Well it's almost Christmas! Is everyone ready? I am - mostly. It came up fast this year. I'll be out of town for a few days visiting family so I might not be around to return comments, but I'll be back the day after Christmas. I hope everyone has a great holiday and has a wonderful time with family, friends or just hanging out at home.
I'm still reading the Hunger Games and loving them (just finished book 2). Nice to rejuvenate my reading a bit as the other stuff on my TBR wasn't working for me. Other than that I saw the new Star Wars movie and sadly I was disappointed. I'm going to post something next week detailing my problems with the new trilogy, so it will be a discussion post of sorts. Feel free to chime in!
Last week I re- reviewed Eight Hundred Grapes, and this week will be The Girls in the Garden.
Song of the week
PULP COVER OF THE WEEK:
NEW ARRIVAL/ UPCOMING REVIEWS:
BOOKISH LINKS
Travelers S2 is coming to Netflix on Dec. 26. Merry Christmas! Since I don't see the new trailer on Youtube I included the first season one.
In light of the fact that I couldn't stand The Last Jedi here are some of my fave moments from the original three
And Mark here about says it all.
I haven't seen the Star Wars movie and don't plan to since I haven't seen any of those movies since I was a kid and don't remember anything, but I've, of course, seen everyone going crazy over the new one---good, bad, everything in between lol. Sorry it disappointed. But glad you're enjoying Hunger Games! Merry Christmas :-)
ReplyDeleteWell you're not missing anything! :) I was not exactly a fan ha!
DeleteHope you had a great Christmas!!
I am mostly ready too!. My life is a loooong string of "mostlys" LOL Hope you have a great time visiting your love ones! Happy Holidays!
ReplyDeleteYou too! Hope you had a nice holiday and merry Christmas!!
DeleteHope you have a lovely holiday!! Yay for enjoying the Hunger Games. I might need to do a reread. Sorry the new Star Wars disappointed. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI'm almost done w/ Mockingjay and loving it! Hope you had a merry Christmas!
DeleteI lost interest in Star Wars after I saw Attack of the Clones and the one after it. I don't feel enthusiastic about the new ones though my dad liked the first two of the latest trilogy. I guess I will look at them at some point. Glad you're enjoying the Hunger Games-I love that trilogy!
ReplyDeleteHave a good Christmas!
Merry Christmas!! I was not a fan of the prequel movies, I don't seem to like the new ones very much. :)
DeleteI'm ready! We do Christmas with my side of the family up in Maine two weeks before the 25th, so it forces me to get ready super early :) We're getting slammed with snow and ice this weekend though, so that will unfortunately mess with our local plans. Have a very happy holiday!
ReplyDeleteYeah I guess that would force you to be ready super early! Maybe it's nice to get part of it out of the way though? We got slammed too with snow, the roads are terrible and a 2 hour drive became a 4 hour ordeal- glad to be home!!!
Deletesome nice things for you. Have a great christmas and some great holidays!
ReplyDeleteYou too Melliane!! Merry Christmas!
DeleteWhoa! that Agatha Christie cover is pretty racy. I plan on getting into some of her works next year. Happy reading and christmas doings!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that interesting? I had no idea there were so many cool, pulp-ish Christie covers.
DeleteTravelers...must google!
ReplyDeleteYes- it fun!!
DeleteChristmas is actually almost over for me since I have already had most of my celebrations. We do have one more gathering but it is next week. I hope you have a great holiday. Bummer that you found the new Star Wars movie disappointing. I tend to stick with the original 3 if I can. Enjoy your books and have safe travels over your holiday.
ReplyDeleteI would kind of like to have my celebrations happen a little early, so I could relax a bit on Christmas? Traveling is no fun, especially like today when we got a ton of snow and the roads were AWFUL.
DeleteAnd I agree- the first three movies were the best!
I'm looking forward to your thoughts on THG series. I read that SO long ago!!! I wish I could have binge read it instead of waiting between books.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Greg
For What It's Worth
I'm almost done w/ Mockingjay and I have so many thoughts! May call for a spoilery discussion post. :)
DeleteI'm sorry that Star Wars sucked. I feel like a lot of people have been disappointed by it, it's quite sad to mess up such a beloved franchise. I am so happy that you are loving The Hunger Games, of course. The song of the week is quite lovely. And I need to start Travelers, too. So many shows, so little time. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteStar Wars DID suck! Oh my gosh I like hated it.
DeleteI don't normally give much credence to any of Mark Hamill's opinions, but on Luke Skywalker I have to say it's pretty spot on. Even with TFA I did not like the direction they were taking the character.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Exactly. I almost cheered when I saw that interview. :)
DeleteTruth is I have never seen Star Wars and I am not sure when will I see even :D
ReplyDeleteI am yet to read The Hunger Games series but I love the movies.
I hope you enjoy your new reads.
My STS: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2017/12/stacking-shelves-12/
I don't think you're missing much, but of course I'm biased. :)
DeleteI liked the Hunger Games movies too, and I'm loving the books!
It sure did sneak up real quick. Merry Christmas! Hope you have a great time away with your family :)
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas- hope you had a nice one!
DeleteI've been hearing lots of mixed reviews on Star Wars. I can't wait to hear your opinions about the movie!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!

Merry Christmas. You can find my thoughts here. https://gregsbookhaven.blogspot.com/2017/12/star-wars-last-jedi.html Have you seen it?
DeleteYeah, mostly ready for Christmas :) hopefully I can stomach all the lovely food, as I only just got better from that terrible bout of stomach flu!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Christmas, Greg :)
Oh we had wonderful food, but I didn't eat too much and now I'm hungry (we just got home lol) Hope you had an awesome Christmas!
DeleteI saw your tweet that it was disappointing, and have heard from others that it isn't what they were expecting. I want to see it, but it probably won't be until January as there would be too many people going now. Have a good week! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it. Even though I didn't, I want others to like it . And I hear you- I hate going to crowded theaters. Hope you had a great Christmas!!
DeleteMost of my friends have said they thought the new Star wars was abyssmal! Cheesy and trite was how most of them described it. The interview with Mark Hamil was interesting as well!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful Christmas!
I thought so- abysmal is a great way to describe it I would say! Can't argue with that. :)
DeleteNot a huge Star Wars fan but after they killed off my favorite character I have no desire to watch any more of them. :( I am surprised by your reaction as it seems they are all like its the best one yet...I will have to check out your post. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a Merry Christmas!

Week in Review
I know, I'm so over the new ones. Yeah I wasn't impressed.
DeleteTravelers is definitely on my list. I'm glad you're able to spend some time with family. I haven't heard mention of your health lately, but I always wonder if you're doing okay. Relaxation this holiday is key. Merry Christmas to you and your family! Hugs...RO
ReplyDeleteI like Travelers. And family was nice, although I'm glad to be home. Health wise I'm doing pretty good- thanks for asking. I'm a LOT better than I was a month or so ago lol.
DeleteMerry Christmas!!!
Enjoy the Hunger Games - oh, I loved the films. I read the books and they are great, but the films are better - rarely happens!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for your Star Wars discussion post, although I have yet to see the new one.
Also, I am excited for Travelers too!
Happy holidays!

I am loving the books, and I did see the movies but it's been a while! Maybe time for a rewatch?!?
DeleteMy star Wars post will be up Wednesday, although my actual review of the movie was last week. Would love for you to stop by!
Merry Christmas!!!
Enjoy the new books! Sorry to hear you weren't happy with Star Wars. Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!!! š
Merry Christmas- hope you had a nice one!! :)
DeleteThat interview with Mark Hamill was really interesting. I hope you have a very merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. Merry Christmas!!!
DeleteI'm behind on my Star Wars, but I did enjoy the video with Mark Hamill. I liked his explanation comparing the different versions of his character. I can't wait to read your post on this! I've heard so many things, good and bad, and I'm interested to see how you felt.
ReplyDeleteDo You Dog-ear?
I also really enjoyed The Hunger Games series! I read them all before the movies were made, and I like the movies well enough! Finnick was the love of my life, lol.
DeleteI liked his take as well. My post will be up on Wednesday, hope you can stop by! And The Hunger Games are great!! I'm almost finishing the last book and Finnick is awesome. :)
DeleteI'm curious about What Alice Knew...and I enjoyed The Girls in the Garden (also Eight Hundred Grapes, but not as much).
ReplyDeleteHave a great holiday, and thanks for visiting my blog.
The Girls in the Garden wasw quite good, and I'm looking forward to What Alice Knew also!
DeleteI really enjoyed The Hunger Games series. The movies too. Have a Holly Jolly Christmas, Greg!
ReplyDeleteMy Sunday Post
I'm almost finished with Mockingjay, and I liked THG movies too. Good stuff :)
DeleteI have seen none of the new trilogy. I guess I'll marathon them when this one comes out on DVD. I guess people were wrong when they said only the older fans liked it. Have a wonderful Christmas visit with your family and here's to a better 2018! :D
ReplyDeleteI don't think you're missing anything! lol but I'm biased. :)
DeleteHope you had a merry Christmas!!
Have a great Christmas! Enjoy your family!
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I loved the new Star Wars movie! I think opinions are very divided though, which is fair. Enjoy the time with family!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week. Happy holidays, Greg! =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, my dear friend. I hope you have a wonderful one. I hope you enjoy your books, too. Happy reading. š❤️
ReplyDeleteOh no! I am sorry to hear you were disappointed in the new Star Wars movie. I was a fan of the original trilogy, as they were such a big part of my childhood, but I am quite behind on those movies not. Glad to hear The Huger Games is helping cleanse your reading pallet. My daughter credits these books with helping her fall back in love with reading. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas, Greg!
ReplyDeleteI'm both sad and a bit worried you didn't enjoy the new Star Wars movie... I'm not planning on seeing just yet, myself, but my kids have big plans for next week.
Enjoy the rest of The Hunger Games, and happy reading.

Merry Christmas to you and your family! Safe travels in this winter wonderland! Sorry the movie did not live up to your expectations. Looking forward to your thoughts after finishing Mockingjay.
ReplyDeleteA very happy Christmas and indeed like Nise safe travels are wished. I think a little of your snow arrived because our Christmas day was a little cooler and ..... drum roll we have had rain over night with more promised! Rain - the best gift!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen any of the recent Star Wars movies. I did see the original ones but just wasn't interested in the new ones. Come see my week here. Happy reading! Have a wonderful holiday season!
ReplyDeleteI feel like this year was three years wrapped into one. A year ago I would not, could not have predicted that I would be where I am now. Happy holidays. Hard to believe it's the last link up of the year. Come see what I'm reading.
ReplyDeleteWe'll be seeing The Last Jedi this week since the husband's off. Have a blast with your ohana and tomodachi. 。o○★ć¾(´ļ¾∀ļ¾`*)ļ¼ļ½ ļ½ļ½ļ½☆ ļ¼øļ½ļ½ļ½(*´ļ¾∀ļ¾`)★。o○
ReplyDeleteA couple of times a year I take a break from my review pile and either re-read a favorite or try to catch up on books in series that I enjoy but haven't had the time to read. It does feel good to take that break. I hope you enjoyed your holiday. Merry Christmas! Girl Who Reads
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Greg! I finally saw The Last Jedi late last week and enjoyed it overall, so I'm definitely curious to read your posts about it since it sounds like we were opposites.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a fantastic Christmas! I'm glad to hear you are enjoying The Hunger Games. I've read the series a few times.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We saw the Last Jedi last week and it was the Tornado's first to see in theaters so of course he loved it. I enjoyed it but I'm not a huge Star Wars fan overall. My husband who IS a big Star Wars fan had some real issues with it as well. I could definitely see what he was saying but because I'm not as in love with the franchise it didn't bother me the same way if that makes sense. I LOVE that Agatha Christie cover. It's one of my favorite books too which doesn't hurt! Hope you're having a great week!
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Greg.
ReplyDeleteThe Hunger Games trilogy is an excellent choice to refresh your TBR. I hope you had a great holiday with your family, Greg! I'm glad to hear that you're doing well. :)
