For Your Eyes Only
There's nothing better than a few laughs with your car chase, am I right?
Ronin
This might seriously be the best car chase ever. I mean judge for yourself. Filmed in Paris- and it has more collateral damage and general carnage than the average car chase too.
Ronin actually has two amazing car chases- here's the other one in Nice, France.
Against All Odds
This one is very good. Beautifully shot- a Ferrari vs a Porsche. And James Woods.
To Live and Die in L.A.
Amazing chase!

Return of the Jedi
This is not technically a car chase, but it's an amazing chase??!??

The Road Warrior
Mad Max: Fury Road
Bonus Round
Total Recall
This isn't a car chase but it's hilarious, especially at 1:22- talk about a human shield!
Point Break
The awesomest foot chase
My dad's favourite car chase was always Steve McQueen in Bullitt but his Korean film collection also feature a lot of good chases.I like most kinds of action scenes and I love Total Recall.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good one. In fact it should have been on this list? I think that I unconsciously picked chases that had a lot of damage to the surrounding area, or at least in some cases... looking back these all seem fairly destructive?
DeleteNo The French Connection? We had to watch that car chase several times and take notes on it for one of my film making classes. Ha ha. Wasn't that Popeye Doyle?
ReplyDeleteAh, yes! I've seen the French Connection more than a couple of times over the years. Popeye Doyle (Gene Hackman) was great!
DeleteNo French Connection! Probably because I'm not as familiar w/ it- but I value that recommendation and will go take a look forthwith :)
DeleteGorgeous Greg, you've pulled out some goodies this morning! Let's be honest. Are there any bad chase scenes in the Bourne series? Those movies totally rock. I have them on DVD, and still watch it when they show back up on television. And yes, Both Mad Max movies were over the top. Terminator 2 had me on the edge of my set because it was just too close for comfort. I saw Ronin 4 times because it was just a fantastic movie. How crazy was that chase scene, right? Great post and Happy Monday! RO
ReplyDeleteThanks! And yes the Bourne movies have some GREAT scenes. Ronin is awesome!
DeleteWhat a fun list!! One of my favorite chases is the scene in Baby Driver where they go under an overpass and confuse air control by blending in with two other red cars :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I haven't seen that??!?? I will have to check it out!
DeleteYay for Mad Max. What a fun movie. I LOVE this post :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Barb!!!
DeleteI would mention Bullitt; Steve McQueen had an epic car chase in that one that people of my age certainly remember!
ReplyDeleteI should have included Bullitt, frankly. It is an amazing chase!
DeleteI remember that James Bond one. I giggled through the whole thing the first time I saw it in the theater.
ReplyDeleteRight? I still do...
DeleteGreat chases !

Oh my gosh that's funny! Thanks for sharing!!! :)
DeleteLove car chases. The Bourne movies always have good ones.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Bourne movies.
DeleteWhat a fun post! Car chases have always been SO hit or miss for me, so I always enjoy a good one. These are all definitely the better ones!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of these movies, so I'll trust you and take your word for it! ;)
ReplyDeleteThe vast amount of movie references you can tap amazes me!
ReplyDeleteFun post and I loved that the speeder chase from Return of the Jedi made your list. That's actually one of my favorite scenes from that movie.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, even if I don't have time to watch all the car chases. I've always enjoyed the James Bond car chases, including that one. And the RotJ speeder chase is epic. I seem to remember a really fun car chase set in San Francisco in some 80s comedy or other... um, Foul Play, I think?
ReplyDeleteYou're so good at this. I forget the movie as soon as the credits roll - even if I loved it lol
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
I love anything Bourne! The Bond chases are some of my favorites too though I think my favorite is one of the more recent ones with Daniel Craig. Though it did make me want to desperately drive an Aston Martin which isn't in my price range anytime soon!
ReplyDeleteI loved this post but I just realized how few films with car chases I watch - but I did love Mad Max: Fury Road!!
ReplyDeleteI love watching car chases too, but it's more for the vicarious thrill than anything else...since I can't actually drive. 🙈Ahhh yes Mad Max Fury Road is a great car chase. I wouldn't have thought to include Return of the Jedi but you're right, it IS a great chase scene!
ReplyDeleteMad Max: Fury Road is great! A little surprised not to see Death Race on here...I thought all of the chase scenes there were really well done :) Great list, Greg!
ReplyDeleteAwesome chase scenes Greg! I’ve even seen most of them! Where is Bullitt with Steve Mc Queen?! Love that one! ♥️
ReplyDeleteOoh, awesome post! I also love the chases in the original Italian Job, The French Connection, Duel (pretty much the whole movie), Baby Driver (again nearly the entire movie), and Captain America: Winter Soldier (the Nick Fury assassination attempt).
ReplyDeleteMy dad loves car chase scenes. I enjoyed The Return of the Jedi one!
