The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer
New Years Eve! It's hard to believe that Christmas is in the rear view mirror already. Are you doing anything fun? I'm actually looking forward to a quiet night for New Years- and as much as I love the holidays, I'm kinda ready for them to be done? Hopefully 2017 will be a better year than 2016 was...
I did a bit of reading this week and did a little Netflix-ing. I've been trying to find a new show and so far have had mixed results. But... January means the return of The 100 so life is good.
Also I've been thinking about my first review of the New Year and which book I wanted it to be, and I decided on... Starflight! So my review will be on Thursday. Other than that I also shared some movie thoughts and had the usual Top Ten and whatever else. Now it's the last day of the year. Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year!! And happy reading and watching for 2017!
ReplyDeleteI am so excited for The Lost City of Z; it looks good :)
I'll keep an eye out for your review on Thurs :)
Happy New Year! And I hope it's good too! :)
DeleteI hate this day more than all others except our stupid bonfire night! So many fireworks go off that you can't hear the TV unless you wear headphones so that is the plan tonight...maybe start a new TV series or watch a few films!
ReplyDeleteI like the Star Wars travel guide!
Ah I hear you. New Years isn't really that big a deal for me either- I'm just ready for it to be tomorrow!
DeleteI've been so hyped for The Lost City of Z, it better be good! I still have one more week of winter vacation and so far I've been going to the movies like crazy and binge watching at home, it's nice to have days off LOL!
ReplyDeleteI just heard of it, although I've seen the book. I love binging!!
DeleteI didn't realize how much of a pressure it is to decide on which book to review first in 2017 until you mentioned it. Whelp.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg!
I know, book blogging problems right? lol
DeleteAn interesting Sunday post as always! I'm under pressure too about writing reviews! There are 4 reviews am yet to write and I dunno which one to go for first!I like the last four water/ocean related art a lot! Yes daring mermaids are awesome ^_^ Happy Happy New Year 2017 Greg..Hope you have an amazing year ahead!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope you have luck with the reviews and thanks, I like that art too!
DeleteHappy new Year!
I hoping for a quiet New Year's too. All of my neighbors do fireworks so we usually go upstairs and enjoy the show.
ReplyDeleteYeah quiet is good. I usually like to do something but not this year. :)
DeleteSomething jumped out at me-- with your pulp cover-- I used to watch Honey West on tv in mid-60s,vand even had a Honey West "Barbie doll". Lol ☺
ReplyDeleteI love the cover of Starflight.. and I just love covers in general, so I should do your fun cover meme in the new year! Maybe š I too am so over the chaos of the holidays. I cringe from all the look back features on tv of who died, and what horrible actions happened in the past year. A downer-- I'm crsving some quiet reading and introspection right about now. Hope 2017 is good to you, Greg.
So Honey West was a thing? I had no idea. It does always amaze me though how I have no problem finding pulp covers- there were so many!!
DeleteAnytime you want to do the cover meme feel free. I do enjoy coming up with covers it might be one of my favorite things every week.
So who's posting the weekly cover topics since Sugar & Snark seem to be on a break? Is it chosen ahead of time? Thanks-- I've decided to join for some weekly fun.
DeleteI'll look forward to your review of Starflight. I'm looking forward to relaxing and reading this weekend.
ReplyDeleteMe too. Have a wonderful weekend. So far so good with Starflight. :)
DeleteOh I am so ready for the holidays to be over and life go back to normal. We are not having a quiet NYE unfortunately but that is ok. Hope you have a great weekend and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great NY! I'm ready for it all to be over.
DeleteNo quiet New Years for me, but that's okay, I took a day off yesterday that was exceedingly quiet. I think the The Lost City of Z looks worth a watch. Thanks for sharing the preview!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! I usually like to do something but this year... just chilling. :)
DeleteHappy New Year. Just sitting at home with cheese and ham and homemade bread, waiting for midnight :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty good!!
DeleteI'm so happy to have found your blog this year! Happy 2017 :)
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
Likewise! I look forward to all your posts in 2017!!
DeleteHappy New Year, Greg! Please how do you get the topics for Cover Characteristics? I can't seem to find a list and it doesn't look like she is doing it anymore.
ReplyDeleteNow that Christmas movies are over I can get back to Netflix watching :) Haven't binged watched anything in a while and need to finish Fuller House season 2 :)
Have a great week, Greg! Happy Reading!!
Happy New Year!! You know I just make up my own topics for CC as it's been on hiatus for months. I imagine it's coming back at some point? But don't know. So you can do your own topics if you want... or if you ever want to know what topics I'm doing let me know. Kristen over at Metaphors & Moonlight does her own topics too, and occasionally we do the same ones.
DeleteOk, I might do that same thing, I saw you do it a few times and wanted to join in this year but like you said has been on hiatus. I will check out Kristen's topics maybe I can do it with you. Might start doing them next week.
DeleteHey Michelle! Yeah I'm just winging it- this week I'm doing Night in the City. Trying to keep it going as it's a fun meme, assuming that Sugar & Snark are coming back. If they don't I'll drop it at some point. But for now...yeah Kristen occasionally lets me know topics she's doing and we coordinate. Other weeks we do our own thing. Would love to see you jump in- it's pretty relaxed. :)
DeleteYour First Book looks interesting....and I love your Star Wars Travel Guide. So sad about "Princess Leia." Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI had trouble finding a Netflix show this week, too. I watched the whole first season of Paranoid, and it was okay, but not a favorite. Then, today, I settled into The Crown and watched half of the season. I'm going back for more.
Enjoy your week...and the New Year. Thanks for visiting my blog.
I'm hoping it's good! I've been thinking about Paranoid... it looks intriguing? May try it next...
DeleteHahahaha my first review is also going to be Starflight. That's too funny! Like you I actually put some thought into since I wanted it to be a good one, and apparently that is a good once since it's what we both came up with.
ReplyDeleteI also didn't do anything for New Year's Eve. It's 12:56 and I am sitting here commenting on blogs lol. Very exciting.
Awesome! Should be fun to see how we both think of it. I did put some thought into it and tried to pick one I'd thought I'd like... plus I'm kinda on a roll w/SF (crosses fingers).
DeleteI know right? Exciting times. :) Although as it turned out I didn't mind staying in this year...
Hope you enjoyed a nice quiet evening! Looking forward to your review of Starflight. I've heard is good! Omg that Star Wars guide is awesome! Thx for sharing it! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy new year! Love the art as always :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg! I hope 2017 will be a fantastic year! Filled with love, joy, good health, success and some fun bookish shenanigans :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to your Starflight review, and I love the pulp cover of the week :D
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Happy New Year Greg! I hope you check out some good books and movies this year!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Sunday Post!
Ronyell @ Rabbit Ears Book Blog and join in this week’s Book Photo Sundays!
Happy New Year! I hope you were able to have a quiet night. Holidays are somehow also stressful, with all the groceries, and cooking and so on.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!! I love the Star Wars Travel Guide. I had to send that one to my hubby. Its super cool! Hope you have a wonderful week!
ReplyDeleteI love that Star Wars Travel Guide!! And of course the rest of the art you shared is awesome too (as always)! I've been really interested in Starflight so I'm definitely going to be checking out that review. Have a great week :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
I have Starflight, but I haven't read it yet. Can't wait to read your review. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! I love the artwork thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Greg. Starflight looks like a good scifi book to start the year's reading off with. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg!
ReplyDeleteThat artwork is gorgeous! I've been having a hard time finding a new Netflix show to watch. I just started Colony and The Magicians but neither are really drawing me in. I even read The Magicians years ago but it must have been too long ago, I guess. I guess that just means more time to read! :D
Happy New Year! The Lost City of Z looks like it has potential...hopefully it lives up to it!
ReplyDeleteI always love looking at the art you post. I've not heard of The Lost City of Z....hmmmmmm. Might be interested in that one. Have a great new year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! We had a quiet New Year's Eve which was fine with me :) I've been trying different Netflix shows with not much success. That's okay, though, since everything starts coming back this week anyway. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet New Year's Eve too. Today will be rather quiet too, I think. I am not feeling up to going out and I know my daughter wants to have a Harry Potter movie marathon. We're only into the first movie, so we'll see how far we make it today. :-)
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a very Happy New Year, Greg. I look forward to your review of Starflight!
Starflight is a great one to start off the new year! I'm excited to read Starfall - I've got it preordered. Happy New Year, Greg! =)
ReplyDeleteAlyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Happy New Year, Greg! Good luck in finding something on tv to watch...although I guess you have The 100. :) I look forward to reading your review of Starfall since it's on my wishlist. And I really enjoyed all the art! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!! The SW Travel Guide is so cool, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg and I profoundly hope 2017 is a good one for you. As ever, the pics are awesome - I particularly love the mermaid ones and the Star Wars systems:). Have a great week with a return to normality. My Sunday Post -

Happy New Year, I hope you had a good New Years Eve, I didn't do anything but read...lol. :) Enjoy your reads!

Week in Review
Happy New Year, Greg! I feel about 2016 about the same as you and I've got this horrible cold I just can't shake, so I welcome feeling better and 2017!
ReplyDeleteLove the Star Wars travel guide! And can't wait to see Rogue One! And your first book of the year sounds great, so I downloaded a copy! I don't read enough science fiction, thanks for the recommendation. Lost Girls sounds good too! I haven't decided on my first book yet, but going to crack the spine on one tonight.
Have a great rest of the week!
I feel the same, the holidays are fun, but it's also nice to have them all over and things go back to normal again. I am looking forward to your review of Starflight, I keep going back and forth on whether I want to order it or not, so it will be nice to read another review for it. I didn't really put any thought into my first review of 2017, just scheduled posts like I normally do. But now that i think about it, it is a good review luckily.
ReplyDeleteThat Star Wars travel guide looks great! Those mermaid pictures are nice too. Have a great week and a happy 2017!
The holidays are nice, but now I'm in the anxious/worry zone. Already thinking about things I have to do on Monday. I wish I had a few more days. I am a bad show watcher. I hate wasting time on a show I discover I don't really like and then quit, but I recently watched How to Get Away With Murder and I loved it! Perhaps it's worth a try after The 100. Happy 2017!
ReplyDeleteWe had a quiet New Years too---just a night at home with the family. Hope you enjoyed yours!
ReplyDeleteThat picture with the girl in the tube thing makes me shiver...
Nicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
Happy New Year Greg! We had a quiet celebration at home with a movie and sparkling apple cider lol. I love the Star Wars travel guide. After reading the books and watching the movie I finally see how close all the planets are lol. I hope you have a great week and new year!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME post, Greg!!
ReplyDeleteI have "Starflight" on my TBR, and hope to get to it this year. Looking forward to your review!!
That was a GREAT song! Perfect for the New Year!
The trailer reminds me SO much of Indiana Jones! It's really uncanny. Of course, I've been a Harrison Ford fan for years!
That Star Wars Travel Guide is TERRIFIC!! I'm going to check it out in the larger size. How cool would it be to actually be able to travel to all of those planets? Lol.
Velhagen's art is absolutely incredible! He concentrates more on the overall landscape, whereas Frazetta really concentrates on the human figure.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Sure hope that 2017 is a much better year for all of us!!
Thanks Maria! I'm halfway through starflight and so far so good. I don't love it but I am liking it. Glad you liked the song- I love that band!
DeleteI agree- I'd LOVE to g oto those planets. Well some of them. lol
I think you're right now that you mention it- Velhagen does seem to be all about the landscape and the setting, whereas frazetta is known for his figures (and their lack of dress which I often joke about)!
Hope you had a great New Year!!
Happy New Year! Netflix-ing is pretty much all I've done since I've been back from vacation LOL.
ReplyDeleteP.S. That artwork is amazing!
I could Netflix all the time! Well that and read lol. Happy New Year! Thanks for stopping by. :)
DeleteI read Lost Girls last week. Not one of my favorite books, not too bad but just a little too over the top for me. Did you enjoy it?
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, and enjoy reading this week.
My It's Monday! What Are You Reading? post.
I haven't read Lost Girls yet but was going to do that one next. Sorry it was a little over the top- i will proceed with caution. :)
DeleteOh wow! Thanks for sharing the Star Wars Travel Guide. This was the first year in a while I didn't deem the weather too cold to go downtown for New Year's Eve, but having Sebastian at home for the first time in about five years was important enough to keep me home. Ha ha. I love going out, but being home for a quiet night doesn't bother me anymore. I am looking forward to what the new year brings with your blog. Here's to a better 2017!
ReplyDeleteUgh, I'm so hesitant when it comes to book adaptations..Lost City if A was a fascinating book that could work brilliantly as a movie...Or could just be hopelessly cheesy....We shall see!
ReplyDeleteI would like to read The Wanderers. I might even have a copy on my Kindle. I will have to look.
ReplyDeleteWe did some Netflixing here yesterday. I look forward to what my husband will drum up. He is usually the one to line up the programs as I have more interested in watching than sifting through the hoards of shows/movies to find something good, but he quite enjoys it. Happy New Year.
Hoping for fresh starts in the new year. I like that Star Wars travel guide!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Hopefully this year will be better, but I have a sinking feeling that it won't be. Enjoy your books, and have a wonderful week! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Greg! Hope we *all* have a better 2017 than 2016. Looking forward to your review of Starflight. I haven't seen too much about that one.
ReplyDeleteLove the Star Wars travel guide. I think I'll go to Alderaan :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week and Happy New Year! ~Aleen
Happy New Year!! A quiet night for New Year’s sounds great. I love spending NYE like that. Quiet, some reading, a movie.. Perfect. I hope you had a great time!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year! Our NYE was quiet too, which was perfect honestly. I am so excited about the Lost City of Z! I loved that book. Did you watch Westworld or OA? I have heard good things about both although we haven't watched them yet. I think we might start them next.
ReplyDeleteYou too! It was quiet here and I loved it! I have watched Westworld and liked it- I didn't love it- but I liked it. It's very well done and I LOVe the idea of it, it just disappointed me a bit. Definitely worth watching. As for The OA I'm on episode 5 and not loving it, but trying to get through it. It's okay.
DeleteHappy New Year, Greg!
ReplyDeleteVery cool travel guide. :) I'm going to be reading The Lost City of Z for a challenge later - I had no idea it's going to be a movie... hmm.
You too Lauren! I've heard of the book, had no idea they were making a movie.
DeleteI'm quite happy 2016 is over, too. Onwards and upwards!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! Happy New Year Deb!!
DeleteI'm looking forward to your Starflight review - that's a book that I've really been wanting to read! Also I want to vacation in the Star Wars universe and/or be an ass-kicking mermaid - maybe 2017 will be my year to pursue such dreams? Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteStarflight is pretty good so far- I don't like it as much The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet (which is excellent) but it's good. And lol about ass kicking mermaid- I wouldn't mind vacationing on some of those planets either! Happy New Year to you as well!
DeleteHappy New Year. Spent a quiet week pretty much unplugged, did watch a bit of Netflix.
ReplyDeleteYou too. Had a quiet New Years and that was nice. I've watched a little Netflix, am gearing up for the 100 to return. Less than a month!!
DeleteOh man, looks like I missed this post during my Holiday hiatus but I had to comment because that Star Wars travel guide is BRILLIANT!! I love how detailed it is! I just saved it to my Star Wars board on Pinterest for further inspection LOL!
