Snow! And it's been kinda chilly too. Winter feels like it's definitely here. We've had snow all week and even a snow day!

I'm watching the Gifted (say hi to the Frost sisters above) and I finished my Hobbit re- read with La La in the Library. That was fun to revisit! And to celebrate I have some Hobbit and LotR inspired artwork featured below.

Movies That Suck was back this past week with The Meg! I've now done 25 of these things! Hard to believe. I have a few more on the way- they're fun to do. :) And this week I'll have a look at Vintage SF covers as well as a review for Kitty & the Midnight Hour.

  1. I enjoyed my series read of Kitty this year-I liked 5, 6 and 7 in particular! I'll be interested to see your review! My dad has pre-ordered The Meg and will get it on its release day on the 10th. I love a shark film, me!

  2. Love the Hobbit photos! I have friends that live in New Zealand and they have visited the movie site of The Shire/Hobbitown and I AM SO JEALOUS!!!! I love all the different covers of The Hobbit that are out there. It always looks like a place I want to live.

  3. Yes, it definitely feels like winter and it's not even official yet! We had our first snow as well, I hope that's not an indicator of what the rest of the winter will be like!

  4. Love the Hobbit artwork! Somehow I missed your Movies that Suck post, I'll have to go back and catch up. I wish you could send your snow to California!

    1. I wish I could too! Well not the slipperiness and cold but maybe just the snow if it didn't cause problems haha!

  5. Oh, I love the art this week! That "Neighbors" one speaks to me. I think we're due for snow again here soon. We shall see.

  6. The iconic round green door. I love it. It's going to be fun looking for images for my review. It will go up in January during my dragon month. I am hoping to find an image of the poster I had on my bedroom wall in college. I remember I bought it at Spencers in the mall. 😁

We had our first snow storm November 15th and it was -5° on November 23rd. What the hell. I think Mother Nature has been watching too much Game of Thrones. So I agree we are definitely in winter no matter the date. Ha ha. ⛄

Have a wonderful new week and thanks again for reading with me. Stay warm! 🌞

    1. You're welcome! It was fun. :) And oh my gosh Spencer's- I remember that place! Remember blacklight- the stuff that glowed?

I was thinking the same thing- Martin keeps saying Winter is Coming, and I'm like dude, it's already here.

    2. Oh, dear lord, blacklight posters. Remember the fuzzy ones? 😂

  8. Snow! Exciting! It got a bit chilly for a few days down here even. Glad you seem to be having fun with books, shows, and movies lately :-) All those little hobbit homes are so cute!

    1. It was exciting- at first! Haha it gets old quick. Although- it's gone now, thanks to the torrential downpour we got yesterday. And I'll take your chilly over my chilly haha- this is the time of year I start dreaming of warmer climes!

  9. Oh, images of the Shire always make me so happy. If I ever strike it rich I will build my own little hobbit hole nestled in the rolling green hills :)

  11. Revisiting the Hobit sounds awesome. I wonder if they are on audio. Its been my goodness 26 years since I reread them. Holy cow. We are getting snow to. Not much 3-5 inches.

  12. I've got Meg to watch. I'm hoping it isn't too bad as I've waited a long time to see it. Great images this week! It's 70s and humid here. I just now gave in and turned on the AC. Just too sticky not to.

  14. Ooow how I love snow!! I can't wait for the first snow fall here.. I just really want to take my baby girl out to see her first snow! Our car has just been made winter-ready so I'm ready too. :D

    Love the hobbit art!

  18. I love the pics inspired by The Hobbit - I read parts of the book with my young grandson last year and was struck all over again what a lovely book it is. I hope you enjoy The Gone World - I enjoyed his Tomorrow and Tomorrow. Have a great week, Greg - though you can keep the snow!

  19. I have always wanted to live in the Shire. I am short enough to fit in the houses too. It has been a little rainy around here but it looks like we are going to be in the low 40s for the next few weeks so I am thinking winter is finally here also.

I hope you have an awesome week, Greg! Need to check out your Meg Post. Happy Reading! :)

  20. Eww snow! Keep it up there...lol. We could be getting some this coming weekend and I am not looking forward to it. Yesterday and today it's been so windy so I know it's blowing in a cold front. :(

    Have a great week!

  21. Ha Greg as much as I am not overtly fan of much snow since I've adulted and began driving I still wish for some now and lower temperature. It is the beginning of december but feels like the beginning of October. Rain and mild weather ... Anyway stay warm and enjoy books and movies (that don't suck maybe? ) Sophie @bewareofthereader

  22. Wow, a snow day. That sounds nice! I just picked up a copy of The Hobbit. I didn't love it as a kid, but I might enjoy it now.

  23. I envy you. In Panama, were I live, 80 degreesis considered cold weather. I love The Hobbit artwork! I haven't watched Gifted but I'm told is good, hope you are enjoying it. Have a great week!

We have no snow at the moment, but the city is quite festive because of the Christmas fair!

  27. I really love the hole in the ground Hobbit images, especially Down in Hobbiton. Those spaces would be so cozy.

Enjoy your books and movies. I'm curious about those Frost sisters. Long story short: I grew up as a "Frost," and then became Snow for writing purposes. LOL.

Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

  28. I can't believe it either! How did that happen? And I would love to see hobbit holes!

  29. LOVE those hobbit hole illustrations!

  30. Oof, I had to spend a full 24 hours in snowy Milwaukee this week and couldn't wait to get back home! I will say that I like the powdery snow much more than the icy sleet we get down in Texas...but digging a rental car out from several inches of it at 4:30 am wasn't really something I was prepared for 😂 Hope you stay warm, Greg!

  31. We're taking a trip to NC again soon and I really hope my husband gets to see snow. HE loves it but they always end up having unusually warm weather when we go.

  32. Ooooh the pictures are extra nice this week- I love hobbit hole pictures and I have no idea why since I have never read/seen anything involving them but alas. The Gone World looks quite interesting- I just googled it, and now I want to read it. Have you started it? Obviously I will let you read it first and tell me if I need it hahah.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Ooh re-reading The Hobbit sounds like fun. That's one I haven't revisited in ages. We haven't had snow yet but we did have a little sleet, which was enough to give my son a "snow" day.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Snow days are the best! I hope you have another one or two coming up. I really need to reread The Hobbit sometime soon. Great art, as always!

  35. It's been a while since I've re-read the Hobbit. My weekly update

  36. I'll have to check out The Gifted. I'm pretty bad when it comes to tv shows and movies, so behind!
I hope you enjoyed your Sunday and that you're ready for the week. :)

  37. I have never read a Tolkien book. My brother has read and re-read them WAY before TLOTR movies ever was even thought about and tried to get me to read them. I still haven't. I should but haven't.

  38. I love all the LotR movies but I have never been able to get thought the books! High Fantasy is my nemesis I'm impressed you reread them!

  39. I would love to live in a little Hobbit hole. They look so cozy! :)

Wow you have some serious snow on your side of the state. I guess that lake effect is no joke. We have had a few light flurries but nothing that has stuck around. Today is rainy, but I do think snow is in the forecast for later.

I am one behind on Riverdale! This season is crazy awesome. I loved the parents episode. :)

  40. It's been raining here instead of snowing and very bleak. Blah! I'm curious as to your take on The Meg. I'll watch out for your post.

  41. The Gone World looks interesting...and the Frost sisters creep me out, so clearly I need to check out that show or movie or whatever it is. Hope you have a fabulous week. - Katie

  42. I enjoyed both Kitty and the Midnight Hour and The Hobbit! And I love that artwork. I wanted to crawl into a few of them.

    My roundup!

  43. I want to live in a hobbit hole - at least for a little while. Great artwork, especially the one with the snowed in car.

    ReplyDelete
  44. We've had some snow too but nothing major. My brother refers to it as nuisance snow - not enough to shovel but enough to muck up the roads. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Love those hobbit photos even though I am not a fan. I did see one LOTR movie just because Peter Jackson made them but the hobbit places are just so wonderful and cosy to the imagination.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Well I can't say I'm sorry to have moved from MN to NC where we only get 2-4 days of snow, rather than 4-6 months. It's 70 today and gorgeous but will be back down to 20 at night in a couple days. It's a wild swinging time.

I loved the Kitty Norville series. I've read all of them. They were one of the very first UF series I read. Enjoy! Anne - Books of My Heart

  47. The Gone World looks good. All.The.LOTR/Hobbit.pics. Sigh. We've had some snow & some flurries and some cold, cold rain.

    ReplyDelete
  48. We haven't gone below 40° here but it's chilly for us in the Bay Area. Rain is coming; it seemed like forever since we've had any before Thanksgiving break. I'd love to go to NZ. My parents took a cruise around Australia and hit NZ too; then, they had luckily missed that hurricane or whatever. Do you get books for Christmas?

  49. What great artwork. I've never made it through The Hobbit. I guess it's just not my thing. The Gone World sounds spooky. Hope you enjoy it.

  50. Winter is having a bit of an issue down here. It was in the 60's yesterday and today it's in the 40's...we had almost 70 degree weather last week at points as well.

Yay for The Hobbit! I reread it last year along with The Lord of the Rings and it was like going home.

  51. No snow here, but it has been cool for us. This time of year is the best here in TX. :)

Hope you're having a great week.
