I'll be reviewing it on Tuesday.

Here's another recipe from Brys Estate Winery and Vineyard- last week's thin crust pizza recipe seemed popular. This week- Quiche with spinach, bacon and mushrooms. Yum.

Here's the slate of free movies at the Traverse City Film Festival. Movies under the stars!

Here's a look at Brys Vineyard.

Beth Fish Reads has a Paper Towns movie giveaway going on.

Paperback Princess reviews Don't Ever Change.

Downright Dystopian reviews No Such Person.

Rinn Reads reviews Time Salvager.

  1. I think I'll pass on the Torch Lake Sandbar party! I can imagine the residents not being thrilled about that. I love the cover of The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle! I'll have to go find out more about the book. With a cover like that it has to be good. Have a great week!

  2. Oh, I would be among the angry residents concerning that party. :( But your incoming books look good and yay for perfect weather!

  3. What fun you are having! And that Torch Lake Sandbar party makes me think of Woodstock images from the distant past...but in a field instead of a beach. It made me smile.

Thanks for sharing...and I love that cover on The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle.

I haven't posted my Weekly Updates yet....hoping to finish one more book. Sadly, another week with not much happening in my bookish life.

  9. Is it wrong that I was expecting a bunch of Piranhas to show up in the video? If I was younger that might have been something I would have gone to but not at this age and not my daughter :)

The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle has a beautiful cover! and now I want it :)

The Cheese Shack looks so rustic and cute and YUM, sandwiches! I wish we had cozy little places around here like that.

I look forward to your choose your path post!

    1. Not a tall... piranhas would have been fun, or maybe sharknado!! Ha ha. That would have spiced things up a bit LOL. And I agree- when I was I might have gone, hmm I need to be there. :)

I love sandwiches, a good sandwich shop is best. WE need more of too!

  10. I have to say I have so much fun visiting your Sunday Post. I don't think there is a Sunday post that influence my behavior more :)
For instance... you just determine what we are having for breakfast at home today. Read your recipe link and that reminded I have a crust in the freezer I wanted to use for days now. And I love quiche! so got up and took the crust out of the freezer to defrost. Then I watch your 4th of july video which made me think of my own college days and went on texting some college friends, lol Also put a bottle of my favorite Pinot in the fridge for this afternoon :) Have a great week Greg

  11. Glad you are enjoying Big Little Lies. I loved that one. My favorite of the year so far is The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah.

I think it would be cool to go to Comic Con but also overwhelming at the same time. Sounds like the Star Wars folks put on quite a show this year. Thanks for sharing the video. I'll have to check it out! Can't wait to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. One of the few things I have to look forward to this winter :)

I think the same thing. I am looking forward to Star Wars, I hope they do it right. :)

  12. Too bad about that beach party. When I lived in FL folks around Daytona Beach complained every year and it was shown on the news how noisy and destructive young folks are, also rival biker gangs mixing it up.
I have interest in The Royal Assassin, Butter Off Dead, and the new Ellery Adams. Good books, Greg! And <> on getting featured in the online Sci-Fi site, yay!

  13. I am unbelievably envious of your 80s weather. I would kill to be below the 90s. lol I love the Cheese Shack and Dunes pics. Awesome! I solemnly swear that I will some day get to a Comic-Con! *determined look* Have a great week!

  14. Hi Greg,
I love your pics! You can imagine all kinds of stories when looking at them :D I'm really glad you liked Big Lille Lies, it's so good when you try a new book and you fall in love with it! They're the best type to revisit later on :D
    Have a great week,

  15. Big Lillie Lies sounds good so I'll have to check out your review. I've heard a lot of good things about this book.

That party looks wild and I agree with the other comments and wouldn't want my girls going to that. And it's a shame that partiers have to make a mess at the lake.

I was able to go to the Star Wars panel at Comic Con and it was worth the long wait (you'll have to check out my post).

    Have a great week!

    1. I really liked it. It kept me anxious to see what was going to happen. And a twist surprised me!

I agree the party is a bit much, I like to have fun too but I've seen that lake and I think tht's too much. Too bad...

You were at the con! How awesome- I will dEFINITELY check out your post, very curious to see your thoughts.

  16. I don't remember that lake, it it's been over a decade since I left Michigan. Now that I've read about kids leaving poop on the beach, I think I'll forgo any beach visits next time I go home to visit my mom. Yuck! I don't care how young you are, that's just nasty.

  17. Thanks for the northern exposure. LOL I'm originally from Michigan but haven't been back there in many years. That Janet Fox book looks good and I'm curious about Murder in the Paperback Parlor. I like books about books:)

  21. No, thanks, no big huge drinking parties for me!

Looking forward to your Ellery Adams review; that cover appeals to me. Books and cats - what's not to like?! And the cover for The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle - wow! I'm going to have to track that one down on the basis of the cover and title alone.

Have a wonderful week, Greg, and happy reading!

  22. The cover for The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle looks awesome. I am curious to see what you think of Big Little Lies. No Such Person looks good too. The party at the lake looks fun, just not my kind of people there. I party like that, but with my own generation.

  23. Yay so glad you loved Big Little Lies, Liane Moriarty is one of my favourite Aussie authors! I'm a total cover whore ... I have no idea what it's about but I'd buy The Charmed Children of Rookskill Castle just for that cover lol.
Enjoy your wonderful weather and happy reading :)

  28. Ooh, low 80s. That's my ideal temperature range! We've been more high 80s, low 90s, which is a bit too hot for me. Oh well. At least it's summertime! The Cheese Shack sounds like a place I would like. I'm all about some cheese! Enjoy your week!
