Well it's almost Christmas! Is everyone ready? I am - mostly. It came up fast this year. I'll be out of town for a few days visiting family so I might not be around to return comments, but I'll be back the day after Christmas. I hope everyone has a great holiday and has a wonderful time with family, friends or just hanging out at home.

I'm still reading the Hunger Games and loving them (just finished book 2). Nice to rejuvenate my reading a bit as the other stuff on my TBR wasn't working for me. Other than that I saw the new Star Wars movie and sadly I was disappointed. I'm going to post something next week detailing my problems with the new trilogy, so it will be a discussion post of sorts. Feel free to chime in!

Last week I re- reviewed Eight Hundred Grapes, and this week will be The Girls in the Garden.

Travelers S2 is coming to Netflix on Dec. 26. Merry Christmas! Since I don't see the new trailer on Youtube I included the first season one.

In light of the fact that I couldn't stand The Last Jedi here are some of my fave moments from the original three

And Mark here about says it all.

  1. I haven't seen the Star Wars movie and don't plan to since I haven't seen any of those movies since I was a kid and don't remember anything, but I've, of course, seen everyone going crazy over the new one---good, bad, everything in between lol. Sorry it disappointed. But glad you're enjoying Hunger Games! Merry Christmas :-)

  4. I lost interest in Star Wars after I saw Attack of the Clones and the one after it. I don't feel enthusiastic about the new ones though my dad liked the first two of the latest trilogy. I guess I will look at them at some point. Glad you're enjoying the Hunger Games-I love that trilogy!

    Have a good Christmas!

    1. Merry Christmas!! I was not a fan of the prequel movies, I don't seem to like the new ones very much. :)

  5. I'm ready! We do Christmas with my side of the family up in Maine two weeks before the 25th, so it forces me to get ready super early :) We're getting slammed with snow and ice this weekend though, so that will unfortunately mess with our local plans. Have a very happy holiday!

    1. Yeah I guess that would force you to be ready super early! Maybe it's nice to get part of it out of the way though? We got slammed too with snow, the roads are terrible and a 2 hour drive became a 4 hour ordeal- glad to be home!!!

  7. Whoa! that Agatha Christie cover is pretty racy. I plan on getting into some of her works next year. Happy reading and christmas doings!

    1. Isn't that interesting? I had no idea there were so many cool, pulp-ish Christie covers.

  8. Christmas is actually almost over for me since I have already had most of my celebrations. We do have one more gathering but it is next week. I hope you have a great holiday. Bummer that you found the new Star Wars movie disappointing. I tend to stick with the original 3 if I can. Enjoy your books and have safe travels over your holiday.

    1. I would kind of like to have my celebrations happen a little early, so I could relax a bit on Christmas? Traveling is no fun, especially like today when we got a ton of snow and the roads were AWFUL.

And I agree- the first three movies were the best!

  9. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on THG series. I read that SO long ago!!! I wish I could have binge read it instead of waiting between books.

  10. I'm sorry that Star Wars sucked. I feel like a lot of people have been disappointed by it, it's quite sad to mess up such a beloved franchise. I am so happy that you are loving The Hunger Games, of course. The song of the week is quite lovely. And I need to start Travelers, too. So many shows, so little time. Hope you have a wonderful Christmas!

  11. I don't normally give much credence to any of Mark Hamill's opinions, but on Luke Skywalker I have to say it's pretty spot on. Even with TFA I did not like the direction they were taking the character.

  17. Most of my friends have said they thought the new Star wars was abyssmal! Cheesy and trite was how most of them described it. The interview with Mark Hamil was interesting as well!

  29. Oh no! I am sorry to hear you were disappointed in the new Star Wars movie. I was a fan of the original trilogy, as they were such a big part of my childhood, but I am quite behind on those movies not. Glad to hear The Huger Games is helping cleanse your reading pallet. My daughter credits these books with helping her fall back in love with reading. I hope you have a wonderful holiday!

I'm both sad and a bit worried you didn't enjoy the new Star Wars movie... I'm not planning on seeing just yet, myself, but my kids have big plans for next week.
Enjoy the rest of The Hunger Games, and happy reading.

  39. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas! We saw the Last Jedi last week and it was the Tornado's first to see in theaters so of course he loved it. I enjoyed it but I'm not a huge Star Wars fan overall. My husband who IS a big Star Wars fan had some real issues with it as well. I could definitely see what he was saying but because I'm not as in love with the franchise it didn't bother me the same way if that makes sense. I LOVE that Agatha Christie cover. It's one of my favorite books too which doesn't hurt! Hope you're having a great week!
