Hey we broke 50's a couple times this week. Amazing! The Olympics are winding down and I didn't watch as much this time around, although it was on in the background a lot. I'm more of a summer games fan anyway, but there have been some nice moments. Other than that I had a good reading week, I finally finished The Vault of Dreamers. Next up, after I complete the series, is People Like Us.
Last week I reviewed This Fallen Prey and will be reviewing What Alice Knew this week. Also the Marriage Pact as well.
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
BOOKISH LINKS
Part of me is relieved that the Olympics are ending as it has played havoc with my reading schedule! The events have been fun though!
ReplyDeleteYeah same here. I'll miss em kinda but kinda not!
DeleteLove the Jules Verne posters!!!! Is the Tomorrowland poster from Disney World? The Peter Pan one is awesome too. I can't wait for your review of What Alice Knew. It sounds good.
ReplyDeleteAren't those cool? And no I don't think Tomorrowland was used by Disney it by an artist named Laurent Durieux... he has some amazing art!
DeleteI think I'm more of a summer games fan, too! The weather has been crazy warm here, too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI am, definitely. A lot more events in the summer games that I watch...
DeleteLOVE that Jaws cover!!
ReplyDeleteI know? Awesome!
DeleteAs much as I loved watching the Olympics, it took too much time from my usual reading away *lol* And that they were happening in the middle of the night wasn´t helpful either *smile*
ReplyDeleteSeems like you were reading some thrillers lately. Looking forward to read your reviews.
Best wishes
Vi @Inkvotary
Yeah the timing doesn't always work. and even having them on in the background took away from reading for me too.
DeleteI only watch figure skating, it's my favorite sport. I love the artwork this week, that Jaws 2 cover is very clever!
ReplyDeleteI thought so! The figure skating is amazing, just the skill it requires...
DeleteOnly got snippets of the Olympics this time around too. Saw more snowboarding than ever. Love those Agatha Christie covers! Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteLots of snowbording this time, I saw a lot of it too. There were some thrilling moments. Thanks- you too!
DeleteThe illustrations are so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAren't they? I love his work!
DeleteI loved the Jaws movies. They were so much fun especially the first one. It was 45 here yesterday and in the low 50's today. I had to put a sweater on.
ReplyDeleteCHristie has written so many books!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, you read The Marriage Pact? Did you like it? I pretty much liked it :)
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of winter Olympics either :D I am glad this whole thing is over now :)
Your new books look good. I hope you enjoy them. Have a lovely weekend!

What Alice Knew really intrigues me! Enjoy your new reads and have a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteWednesday it was 80. I had shorts on. The next day was 45. Lol why can't it just find a middle!!!.
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING the images you picked this week. My daughter and I one night watched The Creature from the Black Lagoon and my daughter was so mad they tried to kill the Creature. I really did think he was misunderstood ;) I LOVE the poster.
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading! :)
I watched a fair amount of the Olympics, though a lot of the stuff I liked was on late, such as figure skating. I'm curious about People Like Us. Hope it's a good one.

Our weather has been all over the place. As long as 40s some days and I think we hit a record high on Thursday.
ReplyDeleteOh my, those vintage movie posters are something, especially the one for Jaws. It looks so relaxing and calm, lol.
It's been darn near tropical here in NC, and driving me and my allergies bonkers. Looking forward to some cool weather supposedly the end of the week. Who doesn't remember the classic Jaws from way back in the day. Very cool to see again. Happy Saturday! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteWe;ve been at 80 all week with plenty of sunshine! I'm loving all of the illustrations and book covers. The Jaws ones would be great to frame and hang on my wall!
ReplyDeleteHey, we got to the 70s this week. I even slept with the A/C on one night. I soooooo want to read People Like Us! I am so jealous you have that book. I hope it's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI have had People Like Us on my radar for a while now and hope you love it and all your books. Also love the art work! My Shelf
ReplyDeleteI love that art, especially Jaws and the ones with the Octupi. Is octupi right? Too lazy too look it up. I saw Aerosmith in concert twice when I was in college. They are such an awesome group and what longevity. Hope you have a great week Greg!
ReplyDeleteYay for warmer weather. We had the Olympics on in the background too. I prefer the summer as well. Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteGreat posters...and I hope you enjoy The Marriage Pact. I've been eyeing What Alice Knew.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week, and thanks for sharing. Thanks for visiting my blog.
We were in the 40's here and that was great for us. So many great posters. All good. My favorites are Visit Tomorrowland, both Jaws, Floating Pizza, Night Lights and a la plage. How I wish I was that talented.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading
JoLee
I've been wanting to read the Vault of Dreamers and wonder if you liked it. The pictures are pretty cool. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteYour art game is on point this week, even more than usual. I love every one of these! The Visit Tomorrowland and Forbidden Planet ones are my faves, but love 'em all really. The summer games really are better. Especially by the time the winter ones get to the halfpipe snowman contest. OH! Speaking of halfpipe, did you see the girl from the US who competed for Hungary who is um... not of Olympic caliber? Watch. You're welcome :D http://www.nbcolympics.com/news/how-freeskier-elizabeth-swaney-made-it-olympics-simple-halfpipe-run?utm_tags=oly1001 The part where she cheers for her own self while everyone stares at her is the BEST. And how the commentators are just... so lost bwahha.
ReplyDeleteI’d eat a burger at that place. :) Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I think I've mentioned before how much I love the vintage art style, and I especially enjoy seeing poster art inspired by some of my favorite movies. The first Jaws poster is colorful but a bit meh for me though. I guess the black section of the umbrella was supposed to symbolize a fin? Doesn't really work for me. No shark, no deal!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
It broke into the 70s for a day last week--so nice. I barely watched the Olympics this time around either. I was just busy these last couple of weeks. Hope you love People Like Us!
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, but Southern California has been freezing, and windy! We went from the 80s to 50s with wind during the day and down to 20s & 30s at night. The climate here is a bit bipolar I think.
ReplyDeleteSo thrilled you enjoyed This Fallen Prey as well! Can't wait til the next one! :)
I'm at my parents house this week and so far the weather has been cold and windy, with just a dusting of snow last night. 50's is almost a heat wave. People Like Us sounds interesting, I always do enjoy a good mystery. Glad to hear you had a good reading week.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen very much of the Olympics at all. Love this week's art finds. Have a great week :)
ReplyDeleteI see you're still reading Agatha Christie. Props to you man XD
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
Anne @ The Reading Life
I haven't been watching the Olympics much this week either. I can't wait for the summer games!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays and Cover Spotlight!
The artwork you have today is amazing!! And I also didn't watch a lot of Olympics, sadly - although I'm a big fan of the winter Olympics.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week :)
I loved the Marriage Pact! What a interesting story about a group of people. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteActually I do like the winter Olympics just as well as the summer ones, but only select features: speed skating, bobsled, skeleton, anything that's not ice dancing!
ReplyDeleteLove your posters this week-- thanks for a blast from the past... Tomorrowland, wow, Jaws (1st only, of course)... and what a cheesy Agatha Christie cover!
I read and loved This Fallen Prey, actually that whole series is awesome. And Vault of Dreamers has been on my radar for quite a while, just not sure if I should read it.
Have a good week, Greg, enjoy!
I thought the Peter and Wendy poster was for Psycho at first glance. Ha! 😂
ReplyDeleteWe had a couple of really warm days here, too, but we are back in the 20s/30s range again. I did see some 40s for next week though. Spring cannot come soon enough.
Forbidden Planet and Creature from the Black Lagoon are two of my favorite movies. I loved all the poster artwork, and the Areosmith again. Have a wonderful week.☺
I've been hooked on the Olympics so it's been a good crocheting month but less reading time. The vintage artwork is so cool, especially the Tomorrowland one. What Alice Knew looks good, enjoy your reading week!
ReplyDeleteI am really going to miss the Olympics - though I'm guessing that my productivity will be improved if I don't keep breaking off to sit down and watch yet another spell-binding competition featuring snow, courage and comradeship. Loving this week's visual offerings, Greg and I hope you have a great week:)
ReplyDeleteThe Body in the Library is a favourite of mine and that cover is so nice!
ReplyDeleteLove the posters for Jaws!
Love the posters! Especially the Peter Pan, Jules Verne and H. G. Wells ones! Have a great week and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteNot a sports fan so I pretty much never watch the Olympics but I have caught more of the summer than winter if I do watch any. Now that I just stream my TV I don't have to worry about things like that taking over my TV channels unless I want them too...lol.
ReplyDeleteI love all those movie/book posters, although I think the Jaws one needed a shark fin in the water. :) I loved how the Jaws 2 had a fin out of the water wave.
I am curious about People Like Us so I hope you enjoy it!!

Week in Review
I'm more of a summer games fan, too, but I'm surprised by how much I just wasn't into the olympics this winter. :(
ReplyDeleteI love those Jaws posters!!! So light and happy looking its hilarious! Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe Jules Verne posters are great. I'm glad you enjoyed the Olympics. I didn't end up watching any of it, but I really admire their hard work.
ReplyDeletehttps://hibernatorslibrary.com/2018/02/25/sunday-update-week-3/
You are making me want to replace my entire Agatha Christie collection with books with great covers! I love the graphic for Peter Pan and Wendy too. It's been warm here but is about to get cold. I'm not sure how I feel about it - we'll see how cold it gets! I'm always surprised by how quickly the Olympics end - I never feel like I watch as much as I mean too. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI want to check out What Alice Knew. That looks like it would be a great book for me. I like mysteries/thrillers. Have a great week of reading!
ReplyDeleteMary #SundayRoundup #7
Ooo This Fallen Prey by Kelly Armstrong looks interesting, hope you have a great week :)
ReplyDelete~ Chloe @ Book Dragons
Good reading work and some fantastic artwork on here. I love your pulp cover and the posters for 20,000 leagues are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLynn :D
Loving the Jaws posters. I enjoyed some of the Winter Olympics, like the figure skating. But I can take it or leave it either way. LOL.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoy your new books and have a great week! ~Aleen
I also didn't watch as much of the olympics as I usually do. Time is going by so fast, I didn't watch a whole lot of tv really.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week Greg and happy reading!
Loving that vintage Jaws poster! That's our family's favorite movie - my sister actually has a tatoo of the shark. Umm... and that Agatha Christi cover looks terrifying. No wonder I don't go to the library much anymore. Scary place! ;)
ReplyDeleteI've got a few of the books that you are sharing reviews on this week already on my TBR list so I will be looking forward to your thoughts on them! Have a great week and happy reading!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on a great reading week! Those two Jaws posters are amazing; I'm always coveting the new Mondo artwork for the first movie on Ebay. Looking forward to your People Like Us review!
ReplyDeleteI think maybe I have been well behaved and am allowed to comment today!!! That alone is cause for celebration. I love that you included Forbidden Planet in the vintage posters. I actually just added this to my BluRay list I am about to order last night :) Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt's been int he 80's for weeks now - with the forecast of 88 tomorrow! So. Much. Pollen. right now *cries* lol
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
Wow, fabulous art-work this week. I think I like the winter olympics more than the summer, crazy extreme snowboarding. On the other hand the Uk does better in the summer ones, we didnt embaress ourselves this year though.
ReplyDeleteEngrossed in a good book
Ooh, I spot a Kate Bishop Hawkeye title there! I really need to catch up on my comics. :)
ReplyDeleteI was happy to see warmer weather. We had one nice day when it was in the 70s last week and then lots of rain and the temperatures dropped. I think it's supposed to be in the 50s this week. Hope we've seen the end of winter but as I live in NE Ohio, I know better! Glad you had some warmer weather and a good reading week. I read a lot over the long weekend but not as much this past week.
ReplyDeleteLOL that pulp cover is hilarious! It's eye-catching for sure. :D I love the floating plaza artwork. Great post, Greg!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
We hit the 50's here and were complaining on how cold it was lol. Californians are babies when it comes to "cold" weather lol. I love the art work. The Floating Plaza is a great inspiration for a syfy book. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt was nice last week. Hopefully the waters are done rising. I need to get to This Fallen Prey now!
ReplyDeleteLove your movie artwork this week. Oh, and that burger joint---I want to go there!
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
We have had the Olympics on but I honestly haven't paid much attention. We have had some nicer weather and my husband just told me that more is coming this week. I am so ready for spring! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe had warm weather here too. I hope it stays! Both the Jaws covers are brilliant. I'll have to come back to read your reviews.
ReplyDeleteNice that your weather is warming up. I stacked my load of wood for the coming winter this week!!
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd say I was glad for the Olympics to be over. Hope you like People Like Us. I thought it was good. You have outdone yourself with illustrations this week. I can't pick a favorite. Love the Jaws 2, but I think Green River is super.
ReplyDeleteWhat Alice Knew looks interesting. Yay for the temp! Ours decided to go hot so we've been in the 80s a few days which is a smidge too much for Feb, really. lol But 50/60s at night has been wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch any of the Olympics this time around. I'm also a Summer Games fan and watch all of those events, especially diving and gymnastics. We got into the 70s last week! It was so nice. I can't wait for winter to be over.
ReplyDeleteI read The Vault of the Dreamers as an ARC but haven't carried on with the series. The Olympics were also mostly background noise to me. I did pay a bit closer attention to the hockey when the Americans were playing. After last week's snow, we are expecting high 30s this week. I'll take it! Come see my week here. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI haven't picked any of these up. Guess I am super-slacking! Great post :) You can see what I'm reading here!
ReplyDeleteI love that Peter Pan and Wendy artwork. The forbidden planet ones are also very cool.
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch the Olympics this year. I don't know why, just didn't.
ReplyDeleteI love the artwork. Green River is fabulous!
Have a great week, Greg!
The Jaws posters are cool. I've read the book but never seen the film. My weekly update
ReplyDeleteI like the classic artwork. I didn't watch any Olympics except Chloe Kim's gold run on YouTube after it had happened. Always exciting for me when I see more Asian representation in nontraditional events.
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by last week. It was quite busy for me hauling ass on my sweater. Have a good week.
I didn't get to watch the Olympics this year since I don't have cable and I can't pick up anything with an antenna. I had a differe t distraction keeping me from reading. Donna Girl Who Reads
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch any Olympics. I'm more a summer fan too, and it wasn't worth it with these headaches, though ice skating is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch much of the Olympics either - and I am a winter Olympics fan. :( I felt the coverage was weird?
ReplyDeleteI need to bounce over and check out your Fallen Prey review!
That Peter Pan and Wendy poster is awesome!
I love your retro pictures as per usual. I read the Marriage Pact a while ago and I will wait for your review.
ReplyDeleteGayathri @ Elgee Writes
We had some nice weather here too. And some rain. But the awesome thing, the sun's staying out longer! Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI think I need that Hawkeye book! :D
ReplyDeleteBeautiful artwork!
