Tarzan at the Earth's Core. I absolutely loved all these Hollow Earth type stories as a kid.
There is a very similar scene in One Million Years BC
Now granted, the Neal Adams book cover above had not been painted yet when the movie came out, so maybe Adams was inspired in part by the movie?
I loved the first Tarzan book, and still want to read some of the others. I own the second one, but have I read it yet? No. Maybe someday soon. ;D And these Tarzan covers are always a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved the Tarzan books. The illustration looks like another cartoon illustrator who did SyFy and fantasy art. Now I will wonder about that for the day!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Tarzan books and cartoons very much. When i was a kid my Elder Brother saved its books. Happy June month.
ReplyDeleteThe feeling of being snatched by a dinosaur is a pure dread!
ReplyDeleteEs una linda portada. Y esa película la vi años mil. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteRead both the stories separately as a kid. Tarzan was one and the other story was about the Roc.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a good chance he was inspired by the movie! 👍
ReplyDeleteVery interesting to learn about the art and the movie. Yes, that cover is a keeper! It definitely makes you want to read that book to find out more...so it was genius to have a cover like this at the time. 💕🌸🌸❤️💕 Hope your June is going well. I actually got drenched in the rain yesterday. That hasn't happened in ages! Also it dampened a new book I had just got from the library too. But I stuck it in front of the fan and I think it will be OK. Really, it was good to be caught up in a hard rain that lasted pretty good while. Happy Friday! & all the best to your writing!

The cover reminds of Conan for some reason. I love these old school art covers.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely looks like he was inspired by the movie. Both are so fun!
ReplyDeleteOof, that is scary!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fantastic cover and I agree that the movie seems like plausible inspiration for the cover design.
ReplyDeleteI would not want to be in that situation! But that video clip looks so funny lol.
ReplyDeleteThank God Tarzan is built like a Ken doll, or that would've been awkward ;)
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of one of the Tarzan at the Earth's Core. I will has to find it.
