Top Ten Hidden Gem Books in Science fiction/ fantasy

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new Top Ten list will be posted. Everyone is welcome to join. Link back to The Broke and the Bookish so everyone can check out other bloggers' lists. It's a fun way to get to know fellow bloggers.

This week  decided to go with SF/ fantasy, I feel like there's been a raft of under the radar, or just really good, SF books lately, and here are some recent favorites.

World of Water (Dev Harmer Mission, #2)

Six Wakes

All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries, #1)

The Complete Morgaine (Morgaine Saga #1-4)

Emilie and the Hollow World (Emilie, #1)

Kalahari (Corpus, #3)

Alex + Ada: The Complete Collection

Rolling in the Deep (Rolling in the Deep, #.5)

Heir to the Jedi (Star Wars)

Time Salvager (Time Salvager #1)

  9. Book about Murderbot sounds good (or anything with murder in title or description sounds good haha)

I don't know if you have read Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve but I think you might like that. Like London is this machine of a city that hunts for other cities.

  12. Your books always have such great covers! Does Time Salvager involve time travel? I'm going to check that one out for sure. That Star Wars novel looks fun too!

    1. Thanks! Time Slavager IS about time travel, it's set in the future and they go back in time to harvest resources.

    1. Kalahari was pretty good, and so Was Vitro, another one by the same author. They're loosely linked only by the nameless corporation behind it all. :) It does have a nice cover.

  17. I read mostly contemporaries, but I dip my toe in the SFF pool every once in a while. Alex + Ada has me intrigued. I can get behind an AI series.

  19. Since I don't read much Science Fiction it's not shocking that I haven't read any of them so this is a fantastic list to work with! I love the covers for Time Scavenger and Emilie and The Hollow World and I remember your review for Alex + Ada and really want to give that a try too!

  21. Oooh so many more books I need to read! I like the sound of World of Water (it kind of reminds me of Sea Quest DSV, which I was moderately in love with hah) Six Wakes, All Systems Red, Kalahari, and Rolling in the Deep are all on my list, of course. Time Salvager looks really interesting too! Great list!!

    1. All systems Red I LOVED, I would recommend that one first. Rolling in the Deep is a bit slow til the mayhem starts, but she has a sequel coming so yay! And World of Water was quite good!

  22. A few on this list I've read, a couple I was surprised to see, and a bunch more I still need to check out! I thought Kevin Hearne's Star Wars novel was pretty cool too, by the way. I know some people were turned off by the first person, but to me he didn't do a bad job writing Luke.

  33. OMG, Greg!!!! What an AWESOME, OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD (pun intended) collection you have here!! I especially like "The Complete Morgaine"!! I have read the first three books. For some reason, I never did read "Exile's Gate". I really have GOT to get this complete volume!!!

I'm not familiar with the rest of the books you're featuring here, so I'm bookmarking this page so I can check each one of them out!

I want to read more SF, too, so I'm sure that some of these SF books, will be a GREAT addition to my Goodreads shelves!!

  36. You always put together the best lists, Greg. I admit when I first saw the cover of Kalahari I thought of The Chronicles of Narnia. It's the lion, I'm sure. :-) Alex + Ada really appeals to me and so does the Mira Grant book. But so do so many of the others too!
