Sunday Post #172

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Well we got our first real snow. The week has been mostly cool but got sharply colder towards the end- we're talking 20's. Fun times in Dec. I'm trying out this online shopping thing since going to the malls is madness- we'll see how it goes. Is there anything Amazon doesn't have lol?

Other than that not much happening. I'm still reading and watching

This week I reviewed The Long Way To A Small Angry Planet (favorite SF of the year) and am looking forward to the sequel A Closed and Common Orbit. I may have started it by the time this goes up. I also read Weregirl and that review will be up on Thursday. My discussion post this week was Are Some Authors Too Big To Fail and I got a lot of great responses- swing on by if you can. :) )

  1. Ok I love the Isle of Dread map! That's where I'm putting all the celebrities that bug me! Gorgeous dragon art too! As for TV while I feel smug at catching up with GoT, I'm way behind in everything else. I so need to start watching more TV! Have a great reading week!

  2. I wish we got snow, too! It's cooled down quite a bit, but there is still no snow - our grass is even still green o.O
I have finished all my Christmas shopping! I'm not sure how that happened, but I'm very happy about it.
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading, Greg.

  6. We got our first real snow yesterday in my neck of the woods, too! It's so pretty outside but the cold is insane: it's already -10.

I'm curious to see what you think of Dead Girls Society, since I haven't heard much about that one yet!

    1. Did you? We're supposed to get 5-10" today- yikes! You're colder though- we're not that bad. I am looking forward to dead Girls, I've seen a few reviews and hopefully it lives up to the premise!

  7. I was not happy about the snow and cold but at least it wasn't as much as they predicted.

To the shock of some of my friends I still haven't seen the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie and I didn't realize there was a sequel already. I am looking forward to seeing Star Wars: Rogue One but don't know if I'll get to see it opening weekend. The weather will play a factor in that too. Have a great week!

  8. No real snow as of 11pm Sat night. It's on it's way, though ;) Those earthquake videos are amazing!!! Thanks for sharing them. I just got lost in both of them for I don't know how long and I can't wait to share them with my son. :)

  11. Yikes about the weather! But seriously, idk why I didn't think of online shopping sooner. I mean, not just for holidays even. Like, there were times when I needed something specific and ended up going to a million stores and searching for months when now I realize it could've taken ten minutes to find it on Amazon lol.

    1. The weather sucks lol. Cold and snow everywhere... and I know about the shopping? I don't know why I didn't either, but I'm telling ya if I can get it online I'm going to lol. It's too cold to even go out...

      Delete
  12. Brr! That is cold. It doesn't get into the 20's here. It did get down to 36F the other night . . . But even that is rare. I did most of my gift shopping online this year too--although there were some stores I had to go to in person. Avoiding the mall has been my goal and so far I've managed to do it. How is your holiday shopping coming along? Are you finding everything you need online?

Dragons! I love the dragon pictures.

I am off to check out your discussion post. I am curious to see what everyone has to say.

    Enjoy your week, Greg!

I love that dragon pic. they look pretty mean... :)

  14. Hi Greg! Sorry I've been a bit of a useless blogging friend lately but I'm trying to keep up from here on in even if I can't catch up commenting on all the backed up posts.

I'm jealous of all the online shopping you are able to do in America. I really think Amazon has almost everything you could possibly need. I hope it works out for you!

That video game type pic looks just like some of the games I used to play in my younger days although obviously not exact. It's a huge work of art! Must have taken FOREVER.

I'm also absolutely LOVING the dragons pic. Wow. So cool!

Hope you have a lovely week ahead!

  18. We've gotten snow and the same temps. They were predicting this crazy snow storm up here, but we never saw it. I need to catch up on Fear the Walking Dead I haven't watched since season 1, but the characters bug me. I'm finally up to date on The Walking Dead and I'm so disappointed with the group.
Anyway keep warm and have a great week.

    1. You know I want to like Fear the Walking Dead but I have problems with the cast, and frankly the writing. I liked it when they were on the boat I thought there were possibilitis there even if it did limit some stories- but now it's just, I don't know, average.

Glad the storm missed you- we got quite a bit of snow (they're even closing schools here tomorrow) so yeah we're getting it. :)

  19. I have to say I'm a little jealous of your snow. Last year we lived in the mountains and had snow pretty much all of January and February, but we moved this summer and where we are now *if* we get any precip it will be rain or ice, rarely do we see snow.
I've seen The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet a few times recently. I love a good scifi. I'll have to grab a copy soon. Hope you have a great week!
