Sunday Post #33/ It's Monday. What Are You Reading?

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.
It's Monday! What Are You Reading is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Another week, no books read or reviewed. Been so busy with my new job that it has kinda taken everything over, but I hope to get some reading in this weekend. The Olympics are also winding down and that will help, we've been watching pretty heavily. I love the ski jumping but have seen none of it (sigh). I've also enjoyed the ski cross, a lot of people crash and that makes it more exciting. Isn't that awful?

Speaking of the Olympics, it's been fun watching the different events, although again the coverage is.. whatever. If I had more time I would just watch online to see stuff NBC doesn't bother to show. And the profiles... while they are often touching and help us to get to know individual athletes, I would just rather they show us more event coverage. I roll my eyes every time one of these starts.

  1. Hehehe..I love your comment about the skiers crashing..I watch NASCAR and love the crashes..well as long as no one gets hurt, but it is pretty dang exciting. We have been watching the Olympics nightly..well I read with on and pause a lot. I loved Moth and Spark and hope you do too. Hopefully things will adjust with the new job and you will get to crack it open soon.

  2. I love watching that event, though I think I've seen more skiers/snowboarders wipe out this Olympics than I ever have before. I hate the coverage too, sometimes I watch the live events at night but you only get 30mins free before you have to register. I hope you have a good week Greg!

    1. I know, I thought that too, seems like a lot more wipeouts this time around! Definetly some unexpected results. I love the Olympics but hate the coverage, what can you do? I really should check out more if the online coverage for stuff I've missed...

  4. I know what you mean about the job taking over - even though I mainly sit in an office, there is no time for anything else. Luckily I can read on my commute to and from. I've been enjoying the Olympic coverage. Here in the UK, there is once channel which shows it almost all day (not a sports channel I shall add but the BBC main channel). Did you see, there was a male US figure skater - sorry, can't remember his name. He crashed very badly into the side barriers, laid there for about 30 sec in obvious agony and than just got up and continued with his routine! Blimey, only for that they should give him gold. I love the cover on that Harry Potter - mine looks much more boring.

  5. I LOVED the Olympics, watched all the time! Ski Jumping for sure is amazing, especially as we got 2 medals out of it :D Too bad our ski cross star (mustache man Filip Flisar!) fell. he's fine but it looked scary!
So You Created A Wormhole & Legacy of the Clockwork Key both look great, looking forward to read them myself. Same goes for Moth and Spark, sadly I got denied on NetGalley. Sounds great though.
And yay fpr Harry, love it to pieces. :D
    Happy reading!

  7. Grrr ... don't even get me started on NBC and their Olympic coverage. They had me seeing red during the summer Olympics. There are less events during the winter that I'm interested in, but the coverage still sucks. That skiing finish was really funny though!

    1. I know, their coverage totally sucks. they break up events, don't even show others... just terrible. I did get a kick out of that skiing finish though!

  11. I'm sorry you're too busy for reading :( I hope that will change as you settle into the new job.

I looked at the ice caves on Lake Michigan--those I kind of scary! It's pretty amazing to look at all that snow and ice.

I hope you have a great week and have a little time for reading!

    1. Me too- it's really bugging me, plus I feel like it's been ages since I did a review. Argh! As for the ice caves, I just can't believe that much ice formed- it's amazing! I don't think I'd be going out very far though...

  13. haha I feel like that gif accurately describes how I experience winter from Jan-March. I love the cover for The Treachery of Beautiful Things, I can't say no to covers with pretty dresses!

  14. I was frustrated with the primetime coverage as well, the human interest stories make my hubby crazy! Hope this week is better on the reading front. Have a great week.

    1. I'm with your hubby, they just lay it on way too thick, with the music and everything else. It's nice to learn about the athletes, but there's way too much of that and not enough of the events, if you ask me! Anyway I felt like I watched a lot, but didn't really see a lot, if that makes sense. Thanks for coming by Nise!

  15. I watched maybe one night of primetime coverage - I was fortunate to be able to catch a good amount live online. That also meant I was able to bypass NBC's awful athlete profiles. I read something about a reporter counting up the percentage of athletes featured where NBC focused heavily on a dead relative. IIRC, it was over 50%.

  16. I slacked off my reading during the Olympics, too. I'm sad that the Games are over and will miss having them to watch every day, but I need to get back on track with my reading!

    1. Me too, can totally relate. Miss the Olympics already I liked to have the games on even when I wasn't really watching, just something about it. :)
